  1. Buddy, make sure you keep all the paperwork and hak him. Same guy who took a month to sort out my SRAM Force shifter under warranty when all the paperwork was given to him with the lever! My choice would've been Wendel from theHub at Rietvlei. I know he also services it himself. Or ask Dubber, he did the course with JB.
  2. I prefer the original white too.
  3. I've dealt with the ladies there on more than 1 occassion and they've all been very useful taking my money from me & i've been happy giving it to them
  4. I'm all for visible policing, will do a lot more good than some TJOP sitting behind a bush! Esp since the notification is NOT sent according to the AARTO legislation. Work colleague was pulled over last week doing 164 on the freeway, detained for a day, released the next day. I don't believe there's any legislation that allows those vehicles to be used just yet. Rather cheeky for them to abuse their right if they can't get a successful conviction etc. Spending a day in jail isn't worth the 10 min ur late!
  5. I'm a roadie 1st, i started MTBing last year, went to Teak on Sat as well and i agree, the group i ride with in the East is disciplined in large groups, pairs all the way and in an orderly fashion. I can only describe what i encountered on Sat as clumps, no order, just roadies hap hazardly all ova the place, p's me off. If it's a club, they need to sort their **** out! As a motorist, patience for 10 seconds means nobody gets hurt and we all have a happy day still. Motorist taking out a cyclist cos you're being held up by 1 min means u'll be late by a day? Spend multiple days in court etc, not worth the minute. Chillax, cos u will get caught at every robot just to aggrivate things
  6. Hey Hey, it's Thursday Looking fwd to happy warm-er ride
  7. +10 Ditto, also 816 on bars and 808 on head I enjoyed the side fill a lot more with the 816 since u seldomly ride extremely fast at night. The headlight does the trick when u hit seriously technical sections, i only switch it on then. If i had to pick 1, i'd choose the 816 on bars. Price, roughly the same, did my own thing to get em tho
  8. Who's gonna be out braving the cold??
  9. I use to find my bike very twitchy on uphills, struggled to keep the front wheel down. I started buggering around with my fork setup, set the rebound to be slower, as in towards the turtle, 5 clicks, made technical climbs much better, less bouncy, front wheel spends more time on the ground now even with my weight/body where it use to be before.
  10. TW - Less social media, more living Kona - Not really sure, Riaan seemed to be chilled, i left round 19:30, depends on what u looking at, PM me, i have MJ808's and 816's arriving next week Patches - Good seeing u there Did most the easy stuff just to get miles in my legs, use to riding at night but hitting some of the tracks at the same speed as during the day left me on the edge sometimes. Did the bottom of Zombie, wasn't willing to venture up the mountain, maybe next week EC - that explains all MTBers
  11. Hi Peeps Since winter is upon us and the roads are dark and chilly, anybody else ever ridden the Bike Park at night? They open late on a Tuesday Went there last night, very different riding when you only have a light on your head Was good fun, got in some great riding in a closed off environment, up trails the wrong way, or right way and temp wasn't that bad at 18:00. Def will be doing it again!
  12. Not sure of "Small" CO2 fills but paintball (markers - not the handgun type) used much larger bottles, with all the weight weenies, doubt anybody wants to carry a 1L sized 2kg's of CO2? Most paintballers also run compressed air these days (more stable, less hot shots) & bottles are running higher and higher pressures so more shots off a smaller bottle. So fields run a compressor as opposed to having to get CO2 from Afrox or the likes.
  13. Hey Hey, dis amper Thursday Who's down, anybody keen to meet early, PM me
  14. Grrr....the sickness is forcing me to miss my fix this week, ride safe, have fun!
  15. BB10 - some of the boys ride with Garmin 500's Lights, white for front, red for rear as we touch tar roads occasionally (very occasionally). All the regular spares you'd normally carry. & a strong set of legs (kidding - it's very chilled!)
  16. I'm also new to the Tubby thing and wanted to know: Carrying a spare tubby, do you pre-stretch it? Would a tighter fit after a puncture not be better? Do you pre-glue the spare and then apply another layer of glue to the rim when you install it or keep it clean as in 0 glue until you fit? Thanks guys!
  17. 2 boys i know riding CUBE - Edge Ride & Ashchest (had many MTB's), don't think i've heard a bad word about the bike from either. Also met the guy that won the CUBE that was raffled off at 94.7 for CHOC this past w/end at Route 42 MTB race, he's absolutely loving his bike, not sure the model, but that looked more like an XC hardtail. PM Darryl O
  18. Ironic, the day i post is the day i get the call that my bike is ready, still dirty, but ready! So in on the 10th, out on the 31st March.....hmmmm....is that good service? From what i've heard, ask if your goods get serviced in JHB or CPT? Rather have it sent to CPT, think they more on top of their game! (that just sounds wrong!)
  19. Couple of us are aiming at 18:00, normally 2 loops round a beeeg block
  20. Dis donderdag!! Wie gaan vroeg wees?
  21. I've been shopping for bits & bobs for my bikes. Look Blades, light weight cranks for my dirt bike & Zipp 303's, so about 20k? CycleTech got back to me. Kelly from Solomons got back to me. Kiwi Planet X got back to me. Kevin from BuyCycle CWC (hmmm, I sound like a cycling addict) Not mentioning which shops never got back to me but looks like 2 sets of 303's now 1 of the above will be happier for doing a bit of work I think it's more the people than the shop u deal with? Granted, I never asked Dangle (his tattoos scare me)
  22. I really hope u don't have to deal with SRAM in JHB, still waiting for my shifter, it's been 21 days & lots of BS. Apparently they have a service centre for Gauteng, possibly have it sent to CPT, maybe the chilled mountain people are more efficient! This will apply to all SRAM type products, MTB kit, shocks etc Any idea if Shimano's service is any better?
  23. Whoop Whoop, dis Donderdag Lights charged, car packed Who's gonna be early?
