  1. When I watch Danny MacAskill videos, he falls ALL the time.
  2. This thread likes me feel like I'm living in a parallel universe where my bikes run nearly free
  3. Thanks, and I guess compressionless housing is crucial too. Have not been able to find any of that locally.
  4. I'm quite keen to join this Pyga train. Saw a oneten frame for sale a while back but the seller hasn't responded, anybody have contact details? https://bikehub.co.za/classifieds/item/dual-suspension-mountain-bike-frames/456824/pyga-110-frame
  5. I've also been tempted by these. What's the maintenance like? I read that they are not to be bled at all....
  6. There have been a few posts here with some good itineraries, but from my side, G-spot is great and can connect most of the trails around there. Eden was quite rough after lots of treefelling last time I went and not as enjoyable. Coetzenberg also connects. You can link up all those trails on that side of the mountain for a pretty good challenge, then there's Jonkershoek too.
  7. It's an interesting topic. I tested positive for Covid a few months back with no symptons - didn't even know I had it, was only testing due to a work requirement. I took it easy for the required 10 days, then started exercising again, quite casually. But just over 2 weeks after the diagnosis, I went for a mountain bike ride that ended up being more demanding than I was expecting. I felt fine and finished the ride, but the next day I had some minor heart pains. These continued for another few weeks during exercise and I was advised by a doctor to monitor my heart rate - I could exercise but needed to keep my heart rate low and avoid anything above zone 2. 3 months later the pains are mostly gone but I haven't been to see a specialist and so I don't know if I did some kind of permanent damage in my rash return to exercise or not. I'm definitely not back at 100% performance yet. From the reading I've done and anecdotal experience, I'd recommend returning to exercise very very slowly, even after an asymptomatic result. There's really no point risking permanent damage if you're not a pro.
  8. It really depends on the weather as well.
  9. Agreed, nothing worse than people having strong opinions about things that are different to mine
  10. Ah yes, my other favourite, people who rev their 'fancy' engines in suburban neighbourhoods. It's certainly premium 'the best thing about my life is showing other people how much money I have' territory, and that's a territory I prefer to stay away from.
  11. I have lots of fun with my quiet hubs, thanks, and it makes no difference to anybody else's quality of life either. But I'm well aware I live in a country where the concept of 'other people' is as abstract as the concept of 'legal justice'; so I just try stay happy being in the minority.
  12. I think you may have misunderstood my post. I went, was told I need to register online, and returned home. Attempted to do it, the links are broken - 404 etc. On the school website, the only info available said to go to security and fill in a covid form in person. Which, with the reduction to level 1, I went to do, there were no forms, and I was allowed through at the gate. There was no 'sneaking'. There was 100% upfront honesty and trying to follow the poorly implemented school rules.
  13. Yes, please make sure nobody is allowed to have fun there
  14. I did it on my gravel bike, but I do stuff on my gravel bike that I probably shouldn't. It's mostly just basic singletrack, although quite a few sections have small jumps.
  15. Website is useless and you won't find the link to register online unless I'm a total idiot. I tried and decided to just ride up and tell them I attempted it. Security let me in. Trails are well-marked. Quite fun. Have not been maintained recently. The road loop is also lekker.
  16. I live near a very popular road for both MTB and road cycling, and have been woken up early in the mornings by swarms of riders with obnoxiously loud hubs. To get over the noise of the hubs, they need to shout at the top of their lungs at each other, and you end up with something around the decibel level of a malfunctioning diesel truck. It reminds me of car guys who modify their exhausts for maximum noise, because what you personally like hearing is more important than anybody else's peace of mind. I'll never understand those people.
