  1. Isiko Sports has great service, if it wasn't for this virus and it's impact I would have my DBcoil IL Black by now for my Rocket
  2. Thanks for the replies. I will be on the look out for a lekker 150mm 29 fork at a good price and update here whenever that might be.
  3. Hey everyone, Well as per the title, I am looking at converting my 27.5 Cotic Rocket to a mullet bike and fitting a 29 wagon wheel in the front. Why? I am not planning on getting rid of my Rocket anytime soon and I just want to experiment with it. No! I am not the best when it comes to the more advanced technical levels of bicycle wizardry. Yes! I have done some research online but to be honest, I just have a few very specific questions that I need answers to. Questions: Current 27.5 setup: Frame: 150mm Fork: 150mm (just something about 1:1) Okay, so I am looking at the following options for the mullet bike: 1. 29" wheel with 150mm fork So, my understanding is that this setup will lift the front end and slacken out the bike by like 1.0-1.4deg but also bring up that BB height but not sure by how much like 5mm-8mm and seat angle will also change similar to the head angle amount. 2. 29" wheel with 140mm fork 140mm fork because wouldn't that keep the geo of the bike quite similar to what it is now? Catch here is, would the 150mm rear travel communicate well with the 140mm in the front? That is just the wrong way around and I don't like that makes me uncomfortable. BUT! Get this: So I am currently running a 150mm fork with my 27.5. The frame is designed around 150mm, 160mm and 170mm forks, intentionally so apparently not because you can just do it on most frames anyway + or - 10mm travel, not a breakthrough here. So, if I do a 150mm 29 fork up in the front that would put me closer to the geo spec of the 170mm 27.5 fork, right? Some fancy charts for geo referencing: Looking at those charts, would 150mm 29" be very slack or like slack but not too slack? And going from my current geo to that geo would that feel very different or just slightly? Thanks a lot for any and all feedback.
  4. I have owned both and others, this is what I can tell you: The thing about Hope is, it grows on you as a product and brand more than other's do. First I got the brakes, now I want the cranks, wheelsets etc. Now for the brakes: The first thing is the physical feel of the brakes in your hand, it all feels very solid and well built. It gives you that feeling when you pick it up like damn this is quality. The adjustment 'levers' are awesome even with gloves on. The build quality is nothing short off of awesome. The performance in my opinion is awesome, they aren't as sharp or 'bitey' but you can adjust them somewhat for a sharper bite and slap on a nice big rotor and you will be close. The nice thing is you can go both ways or be in the middle, you can't really have the extremes of both ends but I feel like the Hope brakes have a little more fiddling room to play with. Been riding my Hope's for 3 years, no problems at all and I am now only considering a bleed for the very first time. I have Hope Race Evo X2s too, got them in 2015 they are on my commute bike now but have been on my jump bike too and same story, I have had to bleed them more often and they are pretty used but still 100%. I wouldn't say the Hope brakes are better than Formula, that is an endless debate. But if you are into a product that is bulky, strong and a bit more industrial/mechanical Hope is the call for me.
  5. Well you have options but the main first ones that come to mind is: A hydration pack either a backpack or hip pack/moon bag/bum bag/hip bag etc. one of those. Or you can get a rail, like the Holy Rail:
  6. I mean it's cool but I don't have the extra coins rights now to kind of 'gamble' with, if that makes sense. Good luck to these guys, if they around till next year then maybe.
  7. Man, I have been on 275 for the last 5 years coming from 29 and I haven't really struggled with finding parts as much. Even though you won't find it as easily as 29 but it is there none the less. Sometimes the limited options on tyres is a bummer but I have found that most shops don't really have a wide selection of more 'burly' or AM tyres but then again the same goes for 29 in this specific category but Rekon and Crossmarks are all over the place. I will be riding my sweet 275 Cotic Rocket for a few more years. And it does seem like a niche indeed with all the big wheels around but I just prefer it, I feel more at home on my little 275 wheels.
  8. I am looking for a coil shock right now, my Rocket is calling for it. But don't have the money to buy new so waiting for a 2nd hand deal. I rode on a coil bike for a day on my local trails and after really messing around and back and forth on my own bike which has air, I was very interested in coil. And also, it looks sick!
  9. Eks-tea wins Gee-eggs, I just have more faith in Shimano as someone that has been exposed to both.
  10. Hyundai - 200 000km Warranty / 7 Year VW - 120km Warranty / 3 Year 80 000km doesn't should like much but it is +/- as mentioned 4 years extra (working on the average of 20 000km per year), which to me is kind of a no brainer.
