  1. i have no problems at all wearing my polar or my garmin strap under sports bras. have had issues wearing under "normal" underwire bras though
  2. if i'm up to that kind of training level i'll also happily be a piggy (oink oink )
  3. malpiet... if you need some "other" 2 wheelers to go sit outside his place of work/residence until he coughs up just yell and i'll see what can be organised... not many people enjoy a nice gianelli or tornado or two brothers growling at 1am
  4. welcome! very purrrdy bike you have there! (guys, by joining hte hub he HAS joined a gang! )
  5. how the F@#$ do you get to "you are verrrry lucky you were not arrested for interfering with the due process of law"? advising someone of what is happening is NOT interfering with due process of the law. SAPS endorse the eblockwatch initiative that provides a number to call where the call is recorded.
  6. a couple of years back one day a bunch of us on our bikes were returning from a marshalling event. my bluetooth headset still worked and i had it on... when they started to give Richard trouble for riding with his learners with his wife pillion and he said "i know i'm wrong please give me the fine" they started with trying for a bribe, blatantly. so i made a call... they heard me telling the person i called what was happening and where. i was giving details of the officers and their vehicle. the one heard me and shouted out to the one hasseling Rich "she's calling the boss..." instant back off and "don't do it again" to Rich and we were sent on our way.
  7. my PinkDrive volunteer t-shirt from supporting at 94.7. Especially as i found out last night that a really amazing chick i know has breast cancer - she's busy undergoing treatment for it and that is why she "dropped off the radar"
  8. covie, i tend to do that already - even on my sv. it's amazing how irate people get when they are "stuck" behind you just because they kdon't want to change tot he right lane to go past... instead they WILL try to push past in the emergency lane/gutter to try show their disapproval that you are riding / driving too slow!
  9. Chris, good on you for doing this. Toy Run Gauteng is including cyclists this year - so if we do a good job on saturday and you do a good job on the 16th then maybe next year Toy Run countrywide might do a cycling event - imagine how AWESOME that would be
  10. i hurt my knee doing breedt's neck a little while back. also no specific incident per se (as in fall or bump). i just realised about 2 hours after getting home tha ttrying to stand/walk/move-knee was darned sore on the lower and inner-leg part of the knee. it was about 10 times worse trying to use stairs (ie i couldn't use stairs). i just rested it completely for teh 2 weeks it took to ease up on the general pain, then i took it easy (ie still didn't use stairs or cycle) for another week and now it's fine
  11. BGS - join the cows too - we can ride together and put big pink bows or something on our bikes to show support for PinkDrive too. i helped at the PinkDrive supporters truck ont he N14 this year - so next year was thinking of helping another charity
  12. i have to admit i'm seriously reconsidering my "i'll never ride a big roadie event again" approach - i may just want to be a cow next year...
  13. DaLoCo - not random if you look to the first page of this thread...
  14. mallo, i'm afraid you may just have got another hub dating thread going by posting those pics, judging by the first two three reactions!
  15. the PinkDrive guys at 94.7 this coming saturday's Toy Run Cycling event (a toy/s for underpriveledged kids - preferably stationery or educational toy/s or sports stuff) starting at 7am from gate 1&2
  16. most definitely - you need to learn to say "it's your turn girl" (the "girl" applies even if it's a guy, and especially if it's a guy who's been sitting behind a girl)
  17. the biggest problem with these cheats is that the non-chip-wearing rider ends up starting in a bunch ahead of their ability... then they cause accidents because they don't know how to ride etc. i hope that karma teaches them all a lesson - both parties in the cheat - by having an inept rider take them out and land them in hospital with briken bones and faces ripped to shereds and having to either live with the scars or have plastic surgery to fix it. will serve them right to suffer the way that the victims of idiot riders suffer... no that is NOT a makeup smudge or excess sunlotion on my face - it is a scar - it will not rub off and i do NOT appreciate you trying if it bugs you then give me the friggin money to go to a plastic surgeon (yes, i've had a few people in the last 3 days make mention of my scars - most irritating)
  18. if i had ever found out anything more about the b*tch who took me down at the 'shova back in 2006 i would also have posted full details - the more we know about the people who cause problems the better chance others have of staying clear and not getting hurt. unformtunately the witnesses were more concerned with gettign to me and helping me and later when they told me what had happened they just said "a lady cut at 90 degrees right across the road straight into you, she didn't even look and you were going too fast to do anything"
  19. GO COWS!!!! eish, i think i was shouting that and "GO PINK!" in my sleep... was at the pinkdrive truck on the N14 but we were all supporting the cows extra as well you guys really were amazing and the number wearing cow suits was incredible - the heat was atrocious but you guys kept going for a brilliant cause as to the need to get out the way - there is a huge difference between having someone on an easy-to-manouvre single bike shouting and then flying by, but it is a WHOLE LOT more understandable and acceptable when the "shouter" comes past and you see that it is a tandem (needs a whole lot further to stop) or a full.stop.tough.to.handle-ice cream bike - i would not even remotely consider it rude if one of those yelled at me to be careful
  20. sounds exactly like what you can expect from her - she is a really sweet and amazing person yay Dibbles!!!!!
  21. marlon, if anyone judges you (and unfortunately some will) on the fact that you don't ride a top-end bike and top-end helmet etc etc yadda yadda then it's their loss. sure, i often joke about "it's not about how fast you go but how good you look going slow". end of the day though, it's all about whether you are enjoying your bike and there will always be a few people here who will ignore certain rabble rousers and help out if you have any questions or need help of any sort.
  22. ex-zacterly... had a LOT of idjuts on the cradle on saturday who were standing waiting for their slower buddies but took up the whole cycling lane so us on the R2R had to move INTO the "car section" of the road to get past then there were others - riding on the right hand side / middle of the cycle lane again forcing faster riders into the "car section" and the worst is i found the extreme left of the cycle lane to be the nicest bit to ride on - farrrr less bumpy than closer to the "car section" of the road personally, had i been on my SV i'd have left a lot of people with VERY sore ears out of irritation (i love having a loud pipe)
  23. Krutch, by now you should know... the metro busa's hang out on the satellite road cos that's "the best" plac eto wind it and seeing as that's the sum total of metro on duty on a weekend they focus on getting those speeding bribfines paid so they don't care to keep an eye on the cradle route
  24. So agree with you it is not only morally wrong (due to being inconsiderate) but legally wrong too the worst is that the same people who say it's fine for cyclists to hold up traffic (either by riding abreast or "owning" the whole lane or whatever) are often the same people who complain about slower cars when they are driving... *sigh*
  25. ps Krutch - "faster bikes" and "and you get these idiots" - surely the fast bikes on narrow public roads (or any public roads) are also idiots, of the worst nature because they give all us bikers a bad name (sorry, but there is nothing that annoys me more than the "its my race track" attitude of fellow-bikers... if you can afford the fast bike and the arlen ness gear then you can afford to attend track day)
