  1. Even if they had been in a bus they would still have died as the driver would still have crossed when it was unsafe to do so. In fact, more people may have died as there would have been no chance of being flung clear. RIP to those who lost their lives and condolences to their families and friends.
  2. He made the choice to drive dangerously. He made the choice to go back and try to cover up what he had done. The excuse of "he didn't mean to kill her" and "his guilty conscience is punishment enough" does not cut it. People must stop making excuses for their actions and own up to it. He showed no remorse and shirked his accountability for the death of an innocent child to the end. There was NO "ongeluk" as he intentionally drove the way that he did.
  3. He was just doing what he is contracted and paid to do...
  4. Unfortunately results aren't kept indefinitely on the seeding site... But years back my seeding got insanely "bumped up" by my piloting a tandem for a certain visually impaired cyclist who went on to the paralympics... Was one hell of a rush when our bunch had to leave the tar to get around some elites who had crashed. Top speed was something a little shy of insane. These days I need an engine to reach those speeds ;-P
  5. Or maybe Wiggins just wanted to get off the bike cos the seating position is so uncomfortable?
  6. R4S 2012 - 5:06:44 (seeding index 49.794) Satellite 2012 - 4:52:05 (seeding index 51.384) Bwahahahahaha! No clue how long 94.7 took me last year and I suspect this year I'll manage even longer ;-) (have seriously been thinking of taking up hand cycling... I can manage 10km on the arm ergonometer in the gym in 30 mins - definitely better than my recent attempts at walking/running/cycling)
  7. Why do people always try to excuse behavior that results in loss to others... "he didn't intent to kill her" etc. Why can you not accept that he consciously engaged in behavior which had the likelihood of causing loss and/or damage. That is all that matters - that he did it KNOWINGLY and INTENTIONALLY. The fact that he did succeed in causing loss and damage is inconsequential in terms of guilt, that action of driving the way he did is what was criminal. The sooner people start owning their actions and accepting responsibility for their crappy harmful-to-others behavior the sooner we, as a species, will be able to start living better.
  8. Looks like Sky are taking to the sky and flying!
  9. Vroem Vroem Froome!!!
  10. I never thought I'd see this day... but I agree entirely with TNT!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAARGH!
  11. you should have said "Froome-vroemed"
  12. damnit! following TdF on letour is just not the same... i wish i had dstv and had seen that. WELL DONE CHRIS!!!!!!!
  13. I did this way back in 2006. Stunning scenery ;-) do not be ashamed of getting off and pushing on the steeper climbs! Just be very alert when riding past bunches of kids at the side of the road. One of them tried to steal chilli's bottle from the bottle cage as we rode past :-O Enjoy it guys!
  14. Look at the date on that... I think he runs courses on the last weekend of each month, but he really needs to comment on this thread to confirm.
  15. RIP to the commuter. My gardener commutes and I often worry about him. It took a while to get him to use a helmet and I suspect he only uses it when he comes to my place.
  16. Healing vibes and best wishes for a speedy recovery to Hermann
  17. So young and yet such class. Cherise is an incredible young lady and I wish her all the best wherever she goes to pursue her career. Cycling South Africa and all other involved parties should be utterly ashamed of themselves, however I doubt that they will. They are as bad as our current government - utterly corrupt and utterly proud of it.
  18. Ok, best I add another reason for keeping my paid off car... Minimal maintenance cost and looking at autotrader etc I can sell it for more than I paid for it!
  19. I hate feeling the same way... I really want a hilux, and it will suit my lifestyle better than my tazz, but that will mean paying a car off for the next 3 years. Instead I'll just keep saving (and then spending the savings on the house instead of a car :-P )
  20. Hmmm, any indication of age group? Maybe stole mom/dad's car and is going to try pretend it wasn't her... Can't wait to hear more
  21. Kruiwa, what about the wind... Are you negotiating with the weather gods yet? Please? ;-)
  22. Many "women specific" bikes are more entry-level type frames painted in "pretty" colours, and tend to be a bit heavy so do be careful if you go that route.
  23. Just do not go jump back in to your riding as if you didn't take time off... It seems to be a pretty good way to injure yourself ;-P
  24. At 1.52m I sympathise. People often harp on at me that I should get a full suspension bike. Your wife has two choices... Stick to the correct size bike or get the lightest too-big full suspension (the lightness will make it a little bit easier to handle). Personally I'm sticking with my hard tail mongoose meteore.
  25. Yep, that you did. You have no idea how much I appreciated it :-) Thank you!
