  1. I checked on my Galaxy Tablet this morning and I still cannot see the page numbers within a thread, only Prev and Next are visible. From my PC he newl layout is perfect but I rarely browse from it.
  2. Probably works well on a road bike but on a Mtb. . . . . . . ?
  3. Only Previous and next are visible so I have to browse the topic page by page. Is this only because I am browsing on a Galaxy tab?
  4. I like the look and feel of the forum. Just can't find any way of jumping to a page within a thread as the only option I have available is to go to next or previous page, one step at a time. Old layout showed pages and you could skip to the beginning or end. Is this a setting issue that I can overcome. Browsing on a Samsung Galaxy tablet. Thanks
  5. Just to let everyone know, the sikaflex option works. Unfortunately the amount of sikaflex I used ended up adding quite a bit of weight. I just applied too much of it. Over time and with experimentation I am sure you will be able to reduce the amount of sikaflex used. Got bored this morning and converted back with bontrager conversion liner.Sikaflex is actually quite easy to remove. Each blob comes off the rim as a single piece. Bontrager rim liner kit must be the easiest conversion kit available. Even seat the tyre without sludge. Maybe I try it again when I have some time. Now to go for a ride!
  6. So I went for a ride this morning and my valve started leaking around the rim opening. Came home and decided to try the Sikaflex option. What a job to clean the Joe's kit off the rim. Turps, then degreaser then benzine. Blow dry with compressor and applied the sikaflex. Now we wait for it to set. Lets see what happens. . . . . . . .
  7. Can't see any reason why presta would not work. I run similar pressures on my adventure bike to my mtb .
  8. I might just try my wife's. bike wheels this way as a test. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. . . . . . . Btw if you're interested in the thread with pictures of the process on the Wilddog forum, see link below: http://www.wilddog.za.net/forum/index.php?topic=14946.60
  9. I have never replaced a spoke but I assume you would just seal it with sika-flex after the repair. If the repair leaves a small hole in the sika-flex the slime might plug it automatically? Not sure? Won't know until we try it.
  10. I have read on the Wilddog adventure motorcycles forum of a way in which some of the chaps have converted their KTM rims to tubeless using Sika-flex and have been wondering if anyone here has tried it. Apparently the rim needs to be cleaned thoroughly arfound the spoke nipples as that is where the sika-flex needs to adhere. Once clean and dry just apply a blob over each nipple and spread slightly to ensure proper adhesion and leave to set. Then fit tyre and inject sealant as normal and it should work. In motorcycles they dont use sealant as tyres seal properly on the rims. This indicates to me that the sika-flex might me superior to rimtape as it is tough and will not be easily damaged when removing a tyre as I have done while repairing a flat before. I want to try this some time when my next tubeless maintenance top up is due in a month or so unless someone else beats me to it. If you do, please let us know if it works.
  11. Must be a dud. My son has one and it works perfectly. Bad luck!
  12. At 1,89m tall I wouldnt consider a 26 er at all, and at 118 kg a dual susser would tend to be more comfortable on the body. Go ride the bikes then decide.
  13. Sometimes there is retro cool and sometimes it is like turning oil back into coal.
  14. My son and I went out for a ride at Holla last friday morning. Yellow and Maroon routes were closed due to the rains and the river being impassable. We had a great ride. Some of the bits on the banks of the river were beautiful singletrack but a bit too technical for me so I walked them. Somehow this enhanced the outdoor experience and also gave me more insight into what it takes to build and maintain these trails. All in all a wonderful experience. I did miss 2 markers and my son called me back twice. No fault on the course builders part here. Just me not paying attention. After the ride we met Nic and he really seems like a nice guy. Holla is run very professionally and has in excess of 280 km of trails. My perspective on Holla is that we need more farmers like Nic who are prepared to open up their farms to us. This is not their main occupation and the income is small relative to farming activity so we should regard access to these beautiful places as a privelege and complain less but rather give constructive feedback as Nic definitely listens.
  15. Ok. Now I get it. This is actually the MASOCHIST CYCLING thread. I respect your eccentricities guys and gals. :)
  16. Pardon my ignorance but I dont get the singlespeed thing. Building the bike I can understand. Technical process of creating a beautiful new machine. Riding the machine is the challenge for me. As it is I need all the gears I have and sometimes wish for even more. It seems to me that the retro process might eventually mean ending up on a bike without a drivetrain. I think these were the also set up with non pneumatic tyres and called boneshakers. Fancy riding that for fun. Now I fully expect to be flamed for my ignorance but hopethat some clarification might occur as well. :)
  17. Great to deal with honest and ethical people with a proper service ethic. My favorite LBS!
  18. The way the free market normally works is that you show your disgust by not buying the product. Thst is ecercising your right. Buying fake goods is stealing the right to the brand that someone else has spent time and money to develop. I am sure that there are other products that you want but cant afgord. Do you just take them? Just because the asset, i.e. brand or intellectual property is virtual does not make it any less significant to develop. Exclusivity is part of the value and strategy of a brand. Stealing just because you can is and will remain wrong.
  19. I see this thread is tonge in cheek or at least I hope so. When dishonesty is approved of if the victim is a corporation or brand but in another thread we condemn the fact that stolen bikes are only stolen because there is a market for stolen goods, we are beyond hypocritical. In SA we have a major crime problem and it is not ok to condone any form of theft or criminality. Maybe you just need to be the victim of a personal crime or a corporate fraud which almost sinks your company to get some perspective on it. Got that off my chest. . . . .
  20. I picked them up as I was exiting the farm. I dont know them so cant post picks of their lost bikes. Their feeling was that these muggers were lying waiting for cyclists as they seemed well prepared. The Farm is the only safe place to ride in that area.
  21. As I was leaving Northern Farms this morning I was waved down by 2 guys that had just been held up at gunpoint , tied up and had their bikes stolen. Luckily they were not beaten up. They lost a carbon Yeti with shimano RR and a Spez Epic. Best advice is to avoid riding in that area.
  22. Great service and always do the right thing. I love their value system. Talked me down to a bike my ability required when I first started mtb riding. Could have made a much larger sale,I respect people that dont take advantage of others even when it is in their own financial interest to do so. Called integrity and generally in short supply in business today. I have referred many newbies to them with confidence since then.
  23. I looked into this before I bought my X1. Apparently this problem was limited to a series of frames produced for the US market. I am sure your frame will be replaced. Good luck and let us know how your claim is dealt with.
  24. My anthem 29 er did just over 2500 km on the first chain before it broke and I replaced it. Keeping it clean and well lubed has limited the wear on all gears. Should get 5000 km on thec rear cluster judging by current wear unless the wear does not occur at a predictable pace. Never done this sort of mileage before so cant give more insight.
  25. I have encountered the same problem with my hilux in that you cannot access the back without removing the carrier as the tailgate gets in the way. I have been toying with a swing arm which I recently tested it on a 5 day multi stage event with major 4x4 routes included. The final version is being produced and should be available in the next couple of weeks. This is the fourth version and each one is a major improvement on the previous one. Trial and error . You will be able to attach either the thule or hanger type of carrier to the final product. No idea of costing at this point in time but shouldnt be overly expensive. I have some photos of the current unit in action if u are interested. Pm me for more info.
