  1. For what it's worth - I only drive in reverse when I have my bike on the back and it's raining, since that way the water is hitting the bike from before-the-after - and it doesn't get any wetter than what it was before it was dry. Works like a charm. So all you clever people with your mumbo-jumbo newfangled science can go take a long walk off a short pier - coz science only works in some places. Like, doh. That is all.
  2. Good to hear - do you (need to) keep them charged constantly?
  3. Uhm - no - I reckon most Hubbers know by now that it's a knock off of a knock off of a knock off... But at R500.00(?) - I was willing to take my chances... Which is why I'm not ranting - I'm enquiring about options.
  4. Thanks Tiny! Will drop him a pm. Was pretty much an impulse buy - so did zip research before or after... Never even crossed my mind to check what battery it had - mind boggles at having to keep something charged regardless of whether or not it gets used... Wait - cheap cheap is what I keep hearing in the background of my mind.... But then thinking about it a bit more - so is it possible for the battery to charge sufficiently to "light-up"the green button on the back of the lamp, but not enough for the lamp to actually light-up?
  5. Ah... Guess that could be it? Didn't realise the battery would need to be kept charged? Battery seems to be working though - when I connect the charger to the battery, without the charger plug being plugged into the mains - its little light that is usually red, turns green - which suggests its getting juice from the battery, no?
  6. Yip... They were super-specials...
  7. Hello Hubbers.... Bought a torch on super-special a few months back... At the price, the advice was that even if it only lasts a year, it is worth it... Now a serious of progressively more lingering njuries have been keeping me off the bike for far too long... But the things are slowly looking on the up.The point being, that as ashamed as I am to admit it, the torch has yet to be tested on a bike in anger - and has been relegated to use around the braai area, to blind some mates... So... Planned to use it a few mornings back, for the 1st time on the bike - charged the battery, and when the light on the charger went from red to green - I unplugged the charger, plugged in the lamp, hit the (now glowing-green) switch on back......, and zip. Three times of light-giving life, and now nothing. Is that it - or can these be repaired? Any thoughts? Oh - will pop up a pic in a bit...
  8. +1
  9. DV - this completely slipped my mind.... Still have a package for you - please PM me your address details, will get courier costs and see if I can make a plan to get it your way...

    Brooks saddle?
  11. So sad when one hears about stories like this... But huge +1 on wearing a bracelet or some kind of ID... never ride without mine....
  12. That Salvo's a beaut.... just needs a Brooks! Does the Parow man do the whole thing (frame/fork) to order? Anyone have contact details? Oh - nevermind: Salvo
  13. Qe? Anyhoos - the lucky bugger/Hubber was Mintsauce - here be his awhsum freads: My link and here: My link
  14. Have an option to attend a conference in Vancouver mid-July next year... Or rather - I've been invited, so must simply accept... I'm thinking it should be a no-brainer? Finish up with work, mosey on down, rent a bike and die happy? Figure I will start something here, planning the trip etc. I remember an extensive thread a few years back of a lucky Hubber/bugger that hit the trails on his XC Santa Cruz(?) - details are fuzzy, will do the search etc. in due course - but any other Hubbers who have been recently?
  15. Cool story... will watch with interest!
  16. +1 to all of the above...
  17. Just ordered mine...
  18. What a beaut! What fork be that?
  19. Thanks! Not so much a commuter as something to thrash around with a massive smile on my face, to keep me honest! It dos however appear as if I somewhat underestimated how many Hubbers still ride old frames...
  20. Seems to be a few Hubbers that are still hitting the trails on their old, trusty steeds... Figured we could maybe pop up a few pics of transformations...? 1994 DBR Axis TT And now...
  21. If that happens (and it has) - the Hubber involved is usually very quick to click on that little Report button, and have the Mods/Admin sort it out. The system might have a few holes - but it's easy to fix/monitor... Oh - and unwarranted negative/positive ratings, in an effort to change ratings, will be punished.
