So there was wrong 14 years ago, lets extract retribution on anybody we can and wrong them now.? Is that your attitude eezymiles.? Tit for Tat, an eye for an eye.!! Then, we are no closer to reconcilliation and heaing the wounds of the past than we were 14 years ago.! .................and I believe complaining DOS help, certainly sitting on your butt and saying nothing leads one to believe all is well, making your voice heard loud and clear allows others to join and the more voices, the louder the message. widget2008-01-28 07:29:52
  2. In general, high BP is caused by either a narrowing of the arteries due to a cholesterol (plaque) build up on the artery walls or a hardening of the artery walls which limits their dilation - (ie) the arteries become less flexable. As I said, its very, very unlikely in someone as young and as active as yourself. If you are concerned have it checked, but young woman generally have high levels of good cholesterol, which actually cleans the artery walls (unlike men) - I dont think you need worry about it. The condition can be genetic or caused by excessive weight (obesity) poor diet (a diet rich in saturated fats), lack of excercise etc - (certainly I think this is highly unlikely in your case).
  3. There can be many reasons as some of the past posts Amoryn, from something as simple as a poor fitting helmet to something as serious as high blood pressure or arterial blockages. Headaches are generally related to a persistant physical issue, as you obviously never had them before, theres a good chance something physically has changed recently. One of the most common causes of persistant headaches is your eye sight, again it could be as simple as a new pair of sunglasses or perhaps you need minor prescription lenses. It would be a good starting point to test your eyes. I dont think someone as young and as active as yourself would have a high BP or arterial blockage issues, but it is fairly common for woman to have Low Blood Pressure, however, headaches are not a common symptom from this condition - however, again, it can do no harm to visit your GP and ask him to check. widget2008-01-26 01:59:21

    road bike

This (the Hub) is a good place to start your search but at the end of the day understand most people here are just going to say "I ride a Bianchi - never had a problem", "I ride a Cervelo - great bike", "I ride a Cannondale very comfortable", "I ride a Trek - so did LA so it must be good", I ride...........whatever",...........understand, this is NOT advice, this is just re-enforcing a buying principle or decision,....... usually their own.! Spending R25.000.00 on a bike based on what somebody else rides, is ludicrous - if you do that you deserve to be parted from your money with a poor buying decision. Take a few days and look at various options, then get an informed opinion on the componants and the frame, and thats not the salesman pitch of "I have been riding on XYZ componants / frames for years now and never had a problem"........... research the web, theres lots of info there, ask at the shop about fit, discuss the kind of riding you will do, could you later upgrade cheaply, do you need a Dura Ace gear set when you will only be riding on Sundays with mates and two races a year, the bikes handeling - a pure race bike has rather "skittish" handeling, is it suitable to train on daily, race ready light rims are not great at staying the distance on pot holed training roads, perhaps you have a medical condition like a spinal injury or a joint problem, all of these things will (or indeed should) influence your decision. Remember at the end of the day - YOU and only YOU will be stuck riding the bike, not your buddy, not the salesman and certainly nobody here, make sure the bike you buy SUITS YOU - by all means listen to suggestions and advice, but the final decision is yours and yours alone. Make it wisely and you will be happy, make it based on somebody elses opinion and you may be sorely dissapointed. Have Fun.
  5. If its a small cut JL, Naaaa, I dont bother. Although if you are getting punctures from little stones getting through the cut, then Yah, you gotta change, (Obvious I guess) but if you arnt getting punctures dont worry about it. As far as punctures go from cut tyres I have tried all the usual stuff they reccommend, tyre boots, bits of plastic, patches etc - its okay for a "get you home repair" but it never lasts. If you getting punctures, change the thing, otherwise you just gonna get irritated.!
  6. Haaaay man, who cares, the guys a "Drama Queen" as someone else said. I actually think he is quite funny, he certainly has a sense of humour,..................... take a deep breath and think happy thoughts, the poor guys probably dreading checking his e-mail now.
  7. Hmmmmmm, I have a similar problem Jim, last year I rode VD but this year I didnt license and hardly did any of the big races except the 94.7 and I crashed. I see my Argus seeding is "A" for this year but I am not really in shape at all, and after crashing out on Sunday again, I am not certain its gonna happen anyway - so I figure, I am gonna start back with the wifey in "G" and see what happens.!! Hope I can hold on.
  8. - After all this I just had to have a look at his (Seth) site, - I think he is as nutty as a fruit cake, he is hilarious, (and I mean it in the nicest way really) - I mean getting attacked on the beach by someone with an umbrella - really, dont that only happen in "Mr Bean" movies?? ...............and whats with that "movie" - I dont know, the guy has too much time on his hands.! ...............I wouldnt take his post on cyclists too seriously, I think he likes a bit of "Drama" in his life, he should write for some soapy.!
  9. I find my ideal heart rate is when its beating.!! Further than that, I dont worry about it. ................but seriously guys, its not that important, just go and do the thing, unless you put dinner on the table with your cycling results, its just amateur sport, dont let all the gadgets and technology take over and ruin it for you.
