  1. It was a natural progression. With the shop came the community and with the community came a club I wouldn't recommend starting a cycling club as a means to advertise, its way too much time and sacrifice I did it because I loved it
  2. Exactly my sentiment
  3. ACE Cycles is a one-man operation, founded, owned, and managed by me, Emmanuel Sequeira I also established the ACE Cycling Club and served as its Chairman for several years. Please note that the online forum should not be confused with the real-world cycling community.
  4. 1) If I pay to advertise here, who are you to dictate the price that I should advertise it for in a free market system? Your opinion might be that it's overpriced, that doesnt make it necessarily true 2) You seem to have missed the exact toxic behavior that I outlined in my previous posts. You also missed my posts where I clearly state that forum users generally talk more than they buy, so I don't see them as potential buyers My point again, the forums and the classifieds are almost completely separate communities.
  5. Well, ACE Cycles is a business name
  6. True, I moved all my ads to Facebook, before I closed the business for good People can comment on the Facebook, they tend to be more respectful as opposed to someone hiding behind and alias Also easier to see if its a fake or scam account My only gripe with the general forum community is how they trash talk dealers and have endless opinions on the classifieds section, yet they aren't interested in buying. As if pulling an ad apart inflates their egos. I also find it hard to respect an opinion made by someone that wont even sign their name to it The forum community, by my opinion, is shallow and toxic, mainly due to the regular members still holding on to the 2005 golden era of thehub
  7. The classifieds section is how bikehub.co.za generates revenue. Businesses pay to use the platform to advertise their stock. Many users prefer the convenience and reliability of selling to a business as opposed to the hack of dealing with time wasters It was created to be a commerce platform
  8. Despite your condescending tone, my point remains true, you're not going to make a living from talking **** in the classifieds
  9. Truth, talking **** all day dont pay the bills Classified and forums could be 2 different websites
  10. Facebook marketplace is way better, at least on Facebook people dont hide behind an alias
  11. My experience is that serious buyers will call or send a whatsapp. The ones that dont even bother with manners and drop a single question message on bikehub, I dont even respond
  12. Coming from someone that sold on this platform for a living, those you speak of spend more time talking k@k and stroking their fragile egos than they do in actually buying anything There are 2 kinds of hubbers, those that do, and those that talk
  13. "The appeal panel found that a 15-year ban followed by a lifelong suspended sentence would be appropriate"
  14. And thats why I ride a rigid hardtail with AXS 90% of the time
  15. As far as rim brakes go, the vias probably has the shittest brakes I've ever come across
  16. Used bike dealer here, personally, I very very rarely trade in anything over R100k. In that price bracket a buyer doesn't mind dropping an extra R30-50k to buy a brand new bike. Under from R65-90k I've sold plenty
  17. Surely an extra 0 typo
  18. Bargain, if you're looking for a badass hardtail.
  19. Depends very much on your needs, expectations and affordability If you need motivation and a constant pat on the back, regular feedback and advice on nutrition and cross training, get a 1 on 1 coach. I'd recommend The Practice. This will be a premium service If you have what it takes to get the job done and all you need is to ramp it up, then a Zwift program is more than sufficient and already included in your subscription If you're looking for a premium service at a fraction of the cost, head over to trainingpeaks and pick a coach / program. 100s of coaches and programs to choose from to get you prepped for your next event I've had success with all of the above. Started off with Zwift programs, got the results I wanted. Ramped it up with a personal coach, learnt a lot and my cycling reached the level I wanted. Now I know what works for me for where I'm at right now. Currently just maintaining while having fun
  20. I agree, all the good dealers here should at least do the following: Wash the bike Quality check Offer buyer assurance / Limited warranty Safe and reliable transaction Who doesnt do this?
  21. I sell more bikes on Facebook than I do here
  22. I just went through the thread again, just to see what exactly I said to be painted as a supporter of resellers ripping people off.... I highlighted the difference between a reseller and a dealer, the basics of a free market system, the associated risk, the value add, and the fact that these guys don't read the threads or care for the opinions posted here. These are facts, nothing personal @The Ouzoand @NotSoBigBen If anything, I'll apologize for my tone and delivery
  23. PS - The post covid cycling boom is long and gone, just from what I've noticed in sales figures from May 2022
  24. My bru, I'm hated in the threads and loved in the classifieds. I accept it, if anything, I'll more than often be the **** with an alternative view in the spirit of healthy debate. Fortunately, the classifieds pay my bills, and I use that to support my family, pay my bills, support my cycling passion. All this while I sponsor and chair our cycling club and recently registered a foundation to support cyclists with disablities as well as kit for development teams. I've devoted my life to the sport. People will describe me as a that typically ****, until you get to know me better. Don't take me too seriously, I don't.
