  1. check this video: http://www.vitalmtb.com/news/press-release/HT-Components-Welcomes-Aaron-Gwin,462 then check the screengrab. helmet look familiar? now that's legit I'm 95% sure that's the helmet he's wearing. are we going to see a new trend develop?
  2. it IS a seriously good looking bike, I must say...
  3. I'm thinking about it right now...
  4. you're not helping...
  5. yes - a straight line
  6. Eventually. Right now the budget doesn't allow it anyways - in fact, even selling the Commencal frame to buy the Cotic will be tight. So for now I'm just dreaming. As always. Remember though, I had a hardtail before the FS (and one less great than the Cotic), and Jonkers was a blast. It can be done - it's all down to line choice. And I kind of miss the simplicity of the hardtail. BikeRadar's review of the Soul: http://www.bikeradar.com/gear/category/bikes/mountain/product/review-cotic-soul-10-frame-only-35940
  7. My Commencal really will make a good donor bike - with that coil adjustable travel Sektor up front and those burly AlexRim SupraBH rims with the 15mm through-axle...
  8. I reckon on this bike I'd either not miss the rear suspension, or in fact ride better, on most trails... Contermans - will appreciate the lighter hardtail on the climbs Jonkershoek - ditto, might miss the rear sus on the rocky bits Meerendal - no brainer Majik - ditto Oak Valley - o my, imagine their groomed singletrack on this beast the list goes on I must just keep dreaming though, I don't think it's going to happen any time soon. Problem is though, I was itching for a long travel steel hardtail before I even bought the Commencal, and usually when I have an itch I EVENTUALLY scratch it
  9. I am on a couple of forums, and to date this is the quickest and most impressive response I've seen from a retailer / shop owner - apologise, make it clear that there's 2 sides to the story, have the manners and maturity to not get into a mud slinging match and then offer free coffee (and cookies!) to everyone. Dammit, why do I live so far from Hout Bay
  10. Yeah I remember same idea - hardtail with geometry that can run up to 140mm fork - except it's steel, and cheaper than a chameleon. Buycycle has the frames on special for R5 800 at the moment... and I'm thinking my Commencal will make an excellent donor bike...
  11. I wouldn't know, I haven't ridden one yet. But all reports would indicate so. Dammit.
  12. can't stop thinking about this bike ...
  13. low 20-s if I remember correctly. It was R27 500, a while ago but it's dropped since. Bearing in mind, these retailed for 32k when they launched!
  14. there's a 2010 Reign X1 at Geco Cycles, brand new, with a great price tag on. But no, that's not why...
  15. I don't know if I am yet. Just doing some sums
  16. keep telling yourself that...
  17. did you mean to say 15-20, or 10-15?
  18. damn that's a tempting offer
  19. only ridden by 1 old lady rider, to church and back on sundays
  20. Just testing the waters here - but what do you guys think I could get for my Meta 5.5 if I flogged it? To recap, the frame is an '07 Commencal Meta 5.5, custom paint and graphics Rock Shox Sektor coil fork, 15mm through axle, 110-150mm travel Rock Shock Monarch RT3 high volume rear shock AlexRims SupraBH rims, Giant front hub, Formula rear, converted to tubeless FSA headset Giant stem Truvativ BooBars Lizard Skins Peaty grips Avid Juicy 5 brakes Sram X7 shifters, front and rear deraillers Truvativ Stylo crankset, with a bash guard instead of big ring DMR V12 pedals, pretty dinged up FSA carbon seat post WTB Pure V saddle
  21. "Prepare for the 650B wheel size revolution" Intentional pun?
  22. do we really need a third wheel (size) to confuse everyone even more?
  23. it's all image bro. 38mm? it'll look like a jump bike
  24. cap - no 30mm rise option on the renthal. i do like that spank bar, I must say
  25. @CPT - NFL jersey? keep it real bro, I'm watching you. O, and if I go CRC - 5 words: SPANK SUBROSA EVO 747 GREY problem with cutting the boobar down is that the bulge limits how far you can move your shifters and brakes in :/ @dean, the rush sports site doesn't specify whether it's 20mm or 30mm rise, but AFAIK they don't have the 30mm in stock. They also list the new Holzfeller on their site, but AFAIK they don't have those in stock either. I'll drop them a mail anyways
