  1. Heard SC are working on the rear linkage.. I like that bikes now have so many options to run different almost everything. Before one would have to buy new for even the slightest change.
  2. There has only been one bike to sway my choice from the Reign and it's this. Keeping in mind that I've been on the Reign since 2005, proof that it will take something really, really special for me to window shop.. What a beautiful bike! PS, Irony is that back then it was the Nomad that got me looking for a long travel do it all bike. Life clearly being all about revolutions!
  3. Think it's the entry into that section before the boardwalk ride. At pace you would fly for a while.. It'll all be back.
  4. Saw you bust some moves down the DH!
  5. Thanks Howard . Was looking for this post from Facebook, glad you knew where to find it.. it was yours after-all .
  6. While Tokai is closed, there is no link other than the tar up ou kaaps, sorry (hence the determination to have the place open early.. like September, October, November even!)
  7. From the TokaiMTB Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/tokaimtb/posts/569587733234979 It's official! The new mountain bike routes as presented in the revised 2016 mountain bike Environmental Management Plan are officially open for riding. With either a day permit or annual card, you now have every right to be on the same trails as walkers and walkers with dog but courtesy is still vital! Slow for pedestrians and be cautious of not startling animals whether on a leash or not. Maybe it's also best to keep your speed in check due to the many blind corners mixed into some steep and rocky descents... there will definitely be some portage but there is no shame in walking. Thanks to Amarider, Table Mountain Bikers and PPA for assisting in this painfully slow process. While it has taken several years to complete it is at least a process that has offered the most reward since mountain biking came to Table Mountain. You are really going to enjoy it, the views are spectacular! The web link included in this post will take you to the maps on the TokaiMTB website and support the signage that is already in the ground. There is very little chance of being lost so don't rely on this as an excuse should you be found riding where you may not. It is important that we respect the few rules as most of what has been achieved in this document is made in good faith. One note on routes: the Pipe Track is unfortunately closed for repairs and be warned, it is undergoing major reconstruction so expect this to be out of action for a while. Enjoy! TokaiMTB web link: http://tokaimtb.co.za/2016-revised-environmental-management-plan/
  8. Approved maps and signed Environmental Management Plan doc have been uploaded.. https://twitter.com/AMA_TokaiMTB/status/803866353291689984
  9. Exactly.. there was something malicious in the driver's actions for sure. Straight stretch of road with good visibility.. and the obvious law breaking that brought on the situation in the first place. This was intentional.
  10. ..well after landing it on the moon you must still be able to ride it, surely. Who knows, their next model may even get you to see uranus...
  11. It was general consensus to one comment asking that a rather detailed study first be conducted. Within a few minutes on the first trail we could already see that many of the concerns are already a factor, not something new that would be introduced through a new user group.. If the concerns expressed were really an issue, the study should in fact include all current user groups and would probably result in the paths not being used at all. The good news is that some trails are very well suited to mountain bikes as the gradient does not allow for high speed and in other places low vegetation allows good viz.
  12. ..and of those 27, 2 warranted site inspections. Just 7 minutes ago I received the notes of the two inspections and it should be noted that hiking and running have their own significant impacts on the environment. It is wrong to assume that mtb will need extensive and exhaustive studies in order to share an existing trail. If anything, we need more signage for hikers informing them of the need to stay on the trails...????You are right, it will be public as soon as the responses are compiled.. he says with a sense of trepidation.
  13. Really well actually. We have our first draft of responses and the site visits were something worth doing.
  14. As bizarre as it seems, these pics make me want to ride! Imagine not being allowed to bring your bike and spending a full day restoring trails.. the memories! And unashamed product placement of Devil's Peak supporting the end of day's reflections..
  15. We met and discussed the format for responses to the comments received. A few prickly points came up in the comments and as such a site visit to the areas in question will need to be conducted. Dates are booked for the 28th and 30th but by this time most of the other responses should be compiled; meaning we will be very close to sign-off should the site visit go our way - if not then we'll surely need to make a call about the areas to not hold up the rest of the process.. Of 171 comments, 144 were pro.
  16. Meeting on the 15th to review the complied comments and responses. Nearly there!!
  17. Exactly.
  18. I've waited 6 years to find this pic. Dave Trumpore, Clementz - http://www.pinkbike.com/photo/13009070/
  19. Oh the irony, Meurant's face is mostly concealed by his beard.
  20. no, that'll make you an off-roadie.
