  1. He's just flexing that muscle bud. I promise you you'll say the same of me. I eat all I see but battle to get my 1.83m frame over 65kg.. Thats why these guys climb well they have much less to take up. you know that I know youre just chooning but It gets to me when people comment about how thin or light you are, It makes weight an issue when It shouldnt be, Ive never even thought about it, Its how Im built. Now all of a sudden I worry when getting on the scale, like, oops, last week I was 66kg's but this week im down to 65..Oh **** I must stuff my face even more. If you are overweight, then let it be an issue, but let me be.
  2. I figuer people start riding ss to get away of complication and ruls races and be free. Funny they want now make rulse to put it back in the box Sorry Im not one of them Im just playing Devils Advocate here. I dont own a SS, only a fixi.
  3. Bliksem, Dit se daar in my E-mail "the crow" left a message on pics that make you wanna ride... THE CROW! Die F*KKEN KRAAI IS TERUG ! Hell brother where have they found you or have you been on a HUB fast? Welcome back, Ive not graced the pages much, trying to grow up but I do have a Morewood now even though its definately slower than my Blur down tokai
  4. What seading?? Ive never done a marathon before ever I'll see
  5. I gave it a serious consideraation for about 5 minutes.. Then I realized I'm not getting paid to do that, and I dont have to, So Im not, haha. I think the worst part might be the cycle, If they get a day of southeast the okes are going to **** bricks all the way out to michels plain.. No drafting, no bunches..the okes wont even be able to stay upright In the TT position ! Thats the elements.. Other problem, Michell's plain stretch.. safe? Appart from that, Lovely race I think.. A bit like Nice.. Is it nice? the one with the Mountain stages in the bike.
  6. Sounds like me, Doing my first half, Ive only done short stuff..10k 15km trailruns etc. aiming for 2hrs but I think its going to be hard with 15minutes of walking in the beginning.
  7. IMO Base training is Prepairing yourself for more strenious "Build" phases that come therafter. It gets your body use to being on a bike before you go rip your thigh muscle doing sprints up kloofnek. So For us mortals, Just go ride your bike, I'd say dont go to hard, but FFS turn of the HR monitor- Cadence sensor etc etc.. Enjoy the riding, If you take BASE so serious youll be burnt out by the BUILD 2 phase which is way more intense and there missing a session could throw out a weeks training. So yes, Just pic up your riding, go ride 2hrs after work insted of one, join a group sat and sunday for a 3-4 hr ride..
  8. I was doing Kloof to cable car repeats when I rode through a piece of metal like a spike.... got a papwiel So I stopped to change my tube. I was busy consentrating on the job at hand when a guy in a taxi stopped to see If he could help me, It was getting dark and I was aware that Its not very safe up there on my ace, so I admit I was a little Jumpy... As he stopped I thought It was an attack so I jumped down the side of the road with my half a bike in one hand and a wheel in the other, ready to "maak spore".. the guy offered me a lift home.. I felt a bit doff..
  9. You guys should wait for the winter.. whatever you do now will be disposed as dust.. Thank you for what you do, I would come help oneday, but Im just saying, Ive spent Years of my life building.. wait for the rains..
  10. ya cause tht "FRAME" of his must have snapped in half on impact.
  11. No no, point is he's actually a mtbiker! did a 3:51 K2C last year, its his 4th epic.. no pro but he can ride. a roady will really *** off, Point Im trying to make is how tough and technical these epic days actually are.. I meen can you imagine riding 7hours at 105km!!
  12. Friend of mine who rode a 2:48 argus (109km) this year finished yesterdays 107km stage in 7 hours 28 minutes I think they are riding more technical terain as a pose to going further. The first day was 89km and He rode 6hrs thats a long time for 89km!
  13. Im still pissed
  14. It was simply a problem with the disc pads that we changed the night before the stage. On the steep descends, the aluminium rotors were overheating and causing the brakes to ‘fade’ and loose power. Ai ai ai...aluminium rotors.. DUDE... as much as I am a fan, friend and biggest supporter.. Kevy... ALU ROTORS ???? Why buddy? Theres no need for this !! Alu heats up way way WAY more than steel.. It wil melt into pads Im not pretending to be the smartest oke out there, and who knows maybe in 3 years time were all running them, but ALU is weight weeny stuff, not epic material.. CARBON rotors, maybe.. but ALU. I cant get over it..
  15. Thanks gents. @ Dangle, This "afbliksem" just had more significance. but He's a balanced person, skeem He will enjoy the time at home with Ruby and Karin and when Its time to get back he wil come back with more hunger. I"m more worried about how Dave will motivate himself again..
  16. We are all scratching our heads about this, but Poor Kev will be having nightmares about this for a long time. Someone, Could be Garry fisher, said these profound words, I think he said it was revealed to him in a dream "Light, cheap, strong... pick any two"
  17. Unless the rotors Failed - snapped or something, Its the brake system... no reason why rotors would suddenly cause No brakes what so ever.. same thing happened to him in the Grape escape I recon he probably blamed it on air in the system and had it bled, meanwhile it was a faulty brake system..which popped its head out at the wrong time in the epic.
  18. I would think carefully....
  19. Oh By the way, My Bottle holder broke after 40 km on day 2 of the race. I was riding down a downhill when I herd a noise and felt something hit my calve from the side, first thought stick in my spokes, but my bottle had broken off< landed on my backwheel which flung it into my leg, Ouch! So Had to ride back up, get the bottle stick it in my jersy pocket cause I needed the liquid badly. still 70km of big mountains to go. Those topeaks are a Effup. Our Topeak workstand also broke the other day. I dont trust things they make anymore. I since bought a specialized one at the argus expo. Was R156 bucks I think. Havnt fitted it since. And have to admit Ive hardly beel on my bike since.
  20. I have seen that ! He should join a circus! People always ooh and aah hinking he is out of controle.. legend. @ polo- Ons moet vir n ride gaan!
  21. Dont worry I seem to have found the answer to my question.. Seems the Pro's start just before 12, So I'll go around 10, get up to the spots in about a hour, then the buildup..Cool thing is one should see them come up and down, not just pass once.
  22. I cant seem to see the Start times.. Can someone tell me what time the top guys will be starting?
  23. Stand going downhill or on very technical flat stuff, all other stuff sit down. Climbing rough terain standing up will have you on your face before you know it, if not that spinning out. Smooth climbs with Plenty of traction, stand up & sit down in intervalls to releave the bum and work some other muscles, but keep that extra reserve for the last 20 km of the race when you need it.

Its not permitted at the trails If you bail on a dirt jump you land on your feet 9/10, theres not much headcracking boulders on trails and remember time slows down when youre up there, so you just bail your bike and land like a cat. On fast singletrack He always wears a helmet. Im not expecting to win this argument, Just telling you why we do it.