  11. Hey everyone, I want to start commuting to work but our office doesn't have showers, I am assuming people that commute to work around +/- 20km take a shower or am I being silly? If this is the case, what are the best methods to clean up at the office? I have done some research and I am thinking of the following: A wash rag in a ziploc bag and just wet it, wipe down and rinse it. Anything else I should be thinking of? Or any reason why this idea isn't ideal? Thanks guys for sharing your knowledge and thoughts.
  12. Jip, I have posted about this before. Mr Price bibs are really good. I have Spez and Fox ones too but the Mr Price ones are kind of my go to ones, I got me 2 pairs almost 2 years ago and they are still 100%.
  13. Bike makes a difference, physical and mental. Comparing the rider's ability to or with the bike's is irrelevant, that is a different topic on it's own.
  14. I always buy used and not abused, new is just too expensive. 2018 (earlier than this was just too far back but there were quite a few): GIANT Trance (4 months) PYGA Pascoe (8 months) Last year I owned the following: Trek Remedy 7 (6 months) Commencal META AM V4 (2 months) PYGA Pascoe (5 months) And now a COTIC Rocket that I built up using my Pascoe's parts as it was all mostly new. I have owned various hardtails at the same time too but currently just have my Rocket and my GT Chucker. I use to have some extra money and would buy for a good price and sell at around the same price sometimes you lose some and sometimes you even win some. I didn't really mind I just liked riding and working on different bikes that is all. Out of all my bikes I have ridden the Rocket the most but owned it for the shortest time. Maybe not ridden it the most but riding it very frequently, like almost everyday.
  15. 1. Berry Muesli (Woolies most of the time) 2. Add grapes most of the time (The 1kg containers go for 39.99 or even 29.99) or any other fruit that is on special 3. Fat free yogurt 4. Topped with some honey I eat this before all my rides.
  16. Go with the Lyne, I am on my second one now sold my previous bike and new one also got it's own Lyne. It's a great product, no need to look further... even if you have to save up for another month.
  17. Got a nice boot bike rack that welcomes my Rocket and possibly any other bikes out there nice and safely: And then my fiancée started getting into it, rented a bike a few times also had her first crash and still keen so got her a little something at a killer price:
  18. I for one wouldn't be put off from buying a bike if it had Suntour on, their latest high-end suspension look good. And if you are look at this Trance ( https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-bikes/927/giant-trance-275-2019-price-drop ) it is a awesome bike for a great price, it would soak up anything you throw at it, I rate. I would just ask out about the rear shock ad says Rockshox but pictures has the Suntour Tri Air on.
  19. It is a great fork. I remember watching a Youtube video sometime ago and they were riding hard and hitting huge features and one of the guys had one of these forks on for a long term review and said it is the best bang for buck fork you can buy.
  20. Hey guys, So I will be heading down with my soon to be wife's family to Mossel Bay and I want to make use of this time to maybe go riding a few times. I have went through the forum and Google maps and have found trails here and there. But I have never been in that side of our country or even close to it either, not familiar with it whatsoever. So, I was hoping you guys could share your knowledge with me with trails that are in and around Mossel Bay not too far away 20 - 30mins drive is doable. Thanks a lot and all of your responses will be very appreciated and will help me with my planning
  21. I might be wrong about this but like most things in life nothing is free. And this is a free to use platform, much like Facebook etc. difference being Facebook etc. makes millions and billions out of marketing tools, ads etc. Bikehub, maybe doesn't make millions and billions from upgraded ads but at the same time I think the classifieds with it's upgraded ads etc. is what helps to fund Bikehub, I think it is what actually helps to keep Bikehub alive in terms of traffic on the site. I always thought most people who use this website, use it for the "marketplace". I never got the same idea as you that the site's focus was for chats, I always thought it was for the buy and sell. Point being, it costs money to run this website. A lot more than people might think, so I really like the focus on the marketplace and I hope it helps with sales for upgraded ads.
  22. I ride flats and don't see myself ever going over to clipless even though I use to ride with them for a year or so. I just feel more confident with flats that is all. I do think when you are still progressing with jumps, manuals and very technical steep decents it helps you stick around with learning and pushing yourself a bit more. If you are going flats get yourself ones with some proper pins, I would say avoid a flat pedal from let's say Shimano their pins aren't good enough and quite small so they chew your shoe pretty bad and the grip is not the best. I would recommend these pedals: https://trailtechcycles.co.za/collections/oneup-components/products/oneup-components-composite-pedals-black They are great and the pins are good. And just get a shoe with a stiff sole that doesn't flex too much and you should be able to get a good idea.
  23. I left you a message Matt on the new site in regards to posting an ad.
