First race back for me after long battle with post concussion syndrome from crashing at ride4sight in Feb. Hoping the grey matter holds up with race intensity nervous excitement to be back at the races

Im still looking for knee pads, but finding shops that stock different brands in JHB is proving to be difficult. Ive been down the online purchase once and they didnt fit so i am hesitant to buy without trying. Any suggestions where to go to try on in gauteng area, will travel to PTA if i need to.

Some exciting possibilities on the horizon for Gauteng enduro. I rode at Thaba trails yesterday and was told they are starting to put in an enduro trail with the idea of having 5 complete trails in the future and hosting events under the DRI banner.

This is my only hope right now. Previously went into game thinking I could get something but wasn't allowed in that section.

On a similar note does anybody know if it will be possible to get sealant or even a tube from tomorrow. I punctured my front tyre (broken valve) on day 1 of lock down and my MTB has been standing since then.

Anybody perhaps have experience with the Leatt DBX 2.0 and 4.0 winter jackets? With winter approaching I needed a new jacket and thought i will look around for some specials floating about.

True in the sense of shuttles rather than riding to the trail head but like you say the trails are not all out DH. Never done this even but it always seems to get a lot of thumbs up. The Jock road race is the Saturday before so can get in some practice runs on the sunday before the event. (2 weekends in a row of riding in the lowveld, doesn't get better than that) Lets hope it will go ahead

Definitely putting this one down in the calendar, hopefully will still be able to go ahead as scheduled

After a looooong time putting parts together i should be taking her out on her maiden voyage tomorrow. Just need to pick up a set of brake pads first thing in the morning. Only thing left really is chain guide and a dropper post.

I read something about 3 enduro events planned for the year with SA Champs scheduled for October Would be pretty neat if it goes ahead as planned.

I have often looked at koppies and hills and thought to myself something fairly decent could be put together around that but then i think what sort of authorities does one need to go through to start building trails? For example the sort of trails you could build at Suikerbosrand nature reserve has huge potential for the reserve but i can only imagine the red tape with it being a national park.

Aah yes forgot to mention those trails. What would cover most or all of the enduro type trails - Buffel? Im looking for somewhere to ride on saturday morning, would anyone be keen to meet up at Buffelsdrift?

Reviving a very old thread here but after being away from enduro and Mtb for a number of years I've finally got a new bike built and ready to make my way off the tar... In light of this thread are there any enduro events or rides still happening in and around the Gauteng area? I know Hakahana closed down but have seen a new bike park opening in Pretoria that seems to cater for enduro type riding and events. Following that is there still a series and/or events happening in KZN, if it means getting a few guys together to make the drive down that way for an event and some good riding I have no issues. Keen to hear some thoughts and feedback from the vaalies

Nope fully agree with you, no reason not to enter. You are still aware of the risk and are taking measures to avoid getting caught up in it. It just comes across like many are aware or complain of the risk but at the same time wont back out to avoid the risk.

Sorry, I dont normally get involved in many conversations here but if you are complaining about the risk of crashing in a mass participation race then you shouldnt be at the race. The possibility of a crash comes with the territory of 50 odd guys moving at high speeds trying to occupy the same space... just this festive season we were sitting around the table with family and discussing that we knew my day was coming as I was yet to come down in a 5 odd years of racing. The best we hope for is road rash and no expensive bike repairs. So when I came down on sunday I knew it was not only due but its part of the risk we take lining up at the start line of race. If you dont want to take the risk then dont enter a race. Part of the risk also involves guys who are not so great at riding in a group or just doing something stupid. Well, thats my view on the risks of racing at least
