  1. Thanks for the replies guys... hopefully it is just coincidence. Next ride out i will take the computer off my bike and see what happens.
  2. I have been using the HRM for a few months now with no problems at all. The spikes in the HRM are at random and have only started since i got the new wireless computer.
  3. Throughout winter i trained purely with my HRM as i felt i didnt need a computer on my bike for training purposes. Now with the races starting up for the summer season I bought a Wireless bike computer as well. However when I tested them out together on my bike over the weekend I found that there seems to be interference with my HRM where at times it was showing 119% etc. My computer had no problems and the data all seemed legitimate. So is there anyway around this? Will using the Polar H7 coded transmitter fix this problem or will i still get interference with the HRM.

Am I one of the few guys looking forward to this race? I havent been sick at all in winter and kept my training intensity right up there throughout

Seems the SMS's are on there way out, I just got mine.. anyone else in EL?
  7. Im in the other boat, im hoping to start making up some places now in the fantasy league... Picked both Contador and Rodriguez On a seperate note, I was thinking last night that it has been a strange year with GC contenders crashing regularly at races... Cant recall this many crashes from GC riders in one year and this Vuelta still has some climbing and descending to come so we may still see more guys sprawled over the road. Any takes on why this is happening if there is a reason?
  8. Hey guys, this is a bit of a silly post but I am lost... I need to replace my BB for my crank, the crank is an Shimano FC-RS500. For the life of me i can not find exact details on which BB is compatible. Will a Shimano 105 BB work? It seems to look the same as the one currently on my bike but im not 100% sure. Thanks alot
  9. Anybody got experience riding the Craft Elite bibs? What is the fit like and the chamois, have read that they are quite small sizing wise and have a tendancy to become see through?
  10. Also entered... should be interesting to see selections when they become visible
  11. Yup i know but I see the Midvaal 100 is now timed by racetec as well so I am hoping I can put in a query and beg and plead for it to count in my favour as well. That is my regular weekend cycle route so it could really help me. Worth a shot anyway
  12. Thanks alot... I havent done any races this year but my fitness levels are up there to be able to do a +- 3 hour ride, my concerns are also with the group i start in. Have 3 races lined up so hopefully that will lift my seeding significantly if i can have some good rides.
  13. Where do you guys check your seeding index? Ive been wondering with regards to seeding for 94.7, do you have to just finish a seeding event, like Rand Water inorder to get a seeding and start in a seeded group? or even if you finish the Rand water 110km could you still end up starting in the unseeded group at almost lunch time?
  14. I was actually wondering this same thing last week. My sat ride two weekends ago a big group came up behind me (+-20 riders) i saw them coming from a way off and kept watching so that i could get out the way them when the came up next me. There pace was easy and i could have easily got onto the back of the group. However as they came past I all but stopped on the side of the road to get out the way and not one rider looked up, greeted me or even acknowledged me so i thought i would sit up and let them go as maybe i would have got a klap if i joined the back. Few kilometers up the road when the gradient starting going uphill i started going past the stragglers and one guy then decided to just sit on my wheel for a while... So i think its all about how receptive the group or cyclists are when you pass each other.
  15. Think otherway round, cruise with bunch for first half and then hang on for dear life from Meyerton back to the finish. This time of the year the wind direction means from Meyerton all the way to the finish is one stiff head wind non stop. I saw some bunches last year even kakking off to keep it moving.
  16. This race depends a whole lot on the wind for the day... relatively simple route BUT if the wind blows like last year its a nightmare.
  17. As far as i know the only one left for this year is Randwater Race for Victory (110km). I stand to be corrected though
  18. Im still fairly new to training with a HR monitor... been using it for about 2 months now. My training schedule has increased significantly over the last 2 months as well. When i started with the HRM i found it really difficult keeping my heart rate under 80% during a ride unless I made a concious effort to keep the pace and intensity down. I am now finding the opposite where I am struggling to get my HR up to above 80% during a ride and when i do get it up it drops off again rather quickly as soon as i settle into a rythm... Is this just that i have gottien that much fitter now that my efforts have to be that much more intense to get my HR up and keep it up or is it that im not recovering properly?
  19. From a technical side, just how snug and tight should bib shorts fit? According to First Ascent sizing chart i should wear a medium however when i tried the medium on over the weekend i found it really tight but was not sure if it was just because i have been riding with shorts that are a size too big up to this point. I ended up going with the large as they were tight and comfortable but now I keep thinking if ive got the wrong size.
  20. Has anybody bought their bibs from Chain Reaction cycles, is there any import costs on bringing in clothing like that or just the shipping fees? Im looking for some Assos S5 but all i can find locally at good prices is very big sizes.
  21. I did the route a bit earlier in the evening... got to say as hard as it is I think its a really good ride. However I got to Clifton... and got otherwise distracted and wondered down to the beach for the next hour... :whistling: :whistling: Haha, didnt have the legs to finish the big climb and was starting to get late.
  22. Got to agree with Rouxtjie... Had my cycleops for a few weeks now and havent looked back, I didnt have the extra cash to get the R10k deal so got the JetFluid Pro and it works great, the interface with the virtual training is awesome and I find an hour seesion on the trainer watching google maps and the route profile is really alot of fun and passes time by quickly.
  23. Cant go wrong with GP4000, I just got a set two weeks ago and am really impressed with them. Good value for money in all regards.
  24. Anybody got some experience with the Michelin Pro 3 race tyres?