  10. GOOD HEAVENS.........Now theres a post I never expected.!Who would have believed that.? I always park at Panorama and often ride past the Lido - personally I always thought it was a "Nigerian drug lord strong hold" and I would never have even thought of venturing inside. Although I do remember spending some "interesting times" there in the early 80s!
  11. SNIP....................SNIP ?? Once they have sold out of current stock and no longer have helmets in their portfolio why is it their responsibility to find another helmet??! Crash replacement is usually only offered while there is stock. If the model being replaced is obsolete a distributor or manufacturer only offer a simlarly priced item.Since CCS no longer import Catlike they are under no obligation to find catlike for anyone! SOmetimes expectations and reality don't walk hand in hand. I dont necessarily agree GL, when someone imports an item and puts it into the retail arena, they assume responsibility for that item. In other words they are making a statement "I think this is a good product and I am selling it with all warranty and service back up" a customer who buys it, dos so in good faith, and in the knowledge that should there be any issues later, they will have a service back up. Is that not what everyone here (or a lot anyway) use as an argument to buy local "BECAUSE OF THE BACK UP"???????? Otherwise why bother,............... Import the flippin thing pay half price and if you dont get service later, so what you saved big on the cost. You aint getting the service or back up here ANYWAY.! ............But the differance is "I can almost guarantee you, the international shop / distributor WOULD have suported your issue" CCS is a reputable importer, if the product was purchased with the knowledge of a discount or a crash warranty from the distributor, I feel they should honour that - or there is ABSOLUTELY NO INCENTIVE TO BUY AND SUPPORT LOCAL.
  12. Did you ask when they gave it up Kranswurm? If they were the official distributor when you bought yours surely they could do something for you. I mean its not your fault they gave it up, you bought in good faith that they would still be around in the future,so why should you be left out of pocket and compromised?
  13. I do believe I heard somewhere, its the same as the Cannondale distributors, Cape Cycle Systems? But I may be wrong, give them a call first. Dont know about the crash warranty.widget2008-01-21 01:23:01
  14. There is nobody in this country above the age of 12 who is unaware of our past, and there are very few people in the world who are not aware of our past, so nobody can ever pretend it didnt happen. The past is gone, there are millions of people world wide who were oppressed, murdered, tortured, burnt in chambers, gassed, were removed from their land, their houses and their families, millions of people have just disappeared, millions are incarcerated in hellish prisons or camps without trial. We are not the only nation with a past. What do you want us to do, grovel on our bellies and live in the past?,.......... must Germany still atone for the sins of Hitler and Riechmann, must white Americans still atone for the slaughter of millions of Indians, must Australia still atone for the removal of millions of aborigines from the land, must New Zealand still atone for the oppression of the Maori people, how long do you want to remember?? Yesterday is gone, you cant have it back.
  15. Yup, I am surprised at the number of cyclists out in the morning and evening without lighting of any sort. Last night it was a bit murky and on my return ride at around 6-15pm I must have seen 10/12 cyclists, not one with any light. This morning I was driving to Alrode South at about 7am it was overcast and grey and I cant tell how many cyclists were out without lights. Theres no substitute for visibility.
  16. precisely!!!! NP=ANC=Lying politician scum!!!...and the media went from SABC=SANP=SANC I didnt see that post. ..........but really fandacious, the past is gone- move along now.
  17. I dont condone murder - racial lines are irrelevant. However, I see this particular gentelmans attorney has succeeded in having him remanded for observation - they are claiming he has had previous history of mental instability and has now just lost complete control of his facilities and had no idea what he was doing, and hense is not accountable. If thats the case, well fair enough - he knew not what he did. If not, then he must be held accountable. But I do agree on Delgagos opinion on the M&G newspaper, they are antagonistic, opinionated AND gutless in my opinion mate.
  18. Oi,Oi - sad to hear such news. As dumb as it sounds, go report it to your local police station, they will probably do it again and again and hopefully sooner or later get caught, then the more cases opened against them the better the chance of a conviction and getting them off the street. Dont just leave it bud, do the right thing, (even if you think its pointless) and open a case.
  19. As I understand the memory cleats are only applicable to Kleos not the old version Look cleat - is this right? Anyway as my shoes are not compatible, my question still remains - why cant they find an easy universal method to change cleats and keep original setting. Why only compatible with some shoes - Cannondale and many bike manufacturers dont make shoes, they buy them out and brand them - and I dont think Cannondale has a huge shoe market, so it seems rather silly to have them as a compatible partner. Nike on the other hand, do make shoes and sell a lot more than Cannondale (I would imagine) yet arnt partners??????
  20. Hmmm, interesting, but dont help me. I have the old type look pedals and cleats (and I dont intend changing - theres no reason) and Nike shoes. Now what? I hear you swiss, its a real hassle, they can put a man on the moon, make fuel from coal, send a diver into Mariners trench and send electronic mail everywhere instantly, but they cant find a better way to change a R100.00 cleat. Someone is not applying their mind here.
