  1. hmmmm... pic 1 agreed 100% - cyclists totally in the wrong blocking traffic second pic - only 1 cyclist riding correctly - the others all to the left of a solid white line - not actually correct - they are supposed to be in the road, keeing left the way the one rider is riding 3rd pic - all cyclists in the "new" strip created FOR cyclists sorry Krutch, but your pics have just ruined certain of our (cyclists) arguments against fellow cyclists. darnit now i need to pop my action cam onto my SV to go get useful "ammo" cos you only gave us 1
  2. Darkwing, i didn't see any bmw rider taking pics, there was an R6 doing so though and he's on our side!
  3. and if any of you read the thread about the one ways at northern farms you'd realise that here in gtn it's just as bad - you get permission to ride somewhere, due to various issues (safety of oncomming riders, view of exit of single trail from farm road/erosion/whatever, it is requested that people abide by signiage and respect to not ride certain paths and to ride in a given direction only, and then you get the hubbers who say "it's just a farm, i'll ride where i want to"
  4. you left out one "teeny tiny" in your description - "teeny tiny mind"
  5. and it doesn't belong to you. kthere are rules for riding htere and we (mountainbikers) are proveledgede to be allowed to ride there - they can withdraw this permission at any time and it will be because of people like YOU who break the rules and ignore the signs.
  6. it is so good to know that these things are (clearly) taken seriously
  7. yeeeouch! not at all nice to happen but very glad that no-one rode over you! heal up soon!
  8. scotty, in both those instances clearly the driver disobeyed the law resulting in harm (in this instance to you). you have ridden with me so you should know that i'm never happy when raod rules are broken. just because the bunch didn't do it correctly does not mean i was happy about it. i mean - that is one of the main reasons certain people not want to ride with me - i chirp about jumping lights and stop streets so i'm not "fun" to ride with. where does my comment say that it's only the cyclist that must obey the law? it is a general statement of fact - if everyone drove and rode correctly there would be farrr fewer accidents. ps getting a little defensive aren't you? (or is that "??")
  9. the argument to justify jumping lights is hardly different to the genuinely juju'esque argument that it's the slower vehicles on the highway that cause accidents... errr no... wake up sunshines... it is usually the vehicle too impatient to overtake safely that causes the accident. the same way that it is the vehicle which jumps the light that causes the accident. end of the day - when did we last hear of a cyclist being killed by a driver obeying the law??? (other than that tragic accident down south when someone in the bunch with a blowout caused a rider to fall under a truck). so it stands to reason that if we want the cars to abide by the law then we too should do so. abiding by the law neither kills nor causes accidents. people who are too self-important and too impatient are the cause of accidents and road deaths.
  10. the same cyclists who are adamant that it's fine for them to break the law turn around and complain about the taxis, the 4x4's etc etc who drive in the yellow lane. ffs - in your opinion it's fine to jump the light, in the car drivers' opinion it's fine to drive in the yellow lane. oh, and wtf is wrong with going straight out of a turn only lane if you can see the car at the front is a beat up old car that you know you're going to beat. oh and why should a car bother to stop for a red light either? clearly juju is not such a freak - he's just an example of the average south african level of logical reasoning
  11. hope she's not as seriously injured as reported and that whatever her injuries that she heals up soon
  12. i would ensure taht the f%^&ers who did this lost 1 cm of each limb at a time. i would find a way to make sure they lived to feel each cut.
  13. TiBones, from a cyclist who commutes on a motorbike.... thank you for always looking out and making space and still being aware of both types all around you
  14. knowing both these breeds my money would have to go to the ridgie IF it gets first bite in or if the boxer leets go for a split second. if the boxer gets first grasp and does the standard lock-jaw throttle i think the ridgie would be in trouble. i've only ever seen the two breeds in friendly interaction though (i have ridgie x lab and my folks have boxer) gotta admit that pepper spray will most prolly work on a ridgie if used in congunction with a tazer (we suspect that was what was done to my poor poochies when i was burgalled - Sasha (the ridgie x) had been sprayed so much that when i got home 6 hours later and found the chaos you could still smell it on her fur and both her and dayan (the lab x rottie) freak at the slightest electric spark sound) hmmm - there's an idea - get a cattle prodder - the low-voltage but long reach one.
  15. oh no :-( i'll be keeping the rider in my thoughts and hope that s/he recovers fully
  16. cervelo, the only thing that will take care of a boker is one mother****er big bone with bits of meat still hanging on it!
  17. years back at The Jock some kids ran out in front of 3 of us after the %^&*s in front threw their "left-over" gels and stuff up in the air for them... and then one tried to grab chilli's water bottle from the bike. she didn't notice cos i saw what he was planning... amazing what a cleat can do to a theiving little $%^&
  18. glad that you guys are okish. hope your wife heals up soon
  19. Hi all, if any of you were on the ride down south marshalled by the Helivac team - any feedback? http://marshalls.topgoo.net/helivac-traiining-rides-f31/30-october-2010-t160.htm
  20. very glad that you're ok. hell, he shouldn't have just pulled over and waited - he should've come over to you and specifically asked you if you AND your bike were ok. the wheel turns though, so karma will get him.
  21. oddly enough the dude who'd got out their car and headed for my drivers door took one look at me and DIVED back to their car and they sped away before he was even properly inside. i think he realised knife vs gorrila-lock-and-crazed-woman was gonna be a fail. if he'd had a gun it would most prolly have been very different.
  22. Gravity, i am soo glad that they are not badly hurt. do go for counselling (all of you) please. i've been through being in an armed cash heist (at the office where i worked back then, a bullet missed me by 10-15cm) and an attempted hijacking of my car (was suffering from sleep deprivation and did what i should NOT have done - grabbed my "gorilla lock" and attacked was VERY lucky to get away with that reaction but must learn to control my fury cos it will get me killed one day)
  23. i've been riding with XT since oct2007 and no problems other than when i snapped the hangar and now this weekend my bb decided to tell me to go climb a mountain... oh wait, i'd just done that... guess the bb was saying "no more!". go to another shop - your lbs is bull%^&**&$# you
  24. we did a very short "easy" route - yep it was the wide perimeter section - we had to do a sharp hairpin turn off of it and as an inexperienced rider who was adamant he wanted to get past the rider for a specific other team, he tried to turn a bit faster than his abilities apparently he is at work today
  25. at least it wasn't me... had a company funtion at the bike park today. one of the events was an mtb relay (very short lap)... so about half our team fell, but mostly just dust and a minor bruise, but one guy went down very hard. at first he didn't want anyone to even look but we could all see it was bad. his knee looked very eina and hte medic cornered him to check him over. seems like his worst injury, however, is not his knee - they think his wrist is broken :-( so yeah, if anyone notice an ambo and medic vehicle sirens blazing headed that way it was not serious (unless you consider the fact that he's a develop - needs his hands)
