  3. My collegue found a pair of cycling shoes in the tokai parkinglot this morning before work. PM me the size and where you were parked and I'll get them back to you
  4. blur TRC... ..
  5. He said the drivetrain had a lot of friction..but not to sure.. I recon one can learn to ride anything fast... as he proved when riding the ciclocross bike on supercycling that time...
  6. :P
  7. this one is just to get my post count up so my acount doesnt get deleted
  8. Oh my eff... I almost "reported your post instead of relpying to it Im a big fan of The travel adjustment on forks .. I might prefer a lyric with a 2step or a revelation with through axel up front. but ya.. I bet the price was beaute..
  9. Whats the question? Crow you getting more PORN? Yeez bra you have owned some sick bikes. I dont think theres a question for me, you know what I'll own.. I will own.. and this bike will be what I dreamed about all my life.. a bike you can blast down the roughest lines with added amount of skill and finesse, but also roll up at the start of a 100km cx race.. or slap a short stem on and go DS at delvera for the day.. Ive given up on owning 3 different bikes, because after Ive had to negotiate which way home from woodstock to kloofnek (theres 3 routes and all of them have their days) I dont feel like planning which bike I want to pic.. Ok actually i just cant afford it So heres the bike.. even Greg Mineer cant shut up about how good this bike is.. If you need more skill the Nomad will do but I reccon the Idea behind AM is that you do ride up.. and I think the heavier the bikes get to 13kg's the less likely you are to take the long route home Nee lekke..get a Nomad but build it light.. youve never been into the uphill race..
  10. The berto ruling is comming up... Before the end of the month apparently. cant wait. Positive or not, this thing took so flipping long, one could swear it was run by the SA gouvernment.
  11. Neels at Woodstock Cycles should sort you out.
  12. My Word i cannot Imagine riding the 24hr solo in heat like today. It should be a bit cooler but sheez louise...Good luck guys. Im so unfit after getting married and honeymoon I'll want to burry my bike after this event If I tried.
  13. I think the scott comes with 110 travel and 120 in front, should make good for trails. But why do you want to get a xc race bike when you enjoy trails? get a trance, or any other 5' bike, much more worth it if you dont race
  14. Alu stem for sure, Even the most expensive carbon stems dont save you more than 10g As for bars, they absorb a bit of vibration, espesh a mtb bar. As for not cracking when they crash, Im not so sure..carbon fails easier than alu when you crash..
  15. Who's Bryton? haha What device won the comparison?
  16. Wonder if you will be tested positive because of that
  17. If price is not a problem, Eastons all the way.. The reviews I read and longterm test reviews on US and UK blogs are all good. Mavic's might not be to expensive to service but parts are expensive and they do need TLC, more than any other wheels Ive ridden.

    Specialized Tyres

I have used Maxxis LUST, Conti -raceking UST and they are both good but heavy! I changed to Specialized Fast track rear and shauserwind "2bliss" and they are much lighter (100-150g per tyre) 2Bliss is Specialised's own UST standard which is not quite as overkill as the Maxxis and the Conti UST's I get away with using Maxxis foldable tyres converted to tubeless on the front, although they get a bit squirmy if ridden to soft. (I did this purely for saving 250g per tyre over UST) I have found a happy medium in the specialised tyres. Converting non tubeliss tyres can be done if you are a lighter rider or the payoff is worth it for you, but even my light 66kg's was a bit heavy especially around tokai and karoo, so especially at the rear, I dont think its worth it. Just get a tubeless/2bliss and forget about it.
  19. Last year the dirtroad was like the flag for racing to begin, as we hit it the bunch split and about 15 guys got away, I was stuck inbetween and almost died to get back on a wheel of the 15.. made it in the end but the peleton cought us as apart from the one short steep little climb its flat as a pan.. Would be nice if the finish was a bit closer so the break could survive. In our back bunches the guys that are keen to work is few and far apart.
  20. Thought so.. I evan that 36-25 would hurt.. espesh at that distance and 2 weeks into a stage race... I think we forget that sometime... I meen My legs probably produce only 70% of my potential at the end of a 4hr Mtb.. These guys are Madmen
  21. 1.The climb up to the top taken early on. 2. Wiggo squealing 3. Cobo, obviously also in the hurtbox, but looked much more composed on tv. photo"s from steephill.tv
  22. Jeez Louise looking at how Wiggo's body was squeeling up the 23% about 2km from the finish yesterday I think the courses are hard.. really. Cobo was one of the only guys who looked strong enough to peddle through the steep parts out the saddle. Wonder If he was using different gearing? In fact they had to be.. Unless they were doing 18km/h up there, cause the cadence never dropped below 70rpm.. anyone know If they would run compact gearing? I run 11-25 and up kloofnek my cadence gets below 70 on the 3rd rep..thats only 8-10%
  23. Here it is.
  24. Oh My word that V10 is HOT.. Ya must be seriously light.. When GT first brought out the Fury in carbon they said they made the frame roughly the same weight but 10x stronger. Ali's weakness is at the welds. Where Carbon can be made up to 5/6mm thick where the strenth is needed and then tapered down. I think Carbon had a bad rep because it was used for the superlight top end race bikes, so they did use thin more vulnerable sidewalls, but in all fairness im sure far more ali bikes fail than carbon, and its pure perception that make us doubt it. I think what santacruz started doing was push the anvelope as far as strenth goes, but only after they learnt a great deal from the origional Blur LT and XC. The LT did not weigh much less aas the Ali version at all but before the nomad and the new V10carbon, SC said the blur LTC was the strongest bike they ever produced. Anyway.. Im sure you knew most of this.. I like the advance of material technology being a product designer we all had fetish's about designing carbon goods when we studied 10 years ago, but it is still verymuch possible as it's getting more common and its not so mystical anymore... Would love to own a Blur TRC though..
  25. I have had my eyes on this to replace my ZULA... But the zula is getting a make over, so let me see how that looks first. this will be nice and light though, as you prove.
