  1. The FSM says I must ride my bike to show my respect and honour to him. He says when I start doing this every day things will be better.

  3. So the general feeling is that rider safety is unimportant (and medical/support crew, many of whom are volunteers, should endanger themselves)? If you felt that your safety was that irrelevant why didn't you just go ride the route on your own?
  4. I actually liked it... Not too crowded so was easy to droll over the above-pictured ellsworth (new job, more money, less petrol and vehicle maintenance... Let's see what the new year brings). Had a decent neck/shoulder session at the physios... Can move so will be able to cycle. Goodie bag had things I will use, sorry to the maid. Lekker chat with Tumbles... Hope he enjoys his sunday with his boys.
  5. "Fraud is an intentional deception made for personal gain or to damage another individual". Fake/unauthorised replica kit is made with intent to make personal gain at the expense of the original or authorised dealers losing out on that income.
  6. This is the same as complaining about people jumping red lights - if it's a taxi or politician doing it everyone must scream and shout, but if it's a cyclist then it's acceptable to some. Fraud is fraud and the Commercial Crimes Unit would be the ones to handle the issue.
  7. :-( RIP
  8. 'Cept Doggone, I woulda loooved new components as well, even if money is tight and I have perfectly good components :-P instead I got wrangled into saving money by buying same frame just diff colour scheme and entry level components and my good stuff shifted over. My bank balance definitely loves Linden and Jonene for keeping me in check and not splurging ;-)
  9. Damn, I wasn't quite last! ;-P Start/finish sucked, marshalling sucked, parking sucked. I chose to do this cos back when I last did it it was well organised, but alas it seems to no longer be so. Hekpoort/vrekpoort definitely got me and I ended up walking up most of the way. If there's a clash with the Spring race next year I'm doing that one rather than Satellite.
  10. Never ever buy at that shop. They are the worst shop in town. Back in 2003 when I started cycling they tried to sell me a 2nd hand chain-store bike for R900!!! :-O
  11. Eish Kwashi! Not good :-( Heal up soon. How is the bike?
  12. Much as I really hate having to say this... I am 100% in agreement with TNT1 on this. (Please someone, anyone, document the momentous occasion of me agreeing in totallity with TNT1 on something :-P )
  13. Paid my dues in order to get 2... 1 will live in CT and one in Pta to keep my nephew and soon-to-be niece safe and sound and the respective grandparents' homes dry when they visit :-)
  14. Was a pleasure BB. I didn't spot you... Why didn't you come say hi to me? *sulk*
  15. I am SO glad I was on the "wrong" bike... That climb at the end would've killed me! Well done to the folk who rode and brought stuff for a wonderful cause - us marshals salute you!
  16. +1000000
  17. Dangle, at no point have I remotely condoned the comment in that screen shot. I am also 100% in agreement with mojopup who pointed out that things said in jest tend to have some element of truth behind them. BUT I am still a biker (or in some peoples' terms "motorcyclist" because I will not ride fast on public roads). As such I do not appreciate your generalisation and bad attitude to all bikers. I have had my share of run ins with other road users as a cyclist and a biker. A friend was punched on our morning training ride by a silly little idiot riding pillion on a scooter. That's what really infuriates me when I see thing like the screen shot shared here - these silly little idiots would think, from seeing it, that it might get them "in" with the "in crowd", especially if they go get a big bike so that the "in crowd" will talk to them in the first place.
  18. Dangle, don't be too cocky... I know 2 guys who actually would. Neither marshal. It's a father and son. Son is ex-cyclist (bladdy good one, pity he quit) who WOULD run off the road for a cyclist. Until R4S this year I shared their view. Since I changed my opinion I've not ridden too much with them or their buddies (serious biker-don't-own-car types who don't agree that even cyclists ad pedestrians can be at fault) End of the day the OP point is that there are idiot bikers/motorcyclists out there. No one is arguing that. There are also idiot cyclists, drivers and pedestrians too. Maybe it's time to start a "Think, People" campaign
  19. I think you are being a tad harsh here... There are a number of us cyclists on thehub who just so happen to be bikers/motorcyclists too who do NOT share the attitudes as per the OP nor the views (joking or not) of the contentious screen shots. I also know numers biker/motorcyclist who feel the way I do even though they would not be caught dead on a bicycle.
  20. AMZ, I can guarantee you I heard about the recent thread (the selective quoting one) from someone very much not linked in any way shape or form to Helivac Marshals. Thing is, as previously pointed out on this thread... Your comments about trust are exactly the same as those made about whistle blowers... Without those few people willing to speak out about corruption etc the world would be an even worse place than it is. An office bearer of ANY organisation must behave appropriately at all times, not just in public. Otherwise we must all agree that Shaik deserves full pardon, Zuma is a saint and there is nothing "shady" about Malema's lifestyle.
  21. Thank you Marshal Stan. I didn't feel it was my place to be that explicit, so glad you came and elaborated. The fact that I know from personal experience how pationately you and your peeps feel about road safety (for all) makes me feel happier when I head out on the road... To commute, shop, walk, ride or cycle. I know there are definitely some folk out there who care.
  22. My views on TB are not secret... And you both know what those views are... Why should I have to waste my breath spelling them out again??! Also, in this thread there is no point in taking sides pro or anti TB as an organisation. This thread was about how SOME motorcyclists (just like SOME cyclists, car drivers, pedestrians, etc) are morons. Why not leave it at that?
  23. p.s. AMZ, glad to see you've not been abducted by aliens and it really is you ;-P
  24. Ok, my turn to stir... AMZ and pieman... BOTH of you... *sigh* why bother... You both know what I'm thinking and we all know I'll just be repeating myself. If you don't search both thehub and tb forums. BUT, one added point AMZ, based on RECENT "behind closed doors" conversations on a certain forum (no, I'm not secretly still there, concerned person merely advised me of it) quoting out of context is what certain people excel at... What is sauce for the goose is sauce for the gander Now can we ALL just hold hands and sing kumba-ya together for safety on the roads for all, every day and at events???
  25. Reading the comments I'm worried it might be an imposter... not the style of reply I remember from him :-P .
