  1. Was it carbon? As in: Steel is real/ Carbon gives you a hard-on
  2. You worried someone will come after you and try to take you down for slander? LMAO
  3. I'm sure pork and poultry (ostrich =? poultry) are the worst when it comes to percentage of feed coming from grains as anything else isn't financially feasible. Heck, even farmed fish are fed grain or soy cr@p (how unnatural is that!). http://en.wikipedia....rcial_fish_feed And the worst part is that one can't be sure about salmon either due a lot of it being farmed nowadays, unless you pulled it out of the ocean yourself like tombeej See the following link to see how great some people think soybean is for fish due to its relatively high protein content: http://grist.org/foo...-go-vegetarian/ Don't know much about sheep, but if they're grass-fed (and that leads to a favourable O3:06 ratio), that's great news: Some variety from grass-fed beef would be good.
  4. Genius! Except the cops will be heavy-handed with anyone who has an obscured number plate
  5. They finally removed the stupid code requirement. In for one pair of mamba green shades
  6. Read up on carbon assembly paste for my bike a while back and now again. Will ask my LBS to get a price. The Tacx is the one to go with as it has tiny plastic beads (not abrasive - didn't find data sheet but marketing material says the formula "minimises scratches" which backs up the plastic beads). The Finish Line product has abrasive (states as much in data sheet) (http://www.google.co.za/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=2&cad=rja&ved=0CDsQFjAB&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.finishlineusa.com%2Fdownloads%2Fproduct-information-sheets%2FFiber_Grip_Info_Sheet.pdf&ei=VgfUUon3McqthQep6oF4&usg=AFQjCNFVp4OI-SkyWK46NXy1FckMMgj9aA&bvm=bv.59026428,d.ZG4
  7. The welding on the frame looks solid
  8. http://www.wantitall.co.za/Motorex-Carbon-Grease-100G-Can-Can-W-Brush__B003H34AWQ R853 for 100gr LMAO Only other one I found locally was 3 sachets that come for free with a Tacx torq wrench at buycycle.co.za http://www.buycycle.co.za/workshop-and-tools/tools/wrenches-and-spanners/tacx-en-2-3-4-5-6-7-8-9-10/tacx-torque-wrench.html
  9. Gary Watson's article was loong. Had my doubt about the article because of the sensationalist title The part at the end of nutritional authorities treating nutritional science like a religion reminded me to be mindful of discussing my diet with families and friends. No matter what I say they'll hang onto what they've been told (by BULLSH!TT3RS or outright liars no less).
  10. Guys down in CT have it good. Look what I found: http://www.farmerang...urcing-produce/ Grass-fed (and -finished, I believe) beef and pastured eggs. Reasonably priced, too: R36/dozen eggs (deep colour due to pasturing on legumes, hopefully not due to colouring). R88/kg mince (comes in plastic sausage). Also interesting to follow the farmer's chronicles of running his operation. He tried non-GMO feed for the chickens, but ran into trouble as his operation requires 4 ton per 4 weeks, but the smallest he could process at the mill was 10 ton and the feed is only good for 4 weeks (after which it developed mycotoxins and the chickens died), so there is no way for "ethical" farming without a huge budget that allows the farmer to operate outside of the GMO agriculture environment. With all the fat we're consuming it would be great to reduce all the inflammatory crap many currently unwittingly ingest by sourcing from farmers who grass-finish their beef. How right it is to draw parallels between Stefansson's high fat consumption vs modern day high fat consumption because of how many toxins (increased inflammatory Omega 6 : Omega 3 ratio) are in the fats (due to CAFO, GMO, pollution)? Almost impossible to dodge grains when our meat and fat comes from grain-finished beef. The omega 6 issue also has me thinking I should ditch pork and chicken. Trying to eat healthily is a headache when there are so many variables and conflicting ideas Rather get back on my bicycle and leave the science to the grown-ups.
  11. There were serious setbacks with my bulk VCO order. Will let those that were interested know when I have my replacement container.
