  1. hey cpt - got any more pics?
  2. winner is getting chosen today, here's holding thumbs
  3. http://www.vitalmtb.com/videos/features/Red-Bull-District-Ride-Finals,9127/sspomer,2 Lacondeguy at 00:58 - my word. that guy gives me goosebumps
  4. The Zebra and Giraffe track rocked because it was a remix but yeah it worked well Pity about Needles' Afrikaans narration, I was like, what?? I also loved how he said all the good spots were right there in Somerset West, and a second later he's standing in Cape Town Central and then shredding Contermanskloof
  5. Sam Hill's segment in 3 Minute Gaps was cut to Rob Zombie's Dragula. It worked, just sayin'
  6. Classic bro code violation "CAP SAID I MUST BUY........" was nice meeting you guys, I had a good time but wasn't feeling it today - need to go back and get smoother
  7. I use my knee guards on any trail / AM ride with anything remotely technical - e.g. Majik, Contermans, Jonkers. As soon as I'm done climbing the seat drops and the knee guards come on. It's given me TONS more confidence
  8. hehehe touché someone better tell the athertons!
  9. Oh, THAT'S why the're winning. And all this time I thought it was talent, dedication and balls! I suppose the fact that Gee Atherton has started wearing a toilet seat is the reason he's no longer on the top step... It's all so clear now! How are they guys riding with the Omega braces doing?
  10. I ride with these: Outer hard shell with 2 layers of ventilated foam. Rather comfy and cooler (I would imagine) than "sock" type guards, but if you're doing a lot of hard pedalling the straps will eventually get a bit uncomfy. Wore them all day at the dual slalom and just had to adjust them once late in the day to make 'em comfy again so that's good. Got them at CWC for R320: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/lizardskins-knee-body-armor There are elbow and knee/shin options as well
  11. I don't have the balls, bike or body armour for this race, but I'll gladly spectate
  12. Subrosa rims, definitely on my list. Or Oozy's...
  13. I think I should do one in "farmer" brown, and have it made up where does one get jerseys like this made / printed?
  14. Thanks
  15. Subrosa bars look good too. pity they don't do a 20mm rise - I have become pretty comfortable with my Boobars at 20mm rise :/ Would love some Subrosa or Oozy rims for my sled though, hmmm...
  16. that's a good looking set of bars, hmmmmm
  17. I might hold onto them, we'll see, but if I sell I'll let you know...
  18. Curious to see what the hubbers are running on their AM / trail rig cockpits, in terms of stem length, rise and bar width and rise. For example, I'm running: - Truvativ BooBars - 780mm wide, 20mm rise - 60mm stem with 5 degree rise, and +- 10mm spacers under it I am thinking of switching to the new 730mm Holzfellers when they come in, the BooBar is great on the descents but still feels akward to me for climbing. Also want a new stem, might go 70mm but I don't really know why - bars just feel like they may be a little close at the moment... height overall is perfect for me... What are you running, and how do you like it?
  19. wow quite a debate. allow me to add my 2c the one thing I hate about the hub, is the absolute lack of integrity with BUYERS. I troll the classifieds often, looking at cool things I don't need and can't afford, but want anyway. If I had a rand for everytime I've seen the following comment thread, I'd be a millionaire: OP: Item for sale, XX Rand Commenter #1: Dibs! Commenter #2: I'll definitely take it if #1 doesn't!! Commenter #3: 3rd in line please, very keen! Commenter #4 (a week or two later): Still for sale? OP: yes still for sale! O? what happened to the 3 guys that called "dibs", "definitely want it", "pm your bank details", "i'll take it", etc Now in this case the buyer definitely did want to buy the helmet (as he's made clear by his post) but the point I'm making is if you, as a seller, "dibs" your products for every guy that's shown an interest / is negotiating postage with you, etc you could lose out on a lot of sales. As much as it sucks if someone has come up with the cold hard cash you take it, unless you have AGREED to hold something for someone for a period of time. Just because you call dibs, doesn't mean the seller has to give you dibs, we're not in play school here! I hope that makes some sense...
  20. this is a close up of the plaid pattern, hard to make out when sized down
  21. Animal / Atherton Racing is running a comp where you need to submit your kit design for the Athertons - winning design gets worn at Red Bull Weekend Warriors, plus you win some stuff... What you think of my entry?
  22. yeah I'm not scared enough when riding grip is AWESOME - too much weight. these tyres are awesome for DH but not as awesome for pedalling up long steep hills. I am no weight weenie but I am progressively trying to shave a few grams here or there, just to get things reasonable. Also changing my cockpit as soon as the new Truvativ stock arrives - new bars and stem should be a bit lighter as well

  24. I have, on occasion, almost made out with the tree in that corner
  25. So Sunday morning myself, Cap and a friend of mine hit up Majik for a chilled trail ride. I realised how unfit I am when it took me ages to pedal up the hills - but then on the way down things got interesting. Thinking that Cap and said friend were still ahead of me (I had stopped just before the descent to pump my tyre) I was trying as hard as I could to make up time. By the time I got to the forest section I had settled into a very nice rythm, determined to catch them. At that last gnarly bit (by the corner of the dam) were a bunch of cops (patrolling the forest I think, getting rid of undesirables) I greeted them as I whizzed past (the 1 cop jumped about a metre up and a metre back thinking I was heading for him) and decided to put on a show - by hitting that gnarly section as hard and fast as I could - and hit it hard and fast I did! I proceeded to blast through there faster than I ever have before, and way smoother! That short little gnarly bit may not seem like much, but hitting it the way I did has some significance. Firstly, it means I am finally getting my riding, and rythm, to a place where I am satisfied with how I'm riding. Secondly, it means I am starting to gel with my new bike, which, by the way, is an absolute gem on gnarly stuff like that! Thirdly, my confidence is now through the roof! And lastly, there's no feeling like flow! O yeah, and when I finally got to the car park I realised I'd been chasing ghosts - my riding buddies had taken another route down and were actually behind me
