  1. First ride of the year....Another 360 odd to go!
  2. Mogale City's attempt at a 'farm school'. just outside of Magalies village... Was bought as a functional flower farm some years back (for a good few million...) and now its just a ruin....I believe back in the day this place used to export flowers all over the world. Ironically they still post the Red Ants here but basically there is nothing left to nick other than what you can see here and some bricks...its all been nicked already! Horse...stable door!
  3. Merry Christmas.....I also did laundry this morning! Got those whites Christmassy white....!
  4. Christmas Eve Magalies Style... Should have carried 2 beers up!
  5. I didn't divorce but did split with someone after 14 years. My take on your question below : P.S - Do I need to now start a new circle of friends from scratch due to one's common married friends - what did you guys do ? I think this is dependent on how you guys split up, amiable or fighting (in my case we just grew apart and she went her own way). We both had the same circle of friends and kind of still do but with mutual friends I think you have to be careful of what you say about your ex and what your friends say about your ex as well... Luckily my ex moved away from where I live so we don't have to bump into one another. Anyway, its a *** one. You will just have to see how life plays out now....time does make everything better...eventually!
  6. Well, just me, myself and I as usual out here...If anyone is in the Magalies (town) area over the festive season and fancies a ride let me know....would be a change to cycle with someone!
  7. I put a couple of grand on my CC to help pay for my last bike as it was on special and just ate beans on toast for a month (well, not that bad but you get the picture!) till it balanced out again...!
  8. Does this race pass through Magalies? Seen a Munga branded bakkie knocking around a few times lately in town....
  9. Looking towards the Magaliesberg and Hekpoort.
  10. I think you can also park down at Greensleeves?
  11. Looking towards the Magalies mountains, low cloud over the Hekpoort valley area...
  12. I spoke to the GM and he has confirmed that I will not be liable for any rebuild costs. I will still have to carry petrol costs but its still a more favourable outcome than me shouldering all the costs! Good on Momsen for having the GM phone me to sort things out, that was appreciated.

  14. Ja, I don't know. I feel bad for the bike shop as they gave me great service. Momsen/TWT is doing their bit to replace the frame but the whole argument centres around who should be liable for these additional costs now. I had another bike that had to have a frame swop so it was a 60km trip to take the bike back, no bike for 3 weeks, another 60km trip to pick up the bike (60km one way...), was hit with R500 odd to rebuild and have a pressfit bearing replaced as well...and then after arguing with the dealer that I didn't order a carbon frame and receiving a carbon frame discovered it was the wrong size AND the bike shop had given me another customer frame....so....that was yet another 120km round trip to take the bike back...and no reimbursement....just the kind of s...t that makes you not want to relive the experience again...! At that stage I was self employed so getting time to do this wasn't an issue. Life has changed now for me!
  15. I doubt it. I have heard from TWT. Although they will replace the frame I still have to pay for the rebuild. After my experience with another brand on this I really can't be bothered to do this. The bike is 3 weeks old so I don't see why I have to be out of pocket on this. I feel Momsen/TWT should be paying the bike shop to sort this out, not me having to pay the bike shop. Especially as the bike is pretty new. But ja.... Its going to cost me R500 odd in money as well as having to get time off work to take the bike 60km away from me to get it sorted out (assuming the bike shop would also be able to help me out and get it done quickly while I wait otherwise its even more money!) On a R7500 bike its just not worth the extra pennies in my opinion, still wanting to buy some new kit for myself so would rather thrown the money into a new backpack or something.
  16. Closing that door myself....Spoke to someone from TWT on Monday morning, they were sent the email and that's the last I heard of it...They said its the first problem they have had so I would have thought they would be all over it...! Momsen did not even bother saying anything on their FB page (via messenger, I did not post the complaint on the public page.)....shows you how much they care about their product..... Granted its only a lowend R7500 bike but its a bike I have had to work weekend nights stuck behind a bar for the last 6 months to afford...
  17. No I didn't phone them.(you would think in 2017 they could handle email??!!) However I literally just got a number for a contact as I type this for someone at TWT. BUT they did converse with me on FB messenger and I sent them the pics that way so they are aware of it....just slack I guess... I do prefer email though as both parties have something in writing....
  18. Not too impressed with Momsen...got this bike on the 6th or 7th of Sept....a 2018 AL129 Straight out of the box the Momsen badge fell off (....a omen....) Noticed last weekend that the clear coat is coming away on the seat stay.... Bad quality paint job on the rear drop out... Have emailed them twice this week since Sunday... Have sent them the pics via facebook (they said they didnt receive the email, sent to two different addresses so I resent it on Wednesday....) and.....Nothing.... I suppose its school fees for me...! I asked them via FB on Thursday if they received my emails and they read the message but didnt bother replying.... I bet its for my account to have the frame sent back, then sit without a bike for who knows how long and then probably have to pay someone to refit the parts otherwise they wont warranty the parts...! Bikes.....
  19. Taking my new Momsem AL129 out in Magalies...Not a bad bike at all for its price.....and I am starting to enjoy the 29er effect....! My only gripe would be the sneaky 'tapered' looking head tube that is actually not tapered at all on the inside!
  20. Started again (well, quit again!)....day 8 of no fags after smoking for about 18 months again... Helps when you get bronchitis and have to take time of work to try and recover! Cold chicken method....
  21. 16kg Carbon Fiber bike for R27k! Yes Please! http://www.bidorbuy.co.za/item/295793277/26_Inch_Mountain_Bike_Bicycle_Carbon_Fiber_Frame_Bike_27_Speed_Lightweight_Bicycle.html
  22. I am but I still braai for mates when they get too pi$$ed and everyone is hungry!
  23. Disagree, I love Webers, can braai on them, bake breads, do pizzas, in my carnivore days one Christmas we even did the turkey in one!
  24. Always, always remember you are an addict...I stopped for almost 6 years, had some personal stress in my life, took a smoke one night when feeling pretty low down and bang....started smoking again. Almost 15 months on and I think its time to stop again. I dont feel the effects too much on the bike but when running its pretty obvious I am a smoker!
