  3. Hi my Pina weighs in at 11.2 kg with bottle cages and pedals cost me quite a bit though. Ritchey superlogic handlebars carbon Ritchey carbon stem and seatpost Easton wheels 1540g Mostly XTR except front and rear derailers XTR pedals Rock shox SID 11.2 kg with crossmark lust ust could almost knock off a 1 kg if I went with lighter tyres.
  4. There are other factors, last year on stage two I was watching and met these two people from the Holland who pulled out on stage 1 reason....... snowed too much in Holland and couldn't train. Now there are things as indoor trainers and spinning bikes but I think alot of overseas people dont do enough homework about the epic and under estimate it.
  5. Have to agree and the closer to the start this happened the less time they would have lost.
  6. This years 99er going over the handle bars at 45 km/h in the Vets group, won't do another road race in the rain.
  7. I think he would have won on a 26inch as well. The man is amazing down that rock garden and he was just as good last year on his 26 er.
  8. I have had a bike with a rp23 shock (GT Idrive carbon) its a great shock on the downhills but I do prefer something I can totally lock out. I then got a spark 30 with the dt swiss shock not as good as the fox on the downhills but ok but I do prefer it as you can lock it out. I then got a Pina with a rock shock rt3 (very much the same as the rp23 fox not lock out) which I have now changed to a dt swiss lock out.
  9. Agree know of three ladies who had hardtails (my wife included) who moaned like hell and didnt ride as much, all went FS and now you cant keep them off the bikes.
  10. I guess everyone thinks where they live has the best trails. I like to think I am very lucky living on a farm 3 km away from the Eselfontein MTB track in CERES. I also could be a bit bias as I do help Deon Malherbe to maintain and create new trails, check out this years race as Deon wants to create some new bits.
  11. I was involved in that crash and it was Ladies and Vets not Masters I'm not that old.
  12. Bummer if you answer the ad and come race day and you find out its Victor Matfield.
  13. Miss SA is riding but I doubt its her.
  14. Don't know too much about a little petrol in the diesel but I do know your car shouldn't have a problem falling into a big pothole Slaapstad.
  15. But surely once the gravel settles the straps will become lose.
  16. I have EA90 XC's have to change the back bearings often and have already broken two spokes if I break another one I think they may respoke it under warranty, heard there was a bad batch. Otherwise they are nice and light and role great also look very bling on my bike.
  17. The only hold up you will realy have is turning right up boyes drive lots of people cramming up a steep climb if you on a mountain bike just go around the right.
  18. Agree

    Argus Sub 3 Kit

Like all those guys who leave their sticker numbers on their bikes 6 months after the epic has finished....brag gats
  20. Probably going to get burned now by all the hardtail riders but every beginner rider I know after riding a dual wanted one. I know of 6 people who replaced their hardtails.
  21. Also sometimes guys are late or didnt do seeding rides etc. so if you stay near the front of your group you will probably find a few strong guys just remember dont try and stick with them if they are too strong dont want to bonk at Chappies. Balls to the wall on the downhills passing slower riders but its fun.
  22. Another rookie mistake is to catch a bunch in front of you and slow down to their pace. Rather go past keeping the same pace and if they want to join they must ride at your groups pace k@k them out if they move to the front and slow the pace down. In my opinion the best place to be is the first ten riders don't have the elastic effect, more accidents happen near the middle to back and you can keep an eye on any break aways.
  23. I agree never realy been one of my favourites prefered Jenifer Arniston. Don't know why Brad changed she probably can suck a golf ball through a hose pipe.
