  1. Cheated yesterday. Had a margarita pizza from Cappuccinos Menlyn. Tasty, but the base was thickest I've ever had despite asking the waiter for the thinnest possible base. Heartburn set in two hours later and still suffering 24 hours later. Relearnt a tough lesson about carbs: Stay far away!
  2. Bliksm! Some people... Make sure you help the lady who was harassed by this turd to lay a charge against the perp. Keep in contact with all witnesses. Hope you have CCTV footage with the guy's face and his plates.
  3. http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/d/de/Moka2.jpg/180px-Moka2.jpg http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moka_pot Makes strong coffee, is cheap and easy to use. Unfortunately, the steam extracting the coffee out of the grind might be too hot (especially at sea level). The wikipedia article states that a moka pot only runs up to 1.5 bar vs the 9 bar mandated for espressos by an American Coffee Association, so it might not be espresso, but it makes damn good coffee. http://coffeesnobs.com.au/general-news/27938-moka-pot-vs-espresso-machine-guest-appearance-andy-freeman.html According to that article, 93C is optimal for extracting coffee out of the grind. That means being a cheapie coffee fan who uses a Moka Pot in Jhb is cool as the higher altitude means our water boils at lower temp and we should thus be able to enjoy Moka Pot coffee inland more than at sea level. Fresh coffee grind is the most NB step to making good coffee. @ <R1k budget I don't know what other options you have.
  4. Some of the coffee snobs here will look down on you for not just getting a burr grinder, but I want the rustic charm of an old-school coffee grinder Gf got a coffee mill at the Pta Boera Mark this morning. Hope you have something similar in KZN.
  5. Interesting. Would think you'd need a CAD/CAM programme (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer-aided_manufacturing) and plug in dimensions of yours wheels from manufacturer website. Sending your mate a bmp drawing will most likely land you in the sin bin unless they guy's a whiz with his machine and drawings.
  6. Nancy Drew, check your salt intake. That (sodium and potassium) and H20 need to be increased drastically initially to overcome carb flu. The lack of sugar (and other carbs) causes an adaptation in your body. Good luck. Let us know how it goes.
  7. I remember those halfway group ride stops. Body would be like a fired-up turbo prior and then useless after the 4 minute stop until about a half hour later when I was good to go again.
  8. Which PnP has 95%? WW had 90% for a short while at R31/100gr.
  9. My notifications are messed up and only came back to day to update what I thought was an empty thread about the Astro Anodising option in Sebenza. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/131871-re-anodizing/ http://www.astroholdings.co.za/astro-anodising Shot, guys. Contacted them with pricing request. Will get back as soon as I hear more.
  10. It's a pain how almost all mainstream treats are full of carbs, but there is no reason to be deprived as we can make our own LCHF-friendly treats. Google your craving and prefix it with LCHF and as time goes on you'll find more and more recipes to try. Making your own is rewarding and often tastier. http://myjourneywithlchf.wordpress.com/2012/01/28/low-carb-strawberry-cheesecake/ http://www.pinterest.com/nurseu2befit/keto-lchf-cheesecakes/ Can't be the sour goodness of gooseberries in gelatine over cream cheese!
  11. It depends on the LBS. Thankfully there are some that add value that CRC can't match, eg. give you economical options to get your bike back in working order that you hadn't considered or that will fix your bike when in a pinch (not everyone can re-assemble their bikes like a SEAL 6 member does his fire arm).
  12. Found a cool source at Shimano. Trying to make sense of it now. http://www.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/tech_support/tech_tips.html Specifically: http://www.shimano.com/publish/content/global_cycle/en/us/index/tech_support/tech_tips.download.-Par50rparsys-0011-downloadFile.html/05)%20Disc%20Brake%20Pads.pdf A-type through to G-Type through to others. I'll wait until I get back to my bike before I order.
  13. http://www.xonbikes.com/product_small.php?lang=2&id=7 Looks like they come in all shapes and sizes. Damn. Don't have the bike with me to check the model number. Guessing XT from 2008/9. Can one narrow it down from that?
  14. CWC are clearing out stock and there are some good deals on various XON disc pads. Are the pads made in proprietary shapes so that they are not cross-compatible?
  15. https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/130412-scott-and-pro-bike-very-dissapointing/
  16. They sell BG meters and the strips. Moer expensive. Unfortunately, they don't give away meters (already tried my luck).
  17. Anyone know when the tyre manufacturers will release bigger(wider) tyres for 29ers?
  18. I thought AM was about making your own trails and having fun (not worrying about punctures). So, why the emphasis on light-weight for AM tyres if more weight in most cases affords more protection? I want to upgrade my MKIIs at some point. the 2.4s are stretching the limits of what my bike can fit. Someone please recommend a bombproof option.
  19. Everyone is different, but to "keto-adapt" the consensus is that you need to be low carb, moderate protein and high fat. Then there is the lag when the body adjusts to getting energy from ketones instead of glucose. During this period (easily a few weeks, up to 3 months) you'll need to take things easy during your training rides, especially making sure to stay out of anaerobic zones. Be sure to take in enough salt!
  20. Would be cool if one could calibrate the gauges. Maybe some of the guys with smarts can help with DIY - thinking water level in a clear pipe pushing air into pressure gauge and then one can make a list of water level pressure benchmark corresponding to gauge readings. Maybe a cool idea for LBS to have such a setup so one can feel more confident about the gauge pressure reading. Also useful for road trips, as one can't trust the petrol station gauges.
  21. Looks like the old weather-proof Nokias! How much is the fish?
  22. Topwine, please stop trolling on this thread. I'm sure you mean well and you're frustrated the LCHF crowd can't see the light as you seemingly do, but you're being a tjop about it. Especially when you relish your schadenfreude about how everyone on LCHF will perish prematurely. GTFO. LCHF is a convenient metabolic state for many. Eating less frequently and having sustained energy and concentration levels changed my life for the better. The definition of insanity is trying the same thing over and over expecting a different result each time. Big up to the folks who got sick following the heart-healthy carb dogma and tried LCHF to see if it makes a difference. If going LCHF doesn't work for a few individuals (whether due to genetics or anaerobic activities), then big up to them if they change their diet until it works for them.
  23. I also remember the previous complaint. Why was the previous thread removed? Or maybe the Y2K/no backups crash was a cover - conspiracy nut LMAO Eagery awaiting ASG's response. And, if the previous complaint thread was removed, it would be good for admin to explain why, or risk looking like a shill.