  12. Litter bugs are ego-centric, arrogant b@stards who only think as far their nose. Their "inconvenience" of holding onto used sachets will always be more important to them than the inconvenience caused to the public. It'll take consequences such as fines or public naming and shaming to curb this disgusting behaviour.
  13. Only seen them in parking lots and some petrol stations. Agreed. They suck donkey dong.
  14. If Maltitol has carbs we absorb at about 50-75% the rate of normal sugar, what's the rate for xylitol? Are "calorie-free" sweeteners a big fat lie?
  15. Finish Line Cycles helped me out with my DH tube with a presta valve where others in Jhb just shrugged their shoulders. Helpful bunch. I still travel to Pta to have my bicycle serviced at my favourite LBS, but these guys will see me more now that eTolls are making the trip too expensive.
  16. Been looking for a fat bike in SA. Would buy one if the price is right. LMAO - imagine the amount of sealant required per tyre. The rims must be bombproof - drool!
  17. VCO left: Container: +- 25 litre @ R88/l Less DustorBust: 5 litres Spy: 5 litres An3: 5 litres Schweinehund: 5 litres DaveTapson: 4 litres Remaining: 1 litre Anyone missing out: Don't sweat it. You can always get Crede Oils VCO at a health shop.
  18. I finally took delivery of some VCO. PM to make arrangements for collection (Germiston). Recovering costs @R88/l. Please bring own containers. VCO has a density of about 0.925kg/litre.
  19. Chris Kresser seems to think it's inflammatory items in the diet that cause gout rather than the amount of fats and proteins. http://chriskresser.com/will-eating-a-paleo-diet-cause-gout Read in a few places that coffee and lots of fluids should help. Good luck!
  20. Keeping an eye on this thread! I have flat feet and gave up getting orthotic insoles after the prices I saw were astronomical Going for barefoot walks helps with the pain in my ankles.
  21. The infidels at Skynet screwed up my address. 25 litre container Virgin CO should be delivered tomorrow. Anyone who is interested: PM me with amounts. I'm keeping 5 litres for myself, so there is still some to go around.
  22. Too much PUFA = free radicals = inflammation = sickness? Thankfully been following sound advice on this thread wrt staying clear of vegetable oils and enjoying animal fats and butter (thanks, guys ). Pulled the following graph from http://butterbelieve...m/what-is-pufa/ showing the same as yours but categorised by type of fat. http://butterbeliever.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/fat-intake-types.png The graph shows how much PUFA intake increased throughout the last century. Also interesting, is that the quality of the saturated fats has been decreasing, ie. the saturated fats contain more and more Omega 6 and fewer Omega 3 PUFAs due to the feed changing from grass to grain. The following graph shows the PUFA content of various feeds used in meat industry. Remember PUFAs accumulate in mammals' cells, so the ratio of PUFAs consumed by the animals end up being in the meat we eat which accumulate inside our bodies. http://butterbeliever.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/gr_fatty_acid_content.gif http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cooking_oil has a chart of the composition of varoius cooking oils. Is CO just a freak vegetable oil? It has so little PUFA (half of butter). Same wikipedia page also has this nugget: "Yellow (used vegetable oil, eg used deep-frying oil) is used to feed livestock, and to make soap, make-up, clothes, rubber, detergents, and biodiesel fuel.[49]" What crap are unscrupulous farmers feeding the livestock that we end up consuming?
  23. I watched all 3 seasons, but felt empty afterwards. Got stale. Don't think I'll bother with S4 unless it gets really good reviews. Watched Strike Back seasons 1 & 2 recently. Now that is manly entertainment! Start of S2 messed me around a bit, but I found my connection with the character again quickly enough.
  24. Damn all of you lucky enough to be comfy on your saddles! Still looking for one that doesn't kill my bones.
  25. Maybe in a few months time. Moving to CT and possibly moving to a commune in Vredehoek.
