  1. I see results are up on spectrum sport for those interested http://www.spectrumsport.co.za/Portals/17/ResultDoc/Magalies_Monster_MTB_20130525.pdf I see the last recorded time for the 75km was 8 hours plus, respect to those guys and girls, and well done to the other 407 finishers was a very tough day at the office today, my palms are still feeling a little tender, and the legs are definitely feeling it now.
  2. the Hubber dirt-rider was out there today with his rigid ss. seriously dude if you read this, I take my hat off to you for finishing today
  3. to be totally honest I'd rather talk to your doctor then take advice from here on hub (unless advice is given from a doctor) there is nothing worse then some of the but pietie said or recommended cr@p that doctors have to deal with, because of advice given from someone who doesn't know the first thing about what they talking about
  4. I'd go get it checked if I were you, one always tends to push it a little bit in races, last thing you want is a broken something because of a faulty brake.
  5. apparently sleeveless is becoming a no go from CSA, they said something about it last weekend at babba's, something about it being in the pipeline soon to be implemented.
  6. you sure its not the HR monitor? although it would still be a good idea to have it checked if your worried
  7. I see the route is now 5km longer then it was the previous 2 years http://www.magaliesmonster.co.za/DisplayLink.aspx?group=Route%20Information&name=N/A hopefully the "New" track isn't to hectic for those of us with hard tails
  8. sorry im bring this thread back up, but I've got a quick question with the remove all did you guys wrap the frams / components in a plastic bag so the stuff didnt dry or did you leave it standing as is with the stripper on?
  9. I can believe this true. RIP Burry A very sad day for cycling in south africa
  10. voted again, hope you manage to win
  11. i must agree with you, that was flipping cool similar to the new thing on discovery called chain reaction if i remember correctly
  12. did it get there in one piece? lol
  13. really cool concept, but think it could be a bit of a hard bumpy ride on a hardtail. looking at the video the tires seem to not compress at all?
  14. out of interest can you guys got hold of novatec spares as well?
  15. I'm must have miss read or missinterperated interpereted, I guess they must have been talking about cassette compatibility and not free wheel
  16. mike, here is a link to the novatec hubs I've just bought http://www.ebay.com/itm/Novatec-Mountain-Bike-Hubs-For-Shimano-32-Black-/270975225778?pt=Road_Bikes&hash=item3f1761cfb2 search "novatec shimano hub" from e-bay home page the same guys normally auction off a set every 3 or 4 days. (got a set for $65 before postage) I just really hope Johan doesn't tell me that I've bought a bunch of poo hubs if he clicks on the link I liked that bearings are standard and you can replace the freehub with a shimano when the time comes, and there a few places online that sell spares
  17. this should give you a rough estimate http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/SearchResults.aspx?Search=SRAM+XX my guess you'd be looking at about R2000-2500 for casset and R300 for chain. how long they last I cant really say, have never had the luxuary of using XX
  18. Thanks Minion and Johan that works much better then the other one, definitely going to be added to my bicycle stuff folder on the PC
  19. I'm guessing I can contact you via your website's "contact us" link if I need to get hold of you and order? or if now how do I go about ordering from you?
  20. thank you for all the help Johan, I really appreciate it. do you by some chance sell individual black spokes or sets? Just in case I cant find any in Pretoria?
  21. That would be cool, I'm guessing you improved the macro's? I see they dont work so nicely with the microsoft office 2007 I've got
  22. Have any of you guys tried Spocalc? I got it off the Sheldonbrown website, Looks pretty good, had to put my own info into the calculator as the didn't have novatec hubs and the DT rims I have in their mini-database seems I dont have permission to load .xls files, but here is the link http://sheldonbrown....ard/spocalc.htm and just to confim that I understand JB correctly, If the calculator says I need 266.4mm spokes I should buy 264-265mm spokes because of the stretching? as I'm going to try go spoke hunting in town tomorrow.
  23. Thanks I'll give it a shot and see what values it spits out for me thanks have actually tried that one and quite a few others , wasn't quite sure if I needed to compensate for those values when buying spokes
  24. Thank you Johan. A nice precise answer as always, explaining everything nicely.
