  6. Thought I'd do this post to show my attempt at respraying a GT frame I bought for a Single speed project, i'm busy slowly building up Here are the pictures of the frame I started with, was a old GT avalanche 0.5, I got here on thehub, I unfortunately forgot to take pictures once it was stripped to the raw aluminium. to strip the frame I used plascon "Remove ALL" took 2 applications and scrubbed all the paint and clear coat off using a nail brush and hose pipe. Then I gave it a light sanding with 400 grip sand paper, before spraying the primer. Paints used were 2k auto paints with hardener and thinners, through a LPHV spray gun (0.8mm nozzle). I left at least 24 hours between each layer/ color paint used. Once primer and base color (green) was on, I got all the text and images cut in vinyl at the local sign makers. once the stickers were all on and everything was taped up that I didn't want painted, I sprayed the whole frame black and let it dry. once dry pulled all the stickers off. Total cost was around R500 about R100 for remove ALL, about R250 for paints, R70 for vinyl, and R50 for sand paper, thinners etc. Things I would do different next time. 1. I would paint the base color first (black in this case) and then the text on (green), things that would need changing to do this, is getting the vinyl made in sand blast. (basically the letters are removed and the remaining sticker used to paint) 2. Remember to take pictures of the raw aluminium frame
  7. postage would be R25 for standard registered mail or R75 for a speed services counter to counter bag, orders over R500 get free shipping. Then about the green, I'm trying to negotiate with the manufacturer, Green isn't a anodizing color they keep, so would have to specially get it in for me, and for them to justify mixing a bath of anodizing I'd have to order something like 1000 headset caps in Green so could still take a while to get the color green in, but when I do, I'd like to bring in seat clamps, headsets, headset spacers etc in green as well.
  8. unfortunately I don't have any bolts, the wight of the bolts on the shipping fee to get them here would almost double the price from R25 to around R50 because they weigh more then the caps themselves. also the bolts that the manufacturer sends are plain silver not anodized, I've been trying to source a manufacturer that can do anodized bolts for me but its turning out to be quite difficult to find them reasonably priced

  11. I actually have fond them in Post Mount, and made with a better carbon from another supplier for about the same price. the also do 29" forks, so if anyone is looking for a rigid 29" they'll be R1500 each and the 26" still R1150
  12. you can do it off my site www.radcycles.co.za or you can send me a PM
  13. Oh ok now I understand

  15. Excuse my ignorance but what does 1FG stand for? lol
  16. Hey Guys I'm busy building my own little SS project, and am thinking of bringing in a carbon 26 rigid fork from China, If I bring in 3 more forks it will make the price for each fork quite a bit cheaper R1150 each. carbon used is T600 and weight is 500g +- 20g and straight 1-1/8 steer so if anyone is interested in getting a fork with me send me a PM
  17. its a problem with the older sensors, contact them, they'll swap it out for you with the new model which is sweat proof

  24. oh and for the tire, just stick a nice thick patch on from the inside, hopefully the cut isn't too long that it pushes a bit of the patch through
  25. or you can close a shifting spanner on the dent ad gently bend it back, did the exact same thing to my rim 2 weeks back, my tire pressure was way too low and hit a rock at speed hope I'm not giving bad advice here (JB or other?)
