  1. thats exactly what I said
  2. nice one! new gets my vote
  3. I did it in my work clothes before work one morning...not Ideal, but its easy. I cant remember which side you have to add it onto, but basicly you have to pull the lowers off push one of the plungers out and add a spacer to the plunger before re-installing, that will take up some of the space, in essence make it shorter, and not allowing your fork to extend as far as it use to, IOW shorter travel.. I just cant remember which side rem to take air out. I think it was non air side... I think.
  4. Covie we all know what you are talking about. But stop and think for a minute as what you are saying. If he does not have the picture in his mind he is going to do it all wrong..think about it. what you say and what you mean is not the same thing.. thats all I was trying to say. But the video will be better yet . look at my picture, where is my weight? surely not over my outside grip... My innertia G- force is pushing down on the outside pedal yes, and on a offcam corner you can help forther by twisting the bars to push the side knobs into the turn.. but again, It doesnt sound like the poor guy is anyway near trying to understand what me and you are bitching about.. you with me? I'll try illustrate. the first pic is what we both meen.. the second what it sounds like your are saying.. Forgive me..these photo's are massive like I said, its not about what we thingk is perfect cornering.. its about helping a guy who is getting into it.
  5. I dont recal "poster" to have mentioned all of that. This guy has obviously not been on a bike for to long and he is probably so confused by now he doesnt know what's up. I think getting around 80% of turns one would not need to go through the Crouch, pause, engage vibes you are mentioning here. I know when you need to push down on the outside grip (on offcam) but Im not going to go into that. I assure you one never puts your weight on the outside grip.Outside pedal, sure, when your inside foot is off the pedal I assure you, your outside foot wil be down. I dont want to get in a argument for argument sake here. Im just trying to help the man but by giving him some easy to follow advice that I know is sound and will het him to his next level, he can go figure it out.. do what works for you.
  6. Whahahaha!!! ed zaggery !!
  7. lot of opinions on here.. read somewhere to put weight on outside grip? that sounds well.. wrong! Do what Droo said.. Im taking everyone giving advice here has mastered it? Tires has very little to do with it, yes If you have the skill down 100% its about the tire but im telling you GM or Sam Hill will ride circles around most of us with slick tires. About the tecnique.. Go put some flat pedals on your mtbike. Drop your saddle this will give you more confidence. Now go find a dirt road or smooth-ish singletrack corner. build a bit of speed and in the standing up position with your arms bent a bit try get your upperbody weight over your inside grip. I find when Im waxing a turn thats often where my weight is. Its a good starting point, then dangle your foot alongside you so that when that front wheel does go you dont hit the deck. or unclip your inside foot when you approach the corner if you dont have flats. Hold those bars if you feel your front wheel is going, youre riding the bike, not it you.. force it into the line you want to ride. Contrary as it sounds, cornering fast is different to floating winding singletrack.. Go do it over and over.. Eventually you'll be going 4 x the speed and wont even touch down with your front foot. When your confidence is up, put the clips back on. when youre riding tutted trails dont try ride inside them inless the ruts are very deep and bumpy, ride in them. heres kind of what I ment...obviously this is smooth ish, ball bearing surface, with a semi slick park tire.
  8. Wiggo's top tube
  9. Exactly what I thought.. All the lance scandals and even the negative kind of image from the schleck's is making this brand a bad aftertaste

  11. I have never seen that Gutsy pom back down and although he might be focussing on the Olympics I think theres to much pride involved for Cav not to be in there. Trust me, He will want to show the world who's king. Also Springting in my eyes is very much a confidence thing aswell, and I bet he wouldnt want to start doubting himself ahead of the olympics. Besides I dont think It takes as much out of a sprinter as it does a GC rider to be up there..although If you dont have a team like sky you might reason otherwise..
  12. I Hate you.
  13. The only time I feel I need to change is when I spend time on the hub, or in a bike shop
  14. I take it "light air" is some kind of wind..
  15. soas he stated.. pretty much just new paint job. apart from the shocks which is components, theres not much new. That frame looks quite similar to the 2012 version.
  16. I read a longish write-up on Bikerumour about 27.5 yesterday where they asked numerous bike brands a few questions about 27.5 bikes.Scott, Spez, Santcruz and a couple of other big brands are not touching it for now... Im also not convinced. I think its for peeps who want to be on a different band wagon to 29ers.. And I wonder how much of a difference it really makes, Its like one inch.. I'll ride one if Im given one, but I seriously think its just another fad by people who want best of both which its not. Nino might get 2% more out of it then a 29er but me and you..probably wont notice it if we were blind folded
  17. or that
  18. Damnit.. I should be riding one. should never have sold my blur..not even for a Zula. Dont they/ you sponsor guys who will make the brand "look good" but not nesseceraly win races? I will take a TRC 27.5 thanks will ride Tokai every weekend and every race thats important.. and show style that makes the people open the wallets for a SC How the hell am I ever going to sell my Zula its got 26'' wheels.. In this country youre stuffed.
  19. Excellent work Holmes!! Andydude mentioned lots of guys will exit after the mountains, and I thought so too untill you said that.. My thoughts after the Giro was that he kept going through the mountains because he was working at his climbing, for the olympics of course..Ok It was also the only tour he doesnt have the green jersy for, but diddnt he say that he wanted to get the green In the Tour aswell?? If he can make it through the mountains he obviously has much better chance of getting green in the tour .. Although I cant imagine he can ride through a Giro, and a tour and still be there.. He will be toast and was for 2 weeks after the Giro, he said that himself. So there goes my theory..
  20. there
  21. Highest average speed of Tour winner 41.654kph: Lance Armstrong (USA) – 2005 40.940kph: Lance Armstrong (USA) – 2003 40.553kph: Lance Armstrong (USA) – 2004 Please dont turn this into a lance thread... that thread is a mudfest.. just saying
  22. At risk of sounding like a cynical old fart, I think once you have some business knowledge you might find easier ways to make money. IMHO running a bike shop is something you do for the love of it. not the first thing I'll think about when I want to make money. However there are guys making good cash off this Industry. Don’t question their integrity though.. On the flipside, you sound like you have a better Idea where you want to go at the ripe age of matric than what I did, so go for it.
  23. Put nice and thick grease on the SEAL part dont put to thick grease on the pawls It might actually get between the working parts and cause the pawls to "skip" Cant imagine having to rather listen to my chain going bezerk against my F-deraleur and chainstay than my GRRRRRRR of the Hope rear hub.. but hey. different fokes..
  24. I dont think this topic deserves quite as much attention as this thread has given Its a marathon / xc tyre for crying out loud... But I cant resist making the point that one will feel the effects of a heavier and more "grippy" for at least 4 out of 5 hours during a long marathon (beginner-intermediate) whilst all this extra grip might be used through one or two lose corners, and save you??? maybe 5 seconds. I rest my case.
