  1. Best for you is to head up Belgravia towards Kromboom. Ride on roads with frequent traffic. Avoid the quiet industrial areas. Try and train in groups. Theres lots of guys leaving from Woolies and Tasreeqas on Kromboom on weekends.
  2. I have mailed him mentioning the 3 incidents and a request to inform PPA to post a general email to all members.
  3. That is possibly the same incident a few posts back.
  4. I think its a case of general bike theft on the increase. By mention of incidents mtb guys have been targeted more.
  5. 3rd incident now in that area. Guys riding in that area need to change their route and move in groups. It has ben happening early morning or late afternoon before sunset. If you are alone you're a soft target.
  6. Anything better than last weekend. Someone coined it the 'One Donner' on Strava.
  7. Is it possible to upload a Garmin file then to Strava?
  8. I really like the Red 500 for the colour and size. I'm not worried about live tracking and the size of 510 and 800 is a bit off putting. Will have to decide. Thanks for input Rouxtjie and Tankman.
  9. Yes but more likely Garmin will replace a 510 as its a new unit.
  10. Neh, in that case I'm gonna go with a 510. I have a red K-Edge mount as well.
  11. So they will not exchange a Red unit but can they fix it under warranty? Surely nit every warranty claim is a replacement. I was eyeing a Red bundle as I dont like the blue, alternatively it would have to be black.
  12. 1 tube, 2 bombs + adapter, tyre levers, patch stickers, medical aid card, atm card, R50. I don't carry a saddlebag, it goes into a pockpack.
  13. 4 mechanical breakdowns, luckily we had a backup vehichle. 10 DC members crossed the line, 1 DNS and 1 DNF. All in all a good hard day of training. Time is not important but the teamwork was. Mission accomplished.
  14. PO for small parcels that can fit in their Speedservices bag for overnight R70 roughly . Bigger parcels by normal post takes a few days but they want it boxed and wrapped in brown paper if box is a different colour, normally under R40.
  15. I tried creatine years ago to help with bulking up when I was'nt cycling. Makes you pee like every hour and you have to drink atleast 2-3 ltrs of water so you don't dehydrate. I would'nt advocate it's use while cycling as you could easily dehydrate. How often have you heard of bodybuilders that have ended up with kidney failure due to long term use of creatine. I would give it a big miss IMO.
  16. From our club newsletter it's been reported that another cyclist was hijacked by 5 guys in Induland Crescent, Lansdowne as he was returning from training yesterday afternoon. Thats close to where you were jacked Meezo. Your attack doesnt seem that random now. Be safe guys.
  17. Continental Ultra Race at 220g if you on a budget, R300. http://www.evobikes.co.za/tyres/road-tyres/continental-ultra-race-foldable-700x23c.html The more expensive ones are GP4000s or Vittoria Evo Open Corsa at 205-210 g each. They sell for R450-500 on a good day. I have GP4000s for my advanced funrides. http://www.cwcycles.co.za/catalog/wheels/tyres-road
  18. Cyclist is reported to have been a commuter. Seems he is still in a serious condition in hospital. Speedy recovery.
  19. Burger was awesome last year. Hoping to improve my time this year. Yes the DC training would actually help towards a good Burger. My first DC as well, just need to recover. Luckily I only have two work days that week following DC.
  20. Scott CR1 if you have to go carbon. Depends on what kind of rider you are and your budget.
