  1. JGR it depends how much the beer costs
  2. Then why arent there more non TSA events. The only people interested in them in any case are the top 5%. And untill the rules of world tri changes we wont ever win an olympic medal.
  3. Reeds ingeskryf vir hom ook.
  4. Again did they invent/patent the sport of triathlon? Why must events be TSA endorsed? I organise a triathlon and ask entry fees but discard TSA totally what will this mean? Am I allowed to do this? Look at what is going on in swim SA. No money to pay the athletes but the heads of state has to be at all the overseas events in 5 star accommodation.
  5. 26 October there is events at Aldam. Excluding day license fees I am doing the following:- 21km Trial Run Olympic Distance Triathlon 35km MTB Total cost of entries - R250 The day fees will be the same. So the governing body is taking half of everything and they will not be there. (assuming) The thing that I don't understand is who decided that TSA now OWNS the sport. Yes why cant we just have non-TSA races? Less than 10% cares about winning and prize money in any case. Who are they to disallow me if I want to organise a non TSA event? Did they invent and patent triathlon?
  6. Can I win again?
  7. Its gonna hurt like hell but bring it on
  8. And 32GI is a brilliant product so thanks to them as well!!!
  9. Thank you very much! You really made my day.
  10. Hahaha aaah! Check your email. That might be sooner than you think!!!
  11. Thanks DaveM I am trying to get the standard negative hubber moaning about everything going here but every time you stop me dead ion my tracks with your factual responses. It shall be taken into consideration when we meet/race again
  12. Cool so I have to find a club. Will do.
  13. Don't order Lamb Vindaloo the evening before the race
  14. I know this has been asked but is there a combined annual license that allows me to run/cycle and do Tri's? I don't do enough of the three disciplines to merit the annual fee (3 x R500 probably) but if I pay R100 every second weekend for whatever I wanna do it also hurts. If I was only a cyclist then it would have been easy. Unfortunately I do around 5 cycle races annually, 20 run races and 5 triathlons...
  15. Well I think they should consider the half stadium / full stadium issue.. Do you ask R100 per ticket and get 15,000 people at the event or R50 and get 30,000? More athletes = more events around the country More events = better for us as there will be competition which in return will also ensure top quality events all round I guess R100 per race for me is not that bad as I race alone. But say your wife and 2 children also start doing races...... DaveM do TSA publish their financial statements? Should be interesting to see how much revenue is from races. Do they also get Lotto grants? Maybe they should be more transparent in terms of the value they add. For us normal athletes we only pay pay pay and never see anything hence the negativity...
  16. What does those times mean? How does it work? Do you ride circles for 2 hours? I am definitely interested! We need some more action in Bfn!!
  17. Lemme ask this... does any one of these so called "fatcats" actually take part in any triathlon events?
  18. That is because the hub becomes a very dangerous place when you wonder away from the Multisport forums. For some reason the Trolls don't hang around on our threads ... Go to "Chit Chat" or "Rant and Rave" post something (even something nice) and you will be eaten alive within minutes.
  19. Maybe one day! I just think their vision should change to something in terms of trying to get everyone involved. Tri is such a family sport. It is not one if you have to pay a R100 levy at every race for something you cannot see. But ja maybe we are missing some of the positive things that they do as well.
  20. They have been flamed previously on the Hub. I just cant find the link. It was interesting. Someone actually posted their exact tariffs. If you want to organise a Tri for example you have to pay them R15,000 or something. THey don't help, they do nothing they just give "approval". Ask DaveM. He used to organise a few races... You can also ask the Spectrum sport guys........
  21. Of course. They ask R100+ per athlete per event. They also charge fees if the organiser wants to air the event on the TV for example even though they have nothing to do with this... or do not do anything to earn the money they just give "approval" whatever that means.... It is always annoying at IM after paying the R4,200 entry fee arriving at the registration and the leeches are there waiting for you. Then they take your money and add no value (in my opinion). TSA is not adding value for the R600 they take from me annually. But lets not get started...
  22. Must also be why IM is expanding their series.... It used to be IM. Then came 70.3. Then Bela Bela, now Germiston...... Soon these guys will have an event every 6 weeks......
  23. I really don't understand this... BSG series was sold out every weekend with 2,000 guys still paying their R350 entry fee (or whatever it was)... This gives you a R700,000 budget. Now having this race at Roodeplaat dam or wherever cant be that expensive. Triathlon is so bloody expensive a sponsor shouldn't even be needed... Ironman? R4,200 x 2,000 entries = R8.4m I think BSG has left a massive opportunity / gap in the market.... The same with those Joburg tri races.... Who ever hosted them made a fortune. Germiston lake... only 5km of road closures and a very expensive entry...
  24. Well does the chocolate milk hard to digest really matter? Its after the race so what if it takes 10minutes longer to digest? Obviously its different when actually racing. You also need too consider that should you have eaten breakfast (and are well rested), you should be able to run 2 hours (cycle 2 - 3 hours) without any nutrition and still be OK. However should you run/cycle for longer than that then its NB to eat during the first 90 minutes. That's why all the TDF riders dump their bottles in the last 20km as it is too late to make a difference. Also that's why I found Froome's gel eating craving in the last 2km of a mountain stage quite funny as it probably didn't make a difference except if he was handed pure glucose.
  25. Yes. They are from China and they are fine.
