  1. I feel like such a muppet for buying my Trance 26'er last year.... If only I had known I wasnt a teenager, was taller than 155cm, was on a tight budget and wasnt sure if I wanted to mountain bike, I could have saved myself a lot of heart ache...! What a load of crap, cycle lab should be ashamed of such hate speech. As well as utter BS! Its the same bunch of clowns who told me I did not have enough money (when I had my insurance pay out) to buy a bike (R15k....!)
  2. The Landy and Lambo bikes above look like they were made by Dunlop....
  3. Quite a 'squat' looking bike.
  4. Good on you and your vet!
  5. HSI - Hub Scene Instigators....
  6. Should have hopped over him!
  7. No but I suppose if you are wobbling around with two hands on the bars then its to be expected....!
  8. Ok , that explains it, not really seen any knocking around until today.
  9. I had to go to Krugersdorp this morning and took the Maropeng road, I noticed a lot of road cyclists with those tri bars (straight bars up front) that could not for love nor money hold a straight course! Is this common? I would have thought on a road bike you would want to be in control all the time?
  10. When I made a rolling unit for my welder and bits and bobs I got some wheels at Builders Warehouse. They had quite a few different ones with varying diameters.
  11. I had Elixir 3's and although they were not too bad mechanically and did what they were supposed to do, they did have an annoying squeal when engaged. I contacted SRAM and they even gave me a new set of different rotors and brake pads at their expense but it didn't make much difference. I also tried a couple of other brake pads but with no real difference. I just had to live with it as I didn't have money for upgrades but personally if you have the money I would just upgrade.
  12. I still like coke though

  14. I have gone from my old steel rigid mountain bike (still hanging up!) bought around 1995-6 to a GT avalanche 1 bought in 2010 to a Ghost dual suspension bought end of 2012 to my Trance that was bought towards the end of 2013 as the Ghost broke and I wanted a different bike after that performance. I will probably replace the Trance in 4 or 5 years assuming it doesn't break....! My GT is my spare bike these days. Or for when I feel like bouncing around!
  15. If all you have done is replaced cassette and chain (and assuming the bike was 100% beforehand) then maybe its all 'bedding' in so to speak?
  16. Proper......!
  17. If you loosen the cable at the derailer and keep some tension on the cable with your fingers how does the shifting feel in the shifter unit, it should be easy to click your way up and down through the settings. As above, have you checked your limit screws?
  18. Do you wipe down your fork before/after each ride? The maintenance of the lowers seems to be critical with Fox and once you get the hang of it you can do it easily in 20 minutes.
  19. I have bled my Elixir 3's before without too much issue, maybe give it a go? I just used two syringes, some brake fluid and some plastic tubing and a couple of sprinkler fittings (literally a couple of rand). The video was on Pink Bike I think.
  20. The old Blaaubank mine is basically just ticking along, I don't think there is any mining on the go currently, I know a friend had some or other surveryors course there a few years back and they used to use it for various mining related training courses but at the moment the mine is inactive and it looks as though the land has been sold off to developers (sad news as we were hoping to make use of some of the paths that pass through the land onto the next area of grazing).
  21. Maybe there is something out there as its attempt number 4 or 5 now in the general area? And there have been samples taken in the past? Interestingly when I rode out in that area this afternoon I noticed a car (newish town car, not some random farm bakkie, you notice these things!) parked behind some trees on the landowners land. I could hear voices in the veld (its a hilly area with a lot of old mine workings/rock piles everywhere) so I went back up the road a km or so and circled back around, 4 or 5 guys took to the hills, leaving behind their phones, jackets, tools etc. I watched them flee and then crossed the veld back to the main dirt road and the car from earlier had gone. The area does have a problem with illegal miners (there are several vertical and incline shafts scattered about) and I wonder if the owner of that car was something to do with the company that made the application for the prospecting, perhaps engaging the illegal miners to get samples for them?....a Magalies mystery....! The Blaaubank mine is approx 4km from this area. But surely if there is nothing there then its best to let them do their sampling etc and discover there is nothing and be shot of this endless problem? Apparently the landowner has phoned the company and done whatever it is a landowner does in this situation and I think this is why the meeting was actually cancelled, nothing to do with voter registration?
  22. I recently bought a Trance, all XT, at a good price as no-one wants a 26'er apparently! Makes no difference to me as I will never win any races anyway!
  23. Just remember you will need to buy tools which can be costly at first. But I don't think its that hard (if you are hands on and don't get frustrated easily!)
  24. I do tourism in the area and the notice was just sent to my general enquiries box Now the idiots have said they are not having the meeting as it clashes with the last dates for voter registration. Shoddy and suspicious!
