  1. Also check if there's any "loose" movement on the cluster if he's removed the spacer since that will cause the individual cassette's (eg 12, 13, 14, 15 etc) to be loose and since they moving, will cause a problem in shifting. There should be no lateral movement on the cassette when it's installed. Make sure when you put it in the 25 or biggest gear that your RD doesn't touch the spokes, that could be a beeeeg mess! (stop screw on RD if set correctly should prevent that)
  2. I gather you're using 2 different wheels, 1 for actual riding, 1 for IDT? If that's the case, i find when you change rear wheels, sometimes the alignment is marginally out so you'll need to just change the cable tension (either on RD or if you have on the frame/outer cable) til it's aligned again. For me it's a quarter to half turn, depending on the rear wheel i choose. Hope it helps
  3. Post HiJack! Anybody ever wonder if Lab Tests only list competitors they are "better" than? Kinda like when i was looking at the Specialized "Lab Tests" they compare to other products but never all products? I understand comparing to all would be a nightmare but if they willing to GET/BUY eg Zipp & Dura Ace Cranks, why can't they get an Easton, Kuota etc crank as well? Thought, use it don't use it? I read up on the Look Crank design etc, very impressive! How do they get the BB to come out if it needs to be replaced? HiJack Off! Free Bump PS. I've always loved Look stuff, problem is i can't afford Look
  4. Validation why they so awesome? Comparison to what other pedals?
  5. Now i know why i only own a road bike, it's simple, take off everything and anything so that it's the lightest, stiffest thing around to RACE. Weight 1st, Comfort 2nd! Knowing my luck i'll have a MTB in a couple months!
  6. So what does it say for people who have no signature? I'm empty B)
  7. During a race, the value should have 0 meaning in determining how hard you push! I get crazy avg HR's racing I just think it's crazy interesting that people have these devices yet very few know the potential it holds when training according to a program of sorts. Eg. I got my Polar, it purely showed me a number, it meant nothing really, was merely a number then. Did the Polar "course/explanation" & while it seemed crazy to drop my avg speed by 3-4km/h to stay in zone, after 2 weeks, i was backup to my normal speed yet my HR had dropped by 5-8 beats. I can't say i was "unfit" cos i'd been riding previously.
  8. Make sure u get the same freehub as per what GS your already riding i think is the point. I have Campag wheels with Shimano Freehubs. Whereas you could get Easton's/Mavic's with whichever freehub you wanted (new).
  9. I don't think it's worthwhile spending "small" money for "slightly" better wheels. If you can hold out a bit longer and look for even good used Mavic Ksyrium Elite's or SL's etc it would be a far greater benefit (i'm assuming you're racing road). Agreed for the original post, TT's and Triathlons need a good set of deep sections!
  10. We're all different, genetics would have a part to play, even from your parents (if they were couch potatoes) etc. If you've been a couch potato your whole life, that will have an effect. I started cycling with a friend, same age, our MHR's and avg HR's are way different! I believe in the method above simply cos as you get fitter, your RHR drops, but you must realise that for each sport you will have a different MHR. Swimming the lowest (body weight supported by water), Cycling (partial weight supported by saddle), running the highest (full weight on legs). So if you do each discipline you'll actually need to calculate MHR for each 1. I believe in finding a consistent/proper way to test MHR, do a proper 15 min warm up, then choose somewhere where you can do a consistent 2min flat out no disprutions (seated always). Your 1st attempt will feel like hell since you're only warming up now, you get a 2min recovery then repeat the 2min flat out 2min recovery another 2-3 times. Over the next couple of attempts, you will get higher values. So my question to all is since you have HRM's, do you use them as a pretty figure on your bike or a training tool? Do you take notice of your HRM during a race and do you think it affects you mentally?
  11. Agreed. WRT the posted items, if you click the "greyed little page with up arrow" next to the person who started the topic, it'll give you a breakdown, helps with the sale stuff You can click anywhere on the sale page etc then the popup dissappears
  12. Know another guy that rides from Benoni to Sunninghill? Not sure of his hrs tho cos he works at Fritz in Paulshof. Best i can think of now, maybe see if there's Web pages or FB group for Edenvale Pedellars or Team Edenglen & go from there?
  13. Ron, do you ride with Bedfordview? If so speak to Trevor and Gordy Not sure of any others that ride that route.
  14. There are tons of idiots sitting in front of their little growing screens oblivious to what scammers are doing! Do people never check the URL? Do you really believe Bill Gates will give you a share of his fortune? If you get a hit ratio of 1/10 ppl GIVING you their bank account info, you're not doing too badly if ur a crook?
  15. I got a call from the Rocket's guys (compression clothing), apparently their stuff can be claimed via medical aid? Best is give them a call, get the code and find out if your MA will cover?
  16. Not sure what you're looking at using them for (training/racing) but i'd say they are really good. Initially released by Mavic as an "Anniversary" Special Edition, they'd more than likely be classed in the "lighter" wheels category. I know a few guys using them and how can you go wrong with a brand name like Mavic? B)
  17. I validate my point! You don't want any illegal dealings and that weight is illegal, i'll send you my address for shipping
  18. NO Chris! You can't have rubbish like this standing in your shop, i'll take it off your hands
  19. Or think the guys are swak cos they do 200 odd km in 5 hrs
  20. NO!!! Stay away from the Dark Side, your hard earned tax money pays for good (in places) roads! & it's cleaner & apparently cheaper?
  21. Wanna-B - Glad ur OK and gonna ride another day! There's 2 types of cyclists, those that have fallen and those that are gonna fall! Bos - i know how u feel, making a decision in an instant isn't easy, esp when racing. Carnival City 2010 - I've been there where 3 club mates went down in a bunch when our group passed theirs. I never stopped yet i knew those people, was i wrong? I was riding in the top 4-5 in our group when it happened. Yes i was concerned til i got to the end and found out 2 came out with minor bumbs, scratches and bruises, 3rd had a broken collar bone (bye bye Argus). I just hope that those that k@k you out, have the balls to admit something when it happens, as you have and take the heat equally!
  22. Does this tie up? https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/76608-mystery-fall-in-knysna-pse-help/
  23. Ride your bike & bring CAKE!
  24. Like some of the DJ's have said, they should allow every sport an "open" category where anything goes. If they wanna abuse drugs, the effects will shorten their careers? You'd see guys running the 100m in sub 8 sec! B) AWESOME!
  25. Moegoe - cut out chips, chocolates & coffee....YOH! Think the winter chill doesn't help the burning of fat either! Getting up to ride in the dark doesn't fascinate me much, besides the leaving a warm bed to dress like the michelin man to still freeze & the cold helps us to binge eat Riding in Summer is so much easier, i dropped round 4kg's at the beginning of the year, living normally but just continuous training. Think i should start watching Oprah for weight loss tips Bos - surfing in CPT....u must really like cold water!
