  1. if its deep vein thrombosis you are concerned about on long distance flights then purchase a specific pair from a hospital pharmacy that is used for patients suffering from that condition. They take into account leg length, ankle and calf circumference. Sports compression socks are not really as effective for deep vein thrombosis.
  2. Send Edge_Design a pm. He orders regularly from CRC. Its cheaper if you pool your orders.

    Now I Am UPSET!

The nerve of these guys trying to dethrone you and in such a manner. Atleast they should have had the courtesy to openly challenge you and not sneaking around that time of the morming.
  4. +1. I think you should use the excuse to get a new frame. Its so simple. It could break at an given time and cause you serious bodily harm. Well at least thats what you tell the missus.

    Snakes

Just affirming what most hubbers have said here. Dont suck on the wound , doesnt work. Compression bandage helps applying it from as high up on the limb and working toward the wound, crepe bandage works well. Carrying antivenom is a no no as its expensive, is snake specific. Only certain hospitals keep it so check which one in your area if youre concerned about it. Otherwise hospitals do supportive managemant. Puffies are bad news as the venom damages the tissue at the site and you get bad septiceamia of limb leading to gangarene and then possible amputation of limb if left untreated. Cobras etc have neurotoxic venom attacking your central nervous system so your body is paralysed , you drop you stop breathing you die. If your buddy knows Cpr, good.Hopsital will put you on a ventilator until you can breathe on your own if you make it to them. Best chance you have of survival is find out who is the helicopter rescue service in your area. In the Western Cape, Free State, Natal ( Durban, Richards Bay) Nelspruit and Polokwane its the Red Cross Air Mercy Service in conjuction with the Dpt of Health. Gauteng has Netcare. Discovery has a heli in Cpt with ER24. Keep a cellphone, medical aid, drivers licence with you always. Private hospitals dont like med aid cards without form of id with you. 107 is the number you wanna call if you dont have the above organisations. Try and get a proper bearing on your position or gps co-ordinates. It makes it easier for heli to find you. Send someone if possible for help. People do survive snake bites its not all doom n gloom.

    Bike Wash

like my car I prefer to wash my bike myself. Usually I just use car wash or some diluted Kleen Green for the grimy stuff. Works well for me.
  12. As far as I can recall if your hemoglobin level for a male is below 12 then they will not accept you as a donor.
  13. As much as we want to help others sometimes we are not able to. Your red blood cells carry the oxygen to your cells in your muscles and organs allowing you to enjoy our sport. Fixing the problem by constantly taking iron supplements to counter the anemia is not a good long term solution. Have you had a look at your diet to supplement your iron intake if you want to continue donating. Try not donating for the specified time prescribed by your doctor or blood bank without taking supplemental iron and then follow a balanced diet. After a few months have your hemoglobin checked and if its still low then there might be a problem elsewhere. Discuss with your doctor then about having a gastroscopy ( thats the pipe with a camera they stick down your throat to check for bleeding in your gut and then theres another thinga-ma-jig they shove somewhere else as well). Might not be the blood donations causing the problem.

  19. I find this works. You can search the forums here for more options. Alternatively pop into a well known national cycle retailer for a computerised one with a printout of options for around R250 http://m.competitivecyclist.com/fit-calculator/ http://m.competitivecyclist.com/fit-calculator/
  20. This might not be much but I jumped from Z to Q. Thanks Burger.
  21. Bicycling did a test on the CAAD 10 awhile back. Very good reviews and better than most entry carbon frames. Have you had a look at full bikes from Cube at Complete Cyclist for something a bit different. Dont know what your budget is like. Nothing wrong with rhe Cannondale
