Its not even on CRC Yet... I think its going to be pricy! I ride Shinooke Specialites blades on my 970 XTR.. doesnt look to abnormal, but those with the kind of chopper blade "non symetric" look wont look good with anything else.

That is the new Blur carbon "inbetweener" TRC - Its more a exact replacement of the old Blur LT Like the one I use to own. It had 135mm ov Vpp travel and man I rode it everywhere.. Probably weighs 2.2kg's about.. thats much less than my Zula My ass itched to much though so I got a zula, I wanted more XC ish bike that I can still ride hard. I ride my zula hard but up to a point then that thing gets like a horse with a hot rod up its ass. Stevief: I wish that was my bike bro, Sheesh.. But Id dress her up soo nice If I had that kind of cash lying around. Oh my, dont get me started..

I got a zula, one, But Im a Santacruz Lover, If I had more cash or less sense of responsability I'd drive a VW chico and ride this .. oops, Im sorry this is a morewood thread But In all fairness, I love my Zula, and Im busy making her more cosmetic changes at the moment which should make her even faster
  5. Thanks Eiger, I dont like the Dull look that the ali gets when left untreated. So I want to coat it with something.
  6. Nice, Thats kind of what I thought.. Let it be! I think Im having pancakes & whisky while tstripping my frame tonight

Mines also around 12. with a reba XTR and light ali parts. No Carbon. Custom wheels. Think the Reba XX and The AM classic's will knock off a good 500g of mine, but sub ten is still far off. 11kg's is managable though, and mine takes a hard tokai in its stride.
  8. Anyone Have Ideas how to make it look more like Ti ? IOW bit darker? without giving it a solid coat ? Can it be treated so it makes it a little darker?
  9. Funny Im just busy thinking about changing my Zula. White is getting a little old and I think metal finishes are the new Black. So I want to make mine look like Titanium, not to sure How I was going to achieve that, 2 Options were a translucent gray/blueish colour, and the other to anodise. Aparently anodising isnt that expensive, lady quoted me R300 if I do all the prep work. So Im still not sure which to take. But I have all polished and White parts so I thing It will look neat in a all metal, white, gunsmoke and pollished mix. Thing is once youve anodised, Youre pretty much done, cause that stuff is hard. I might go for the Coat, and have it done by a pro... Dont want my Bony to look cheap As for A couat over your clear, Cape powdercoating in wallflower road pardon Island does a clear Powdercoat.. should be nice and hard.
  10. Pardon me, I looked at the pic, I see It already has a recon on it. I'll then substitute it with a FS frame
  11. But cash for grams. Current wheelset- prob around 2kg - R3500 American classics 1500g ? thats 500g Current Cranks- around 1kg - R900 SLX from CRC 750g? thats 250g Fork current RS Tora around 2400g R2500 Reba/recon off the hub 1700g thats 700g its not 100% accurate but food for thought.

sheesh you guys are on it
  13. I rode the foldable converted to tubliss for 18months, stood up but I found it especially bad on lose over hardpack type of stuff, the treads were not deep enough. but weighed 480g. I rode a Raceking UST at the back and found it faast! Im now riding Specialised I cant remember the names shows how much I ride these days. Rear Is fast track front Shauserwind, looks like XC highrollers, and nice light. I diggit. grips well in wet and dry, might roll slightly slower tahn monorail but much more predictable grip. nice for winter aswell. Biggest problem with converting non tubliss tires are that they lack stability in hard turns, unless you run the thing rockhard which kind of defeats the whole perpose. Monorail had lower rolling resistance and weighs about 60g less than crossmarks. Crossmarks are tough as hell but weigh a tonne. I only weigh 65kg, so I dont need the extra protection, mind you.

You might find the "over the bars" vibe is because the rear ramps before the front does, put more Pos air in the fork. Or run it at 130mm. It use to happen to me, I was running a 120mm reba on my 100 zula. when the rear started running out of travel the front would stil be compressing fast, so the rear feels like it kicks up because the front actually dives deeper/below level. use it- dont use it
  16. no-no, you need to be very serious
  17. I think....We read articles about training in our "bicycling mag" next to the toilet and read something we feel makes sense, then we go out and hold to it like Gospel. Meanwhile the workout was for specific period and specific purpose. Many of the above mentioned things and tips are true, but for different riders at different times. Im not claiming to be Yoda, but I think Ive tried enough, read enough and ridden for long enough to have some Idea of what works and what doesn't. To get fast you need to get stronger and fitter. The method in question here, The HR.. As many of you have stated, the HR is nowhere near as good a measure as power or perceived effort, which only comes with experience, I guess. HR is a cool tool to help measure when doing intensity training. Intensity training helps your body cope with max efforts for longer and recovering from that quicker, IOW It helps you ride higher intensity/HR for longer, It helps your body cope with Lactic acid. It makes your anaerobic system more efficient. If you want to get stronger, some were saying ride a SS bike. That only gets better with loads of long rides, doesn't matter how fast, but basically you want to up your "cruising speed". for that, just ride lots, forget about Intervals etc for a while and just try ride your bike allot, like every day! As you get fitter (if time allows) you'll be able to ride farther everyday.. In the end your body needs to get more efficient at turning a crank arm, the only way to do that, Is to do a lot of it. So HR doesn't do much for that. Learn Perceived effort, how long you can go at that effort before you kill over race just inside that. I just go as hard as I can If its under 3:30 hours If its 5 hours I have to back off a bit. If you're very serious, get a power meter.
  18. Any road shimano rear deraleurs ? Would be nice if it could be black

My Mate broke His GT the other day, He doesnt ride that hard either. So Its not like GT's are unbrakable. On the otherhand I have never broken/cracked a frame and those that know me wil agree I dont hold back. I rode a Santacruz Blur LT for 2 years and swore it was the best bike ever, maybe I stil do, but I wanted something bit more race ready, so I got a Zula based on reviews that One wouldnt have to slow down at all just because Its a XC bike. I agree, Up to a point I was immediately very at home on my Zula, neutral position over bike and loves poping over every bump in the trail. I only start noticing Im not on my blur when I fly into grarly stuff, Its then harder to control for sure, the blur saved my ass a million times but I have slowed down a bit because the Zula is 100% up to a point then suddenly get out of its depth and throw you off ike a stubourne horse. BUT, this is comparing it to a bike wich is in a different catagory all together, and In all fairness I think very few people would dare push the zula that far anyway.. And As Far as I know, that thing aint going to break either. Its built like a brick shithouse, I meen I wouldnt expect it to weigh 2.7kg and not be able to take the hits. Just liek I wouldnt feel comfortable gapping down drops on a 2.2 kg spark or scalpal. So, Its a damn fine bike, It makes th 4'' work as hard for you as one can expect of a bike, 4'' can only be 4'' long. The geometry is spot on and the bike does cover ground better than my blur did and it climbs better aswell in or out the saddle as long as you keep the fork to 100mm. I found a 120mm reba almost had me on my teeth a few times and it climbed horrable compared to how it can..
  20. mm, Might make my comeback on this.. How tecnical is it? Anyone done the race before? (55km) IMO technical = better Maybe the previous winners time will be a good indication of the difficulty, Anyone have that?
