  1. Please for the sake of the poor red robot, don't anyone reply to this thread further. It is clear from thios last post anicca was never looking for reason to motivate abiding by law set for safety. Me in my car has deemed red robots unsafe but don't worry fellow cycists I'll be on the hooter all the way through - I never liked those things anyway. Who does the traffic department think they are anyway, don't they know the rule does not apply to me?
  2. Ha ha! I'll need to reserve some of the training time for hand gestures & foul language..
  3. Let's approach this differently for a minute. You have a kid and he/she is learning to ride. The school is a ten minute trip from home and you live in a reasonably quiet suburb. The trip to school makes use of mainly backroads but crosses two traffic light intersections. The goal is for the child to eventually ride to school unattended.. How does she treat the lights at the intersections? What does one teach in preparation for the day he/she rides unattended?
  4. Whoa! These are some pretty serious consequences. Would you be willing to take responsibility for the kid who follows your guidelines but gets it wrong? I'd like to know how you start your first sentence to his parents justifying his wrong as right. You don't see the implications of justifying running a red robot? Then you should speak to my friend who is still disabled 27 years later and maybe explain to him carefully what he did wrong because in your head, all the advice his parents gave him was worth nothing. Or would you be willing to accept the feeling of guilt from the driver? This man spent weeks at the hospital waiting for the kid to come out of a coma, only to discover the severe level of brain trauma that will impair the sight of his remaining eye, hearing, balance, memory... This left the man feeling a little more than "upset", do you have children? You being the voice of running red robots should be prepared to accept some responsibility when people are maimed and killed following your advice, but you don't. The police report will always remind him that he ran a red light, was he wrong? Debatable.
  5. Indeed he must be bummed! Feeling for William Simpson too, skiing must really suck, this would have been his tenth event now he sits out with Williamson for the same reason!!
  6. ".. is a plus for 650B riders because the larger wheel requires a slightly more exaggerated lean angle to emulate a 26-inch bike" hmm all I can say is, you bought well Iwan San. When the fad is over just flick the switch, right?
  7. The monitors are not employed by SANparks, it is a privately run project first introduced by NCC in 2009 and later taken over by HWS in 2012.. link here. http://www.hwsolutions.org/our-projects.php
  8. Thanks, I was looking for a quick summary..
  9. Coming back to incident in July when the two cyclists violently lost their bikes in the park, TMNP did respond quite well actually but not without the correct motivation from TokaiMTB, who by this stage had already tracked the perps all the way back to people who could ID them. It would almost seem TMNP want/need the involvement of the groups managing the MTB activity on the mountain - as you would know Rob from your experience in the North. TMNP are very helpful but only once you've provided clear directive and enough motivation. I will find out what has transpired since the incident, taking the matter up with Hilton and the several groups who I involved in July. The incident rate cannot be left to spiral out of control before intervention happens!
  10. haha, thanks for the laughs guys. Even my Sukuma pissed itself laughing.. all over the floor.. I need to clean up some Stan(d)s
  11. Try NEW Head and Shoulders and say goodbye to dandruff forever ..I know what you mean, I just wished I rode mine more! At least I can see it from where I sit
  12. How's it going? Been a few weeks and ready for a plastidip update. I'm surprised you say the BB is higher, is the Jekyll really that low?! The Sukuma is seriously much lower than the Reign, i've started clipping the pedals even with 160mm on the front. Ha, reading about the jump line initiation I got flashes of my third trip out to space that the sent me off to emergency room / Stay alert, it is that different!
  13. Hey, better admit it before someone actually posts that pic.. as far as I remember, it was not pretty.
  14. hey, and how bumpy was that road? My teeth rattled for days after chappies.. yoh!
  15. can we stop quoting that pic now, please?
  16. I would at this point advising against making statements that could harm the process. Why don't you wait a little while so you can get a clear understanding of what we need to do... All in good time. While we do have friends in the city, it needs to be said that the city are engaging in several heated topics around Parks policies right now. Hopping on the bandwagon with the few councillors showing sympathy with us riders before elections, may not be the best course of action while we sit around the table drawing up management plans - and certainly not before they need to appoint consultants for pending studies.
  17. There was a confidentiality agreement of which you are now in violation... I have edited the text for anonymity and to protect the identity of the innocent. Views and opinions on this forum are not necessarily those of the closet roadies mentioned.
  18. ..as if the road could take any more mayhem!
  19. Yup and sort of. It blows through but not a problem, not that I've noticed. The shock needs to be worked on though, something about a dead spot on the top of it's stroke.
  20. I find it interesting that the 2005 Reign was stock with a low volume can. I always felt I was missing out not having it in HV but the pedalling was just too good to make a swap, so much so that when I replaced the shock after the Manitou finally gave up 6 years later, I went straight to the LV Fox boost valve. Then I broke the 05 frame and bent the 2012 replacement 3 months later. Ah the old reign loved flying..
  21. Ha ha, without dirt no-one knows who he is, those cameras would be pointing the other way if they did... or are they just too embarrassed to look Mayhem, can't say I'll be joining you on the road but if I do see you I'll make sure the Subaru wind gust comes from at least 1.5m away!
  22. Chrysalis is to the right at the top of Tokai road as you reach the T intersection on your way to the trails. There will be boards indicating the direction. The Tea hall is the big building right in front as you enter the boom, you can also confirm with security.
  23. it's called jay running and found mainly in the heath conscious sector. The irony, I know!
  24. Cool idea.. but would it not be better to fill with helium for a lighter bike?
