  1. Silverback Nabraska (about R9300.00), also has an air fork (Rock shox tora SL Solo Air 100mm L/O) but other componants also better, such as XT RD, SLX crank etc. See: http://www.silverbacklab.com/int_site/specs/nabraska.jpg Maybe best to try all these and see what feels best? aonyx2010-05-26 04:46:05
  2. I've bought from EasyGIS - great service!
  3. Thanks for the good laugh
  4. Being a fat, middle aged, bearded, shabby looking prof I dont look much like an elite cyclist and have been treated rather poorly by most of the big cycling shops in Pta. One exception has been Cycle Fix (not so big though). They just serviced my bike and its running ultra smoothly now - maybe worth a try? aonyx2010-05-24 12:38:23
  5. I live in Hatfield. If I want good prices I go to Pretoria North, if I want good service I go way out east.
  6. Goodness- would have had no chance a split second either way! Bet he needed to clean his saddle after that!
  7. "fauna as well as the animals" What is fuana then Does anyone know of any data on environmental impact of mountain biking - anywhere? I suspect, having been to rietvlei, a few times that a number of things impact on the environment more than mountain bikers would?
  8. Could one not be put into a bike's tube - or seat post? Some small enough to put on bats, birds etc? forum_images/quote_icon.gif
  9. You can use the tracking devices we put on wildlife - some are now small enough to put in the bike so they can't be seen by the crooks. There are numerous makes but the one I use mostly comes from the New Zealand company SirTrack. They are happy to make custom designs for you, and are very reliable. You can google them. aonyx2010-05-03 05:30:39
  10. If its researve management transgressing their own rules they may not be bothered to do anything - I will sent the original post to someone at thier headoffice I know.
  11. I should have just bought myself a R700 steel raleigh from Game - seems I would be just as fast/slow .
  12. One for R4000: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=80476 You need some extra cash for other goodies and maybe minor repares? I went this route and needed an extra R1000 to get it working perfectly - although it looked fine when I bought it.
  13. If "it appears that this was the third incident in this area on consecutive Saturdays..." why is it allowed to carry on? No need to answer!
  14. Got a name?
  15. In my dreams - can do whatever I want but I will never get to this - amazing control! The end part I am good at
  16. I went for 2nd hand and although I needed to replace cassette, chain and middle ring right away I now have a good mid range bike at low end price. Also I am so hooked now if I had bought the new low end bike I would be having sleepless nights wanting something better already! Futhermore fixing and maintaining a bike is almost as therapeutic as riding one (for me at least) so have not mined the time I have had to spend on it to get it going well! I do suggest having someone in the know have a look at it to reduce extra costs needed after purchase.
  17. SANParks has nothing to do with Gorenkloof NR - had u got this right u may have had me worried
  18. Reminds me of the slightly different problem I have with Avalanche. Have a kids Avalanche MAX - R1700 new so not totally cheap stuff. The chain guard broke off and I have approached 3 dealers who cant help get me a new one. One called the importers who said they cant help. I have emailed them (from their web site) 2X with no reply. No telephone numbers available. Terrible after sales service! Will buy from CRC or elsewhere from abroad now.
  19. Someone should give him a MTB and set him loose somewhere nice - he would change his mind fast. Problem is I am not sure anyone would do that now he has shown how silly (I can think of some other descriptive words here!) he is!
  20. Are you sure? Normally you will have the Mountain King (2.4) up front and the Race King (2.2) at the rear. Why will you go with the gripiest tyre at the back? Am a newbie so new at this but surely u want grip where the power is - in the rear wheels? This is how it is done with cars? Would like to hear the reason for the gripiest tyre in front? Perhaps its to keep the line when in rough situations?
  21. Congrats - always enjoy as they grow up fast. Just bought mine his first aluminium MTB at 6 and done our first proper MTB track ride together and he is bugging me for the next one! Lots to look forward too.
  22. Just seen SRAM bringing out a 9 speed version of the 10 speed XX cassette - for those who can afford it!
