  1. Hey guys,

I want to get myself an indoor trainer for some mild training but I have no clue where to begin and what to look for and not. I have read a lot different articles and guides but I am not really getting what I need out of them and maybe some experienced peeps here can help me make the best purchase.

So I want a trainer that can work with the following:
    Budget: +/- 4k (second hand)
Bike: Hardtail mountainbike with 2.6" tyres and thru-axles.
Features: I just want to be able to pedal indoors, the less features the better I guess for my weak ass budget.

I want it to be as easy to use and I don't want to have to buy a whole load of pieces to make my bike fit or so not sure if that is a thing even.

    Thanks a lot

  2. Hey everyone,

I am looking for a nice little neat flat/room for my bother in law that got a new job in Richards Bay at Blackwoods nursery as a manager in Meer En See so anything not too far away will work.

He is a 35 year old single male, clean, tidy and quiet he won't bother anyone and has good manners and what not. His max budget is around +/- R5500 including water and electricity but anything cheaper will really go a long way and help the lad out. He will need to move in at the start of next month (Feb).

So if you know of something or someone please let me know, he is the perfect tenant in my opinion that won't cause stresses or so.

    Thanks in advance.

    Buyer didn't ask.
    Seller didn't tell.

    Pretty much.

I remember looking at that fork and considering it but thinking to myself I need to ask for some more pics and of the lever especially so I can see the condition of it.

Weird one, as a seller I will always include pictures and details of everything that goes with the deal and as a buyer I will always request pictures and details of everything that goes with the deal.

And as the buyer I wouldn't want any lever other than an original RockShox lever due to price paid and the condition of the item being so "new" one would want a nice original lever.

  4. Hey guys,

I searched but didn't find a topic similar to this one.

I have been trying to give feedback to a user that recently bought my bike. The 'Deal feedback' modal opens and I type the user name but the drop down doesn't seem to be working so I can't select the user and if I click the form field it just resets back to default state. I tried Firefox and Chrome on my desktop and also on my phone still no luck.

  5. Hey everyone,

So a non cycling related question here. I have a Ryobi 8803 door closer but while I was adjusting it I turned one screw too far and the oil came out. Can anyone please help me and tell me which oil I must buy to replace all of the oil that I have now lost.

Thanks a lot and happy new year!

  6. Like all other bikes you have to also take into consideration the badge on the frame. If you get it you get it. It adds a little bit of personal value above what the actual bikes gives you physically, it just comes down to if that aligns with the rider personally and if it does they will understand.

Speak to Wayne at Rapide ... he may be able to build you a Tigre for a similar price.

Tigre will blow the Marlin out the water i.t.o capability with far more progressive geometry and durability with a 4130 CrMo frame.

His customer service is unmatched in SA

This is the best advice I have read online in a long time. I would 100% go with the Tigre, I wouldn't even think twice.

  8. The best thing for me was, I ordered some Fox long riding pants from them, they didn't have stock but ended up sending me the cheaper Fox pants instead of telling me no stock and the price difference was close to 1k. Was weird.

  9. So, I sold my gravel bike, my hardtail, and Transition Sentinel frame all to build the dream "quiver killer" of a bike - a Yeti SB130.

    Build list:

    - Yeti SB130 Turq, Lunch Ride Edition

    - Fox DPX2 shock

    - Rock Shox Lyrik Ultimate 150mm

    - XO1 Eagle drivetrain

    - Formula Cura 4 brakes

    - One Up 180mm dropper

    - Spez Power Arc saddle

    - cSixx END carbon bars

    - cSixx END 9 Series carbon rims

    - CushCore inserts

    - Spez Ground Control and Eliminator 2.6 tyres

    - One Up EDC tool in the steerer tube

    - Shimano XT trail pedals

    - Fidlock bottle cage

14.3kg all in with everything listed above.

Absolute stunner of a build. All I still need to do to finish it off is get black decals for the handlebar and shock.

And... as luck would have it, I am sick, so I can just stare at it until I am healthy again.

That right there, is for real my dream bike man. Freaking amazing.

  10. Was riding at Wolwespruit saw a guy sitting next to the trail, I could clearly see he took a fall. Funny enough when I stopped and asked if he needed some help, he said no he is fine despite the fact that his arm was broken.

Arm over my shoulder and keeping him up walked him down, he took quite the fall luckily someone else saw us and helped later on to bring the bikes down. Would have been a bummer if I had to hike back up haha

  11. Hope for me and has been for years, I sell my bikes without brakes if I have to for the sake of keeping them.

I have tried various brakes and models, Shimano, SRAM, Formula etc. I find other brakes too 'bitey', but I must admit anything smaller than a 180mm rotor with my Hope brakes doesn't feel too nice, bigger rotors look better, it is science. 203 F and 180 R and you are all set.

As mentioned, brakes for life. I have two sets I bled my first set after years of use it wasn't even required I just thought damn it has been years. My main bike has been going for 4 years and 100% no bleed.

Brakes are preference, they all good brakes in their own way Hope is just my way.

  12. YES! Finally an awesome thread.

If possible, do 120mm fork on that frame. The intended riding suits 120mm perfectly and it won't hold you back in my opinion. But don't go smaller than a 34 or Pike. But 130mm won't ruin it, I see there is 34 Fox on the hub. If I have to be real here, I don't really see any little good bargain buys on the hub right now for forks. But if you want it spot on, 120mm is the call.

A COTIC frame without a HOPE seat clamp is whack:

Wheels something like this: (they strong wheels these and the weight isn't that bad)

    https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/mountain-bike-wheels/410427/dt-swiss-m1900-wheelset

You are looking for a nice wider rim with this bike and nice beefy tyres, beefy tyres (for rear especially even strongly consider getting a cush core or similar just for the back) and hardtails always look so awesome with thick wheels in my opinion, for that extra just send it value.

Brakes are up to what you like man, if you have a nice set just keep using those or whatever you won't need brakes with this sick bike!

  13. Makes one realise pretty quick that unless your name is Jolanda or Nino, XC bikes need to either be treated with respect (i.e. still to tamer trails / slow down) or your skills have to be razor sharp.

Well yes, dual suss is more forgiving and can make rougher terrain more approachable, as they are intended to do exactly that.

But you can ride some pretty hard stuff on a hardtail, you just need the ideal setup starting with a dropper post I would say and a bit more of a heels down approach.

This little neat graph is pretty nice to look at:

    post-125294-0-13851300-1596634261_thumb.png

I have also done the hardtail thing, I think now there are far better options like the Slade, I think you can pretty much ride anything with that bike in a good setup.

Oh and last thing is, even though I ride a dual suss myself but I think for a great majority of the riding you will be just fine with a hardtail. Sometimes I wish I had a 2nd bike with shorter travel and sometimes a hardtail would just be awesome.

  14. 2020 Cotic BFE Max. Actually 50% of the Cotic BFE Max as it's a deposit / preorder and now I have to forget about it until December. Seems they are getting a lot of love with the new Solaris Max sold out as well in a couple of weeks.

Might even sell the Evil and have this as my one and only.

Yeah, owning and riding something like a Cotic is just different. In most cases it is the specific model of a brand that growns on you but with Cotic it is the brand itself in a different way.

Bike I regret selling the most is my Cotic Simple 26 to fund my Cotic Rocket, should have just saved for longer and have both, ag ja...

You won't regret your purchase and huge congrats
