  1. I havent taken them out of the packet yet so dont know if they fit or not, but they just look a bit smaller and thicker - hense my quesie, but I am afraid I fear the worst, as you say, I dont think they gonna fit.
  2. .............my LOOK cleats were very worn out so, as I work on sat I asked my wife to pop into the local shop and pick me up a new pair, which she did, but they look (scuse the pun) differant and the pack says LOOK KEOS. My wife says she walked in and asked for LOOK cleats and thats what they gave her, they didnt ask what type of LOOK pedals I have, if they are not all compatible. So my question is, do I have to schlep back through traffic today and swop these cleats or are all LOOK cleats compatible, if not that salesman is gonna get an earfull. widget2007-11-19 05:11:17
  3. Yes, I got there at about 5pm on Friday evening, as I was in a hurry I rushed in, missed the sharp left turn, cunningly disguised by a clothing station into the registration room, and marched all through the expo, fending off pamphlets and out the other side without registering, only on my second trip through did I find it. Agree on the finish, it took forever to get out through that stoopid little gate with thousands of cyclists blocking the way, although I must say I have a pet hate about cycle race abultions, these were state of the art and nice and clean, which was a pleasant surprise. widget2007-11-19 03:55:22
  4. I am so ******* frustrated with this expo issue, yesterday I thought I would leave the office in four ways at 3.45pm dash through and collect my numbers and be home at 6pm.? HAH!! After sitting for 40 minutes in a traffic jam on the M1 I took the next exit and went home. Its a joke, now I wasted two hours in the car, an hour and a half off work and I still have to go back today - so I achieved ZERO. I have no interest in the expo, I have everything I need, and to me its nothing but a waste of my precious time, I am honestly in two minds about just canning the whole race !! There should be options at the entery process, one should be able to choose, YES I will collect my number and my goody bag or NO I dont want a goody bag post me my number - or something like that. ...............my goodie bag from last year is still lying under the stairs - unopened.!!! - if I wanted some old publisher over-runs, socks that dont fit and a sample of cheap oats I would go buy it myself.
  5. Either way, I would imagine the bike manufacturer is immaterial to him, its a business decision and its based on where he gets the most attractive deal for himself for the year. Raynard is one of the nicest most humble guys in this sport, I hope its a good deal for him, he deserves it.
  6. I have the AM CLASSIC 420 road wheels on my training bike, is it the same hub? Hey, I am technically useless so I dont know.
  7. Thats interesting because I also have AM CLASSIC wheels on my training bike and at a recent service I was told they needed replacement. I was told by the shop the only bearings that will fit are the original part from the agents in CT, and that there are NO generic bearings (ie) from a bearing retailer, that will fit. The original bearings for both wheels cost R560.00. Now I dont know how true all this is, but I dont have time to go looking around bearing shops and I wouldnt know one bearing from the next or how to fit them (I am also not interested in doing it) so I said go ahead, BUT IN THE INTEREST OF HONESTY I would be very interested to know if this is in fact true and if they can be found as generics, so if anybody else has had this experience, I would be interested to hear about it and if it is not true I will put the shops name up here. I wonder if Johan Bornman would know.? widget2007-11-14 08:01:11
  8. Hmm, Okay, cant say I have heard of him.
  9. I think Dick Pound did a great job, with little assistance from the sporting bodies who did everything they could to withold as much information and make life as difficult as possible for WADA, he had the "cahoonies" to stand his ground, state his case in no uncertain terms and shamed many an athlete who tried to beat the system. Did they mention who is in line to take over his position HR?
  10. Simon Fourie, editor of BIKE SA and presents a tv show on motor bikes etc, has never been one to mince his words and he has said repeatedly, "Motorcyclists MUST learn to obey the rules of the road, you WILL live longer, be healthier and save a lot of family drama." I think we could just adapt this slightly to read "CYCLISTS..............." He also had a little comment the other day and said - "EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED, even if you are in the right of way, that car is not going to stop at that suberban stop street, the driver has lived there for 40 years and he has NEVER stopped at the sign, if you dont EXPECT him to stop you wont get side swiped or worse - ride defensively, be visible and live longer.! Again ,I think we can just substitute "CYCLIST" and it applies to us as well.
  11. Quite frankly, who cares what the woman in the shop says, the retailer is just the intermediary, your issue is with the manufacturers representitive here in SA, so, in theory, any retailer who officially represents that line in SA should assist you,................THATS SIMPLY WHAT YOU DO WHEN YOU REPRESENT A BRAND,................... I dont see what differance it makes where you purchased it, maybe you moved up here yesterday from Blikkiesfontein, what are you expected to do, get in the car and drive back there for service? The problem really is ,.............. service levels across all walks of life in SA are so dismal, when someone just dos their job, we almost fall over and think its "outstanding service". Outstanding service in your case would be if the distributor sends the wheels back to your abode (so you dont have to drive around) via courier at their cost, and for your inconvenience includes a voucher or a free hat or a whatever, this could be followed up by a call a few days later by the retailer or distributor to see if all is okay and to convey their apology. But, Hey, will that happen here on the dark point of Africa.......................very doubtfull, but in a service orientated country like the USA it would just be NORMAL and EXPECTED,.......................................... note I said, "NORMAL and EXPECTED" ........................not "OUTSTANDING".! widget2007-11-07 07:48:16
  12. Thats interesting, I havent been there for months so it dosnt interest me, but a good example of "how to loose customers" dont you think.
  13. I think it has more to do with the ATTITUDE of the cyclists. As a runner and a cyclist, I have found in general runners (maybe because they are much slower) tend to obey the rules of the road much more than cyclists, who sad to say in general have a crappy attitude. Perhaps its the "herd mentality" because they ride in bunches they feel invincible, are full of false bravado and feel its okay to do as they like, but cyclists on their own tend to be more compliant with the rules of the road.
  14. - What a joke.! I had a good chuckle.! To answer your question - No you cant lay a criminal case of any type against anybody for voicing their opinion - what next, maybe lay a criminal case against your fellow motorist who showed you the finger and shook his fist at you through the window.!! Its their opinion, who cares, read it, have a chuckle and move on.
  15. Hmm, Yes, agreed, he dosnt exactly come with a "squeaky clean" image.!
  16. Hmmm, seems all is not well in the land of Nod.! But you know what............................I couldnt care less!!.
  17. You were probably just tired.!
  18. Hee,Hee you cant hide hey? No sweat, I was in the Blue Audi waiting to turn into the BP garage off Klipriver.
  19. Hmmm, nice kit Big Ben. Pity about the two guys wearing it on Sunday morning down Klipriver drive zipping through the RED lights.! Not nice.
