  1. Im going with knots as its set up that way on my app. Anything below 10 knots for me is acceptable.
  2. Accuweather says Sunday is 33/19 and SE 6 knots (11kph for mavrick). Holding thumbs it stays that way.
  3. Update from Accuweather is 32 deg and SE 10 knots.
  4. Sorry to hear about your friends fall. As far as not getting hold of help for him it's unfortunate that getting hold of someone is always a pain. If you dial an ambulance or police number it always goes via cell providers call centre and then only get passed on to emergency service and this always takes awhile. If your friend is on a medical aid the best is then to call a private ambulance service like ER24 or Netcare. If you are in a fairly inaccessible area you might need helicopter evacuation and then it's best to contact the Red Cross Air Mercy Service (0861267267) who deals with rescues on the mountain alternatively you should contact Metro EMS & Rescue on 10177. These two organizations work together as part of the Wilderness Search and Rescue group that deals with incidents on the mountain. Hope your friend gets better soon.
  5. Our goverment department recieved a shipment of CS gear last week and we were informed that company had changed hands. All I can see happening now is that the CS products will still be available in SW from now on. It would be foolish to end the brand as lots of people are brand loyal. I have bought some CS cycling jerseys lately and it seems as if the waist and arm banding wears out quickly and your jersey sags alot. Lets hope this takeover injects some new ideas and quality into FA and CS brands. The prices always seem to be increasing but quality not.
  6. What a legend. Watched him and Alan tear up the tarmac on Rapport tour on television. RIP
  7. Just remember guys that the No Parking rule on event days around stadium may be enforced by Metro Police. Can anyone confirm this maybe.
  8. Parking at VNA in the Breakwater undercover section is reasonably priced. Went to watch soccer at stadium past weekend for almost 4 hrs and only cost R15. There is an open air section next to marque at Breakwater for only R10 irrespective of time as far as I know.
  9. A South African cycling hero. May he recover soon and grant his family strength in this difficult time.
  10. Sorry to hear of your ordeal. Glad to hear you are ok though and you have your bike still. Im curious though, how did you know they "were full of tik"?
  11. I actually googled that Rossetti. The Diablesse is so sexy. They claim 890 g on the frame. The Tifossi seems like a no holds barred racing steed. Worth checking out, http://www.rossettibike.com/bikes/road/diablesse.html http://www.rossettibike.com/bikes/road/tifosi.html.
  12. Complete Cyclist HB stocks the Kask. Not sure if Jhb CC stocks them. Really nice helmets with not a bulky profile. The Giro Aeon is better than the Prolight. Im loving my Spez Prevail at sub 200g.
  13. I hope they don't cut out Chappies. Havent really seen much construction on Chappies that should impede race. Its all confined to the side. I see in the news they arrested some of the protesters on Chappies.
  14. Whereabouts are you. Solomons in Gauteng. CWC in Cape Town have a good range. They have free postage anywhere in SA at the moment. I would go with the Assos. Very expensive but worth it I have been told.
  15. Post what you decided or your findings.
  16. I would be very weary if ordering clothing via mail order. As I recall European sizes are one size smaller than ours. I normally wear a medium in First Ascent, Capestorm, etc. wgen trying on EU brands I'm a large. Try fitting on a brand like Craft, Assos or Nalini and take it from there. Compare then to there size charts. It should be similiar to Campag. Im a 32 as well. Remember you pay import duties on clothing, I think 40%, correct me hubbers if I'm mistaken. Hope you come right.
  17. As far as I know he was a worker from the area. He is ok, no apparent broken bones just alot of abrasions. Seems like he ended up off the road after being knocked down.
  18. Cyclist was knocked down on Bottelarey rd near Bottelarey winery. Taken to Tygerberg hospital in stable condition. From reports he was a commuter knocked from behind by bakkie. Whether commuting or training be careful out there please.
  19. Congratulations. Enjoy the maiden outing. Bet you won't be able to sleep tonight. Better pay attention to the better half tonight or you gonna hear it when you get back from riding.
  20. I would go for the Cannondale. Maybe look at getting a 56cm instead of 58cm. I'm sure you could get away with it. Take your old bike measurements with you to see if it's possible. I must say the Giants are good bang for buck though. Nothing wrong with the 105 on the Dale.
  21. How about left turns. Typical intersection is the entry and exit to Waterfront at Buitengracht. There are three lanes that turn left onto highway. Some cars just go straight over there especially the meterd taxis. I always stick to the furthermost right lanes because I am turning left to go pass CTICC parking area. You must make sure you indicate to cars your intention when crossing there. I prefer it when the light is actually red so you can move to the front and drivers can see you before the light changes green. It's all about defensive riding and driving. You have to think for the other guy and not expect they will do the sensible thing.
  22. On a Cape Town radio station this morning a dj was complaining about cyclists that ride two or three abreast, and large groups that take over the roads. Him and his radio team were complaining as well when most people do ask the cyclists to move over politely they get zapped with a finger or shouted at. Other complaints as well was certain cyclists have no regard for the rules of the road. Although he understood that there is an increase in cyclists on the road due to Argus training this kind o behaviour us unacceptable. He especially pointed out Boyes drive as an example. He did however point out that he was not generalising and has all the years been an avid supporter of cyclists but that was dwindling now and the response from some listeners was that a few cause all of us to be painted wih the brush. i know this problem has been discussed to death here but it seems its not just us that are seeing the problem. What do the hubbers think?
