  1. I ride Ikons with Stans, on 3 different bikes. Many thousands of Kilos, no problem. I think , looking at the tread wear and how long you have had them, that maybe you have not ridden them much, perhaps this happened from standing for a long time? This is only an assumption, please correct me if wrong.
  2. They are almost 150 grams heavier than their competition and only the 60 tpi reasoning for better sidewall explanation, which does not seem to work anyway. So, not a great prospect.
  3. That DMR tensioner is actually pretty good. Perhaps you should try it 1st.
  4. On the same day as Napier patatfees mtb. The town nextdoor. Nee manne, julle moet met mekaar praat. There are not that many events at this time in this area, bad planning/communication? Now I have to miss one and I wanted to do both.
  5. Fantastic! I cycle/ commute in and around this area regularly. It is not as unsafe as people think, JUST BE VISIBLE. I find JHB motorists mostly very considerate as long as you are seen. Electric bikes for the people not wanting to sweat before work, and own power home, simple.
  6. Kandui, you would be most welcome I will also take you on some very lekker rides where we will not trespass!
  7. Are the 2014 Roval sl not 28 spoke? Very light ( I would guess under 350gr), hookless/stronger rim and a lekker 23mm internal witdth. I do not know their cost, but I do know they are sold here as a separate rim.
  8. Ist of all encouraging someone to shoot a trespasser is saying its ok to commit a very serious crime in reaction to a rather minor crime. In the more sophisticated societies, there is a right to roam. Do you really believe the land/ earth belongs to you? Its been around for several billion yrs and you and I only a very short time ( maybe a hundred yrs). I think the land owners need to relax a bit, I DO NOT encourage trespassing, but unless there is an actual threat to you or damage to your property, why the big fuss? I would personally rather pay for access but the places who have allowed mtb access have actually benefitted in their security and problem reporting ( like forest fires etc.)
  9. YES, Suzie could easily win, would just need to make a break on the climbs. I vote Suzie for President!!
  10. Ek trek na julle geweste toe einde van die maand en sien nou lekker uit hierna.
  11. Robyn really deserved this one, absent marshal is just unacceptable at a major UCI race.
  12. I dislike the noise level at big events. The rest has been stated by everybody above.
  13. You can see that the 10cog makes a big dif in the ratios, so dropping that and then only 40 big cog just will not give nearly as much range as 10-42 , if you are running 1x. So as a 1x setup, Shimano is a lot more limited. Sram 32 chainring gives about same ratio as Shimano 36 chainring ( if run on their respective cassettes), then Sram has 42 to match the 32 front ring, very dif from the 36 and then 40 of Shimano. If much cheaper and even longer lasting it may be considered ( I find the 10-42 cassette already lasts twice as long as the previous XTR cassettes, also 1x11 chain lasts much longer, for me.)
  14. I am just going to let Rouxtjie speak for me, helluva sensible ou.
  15. Just try it, you will see.
  16. I am very happy to hear the Vets and Masters are getting better prizes. I would think they make up a very large proportion of the participants in most races and therefore the competition is fierce, and should be rewarded accordingly. Perhaps prize money should be based on number of participants in a given category?
  17. I have tried my LBS and various other cycleshops around JHB, no spare jockey wheels for XX1 available. Cape Cycles say, 'Sorry, we are out of stock' Jammer om te hoor van jou k*k, so sad too bad. This is swak! Really, really pathetic! How can we support a local industry when they plan ahead like this? So what now? I will have to carry spares for all the wearable parts on my bike it seems.
  18. I am interested in the same question and also looking at these two frames. I prefer the threaded BB on the Tallboy but the price is an issue. Momsen !!! please bring the Vipa out with threaded BB!
  19. I think it looks pretty good, not a bad price for carbon, but plastic would do for me. Neutral black colour would be my choice. BTW I like the wheelrim and frame choice!
  20. Make your own No need for a thick plastic as in the previous posts. Use a plastic file folder cover, easy to cut and easier to bend than the thick plastic, also last plenty well. I have made many, use them a lot, and given to friends, easy.
  21. The strange thing is that I think Johann Rabie and Neil MacDonald are a strong team, not sure Max has the right form at present , also very short notice for the Epic. Kevin seems well on the way back. I wish them all the best. Overall contention may be very hard, though.
  22. I like Uvex also, light and ze Germans make good quality, for a low price. Fits my head. I did not like Rudi Zuma, you can have mine. Bontrager and Bell did not fit me well
