  1. 🎵Splish splash, I was taking a bath🎵
  2. Have you tried looking on trailforks? https://www.trailforks.com/region/clarens-36415/?activitytype=1&z=10.2&lat=-28.52281&lon=28.43110&content=trails,labels,nst,region,poi,directory,polygon,waypoint
  3. True gravel is a difficult task around these parts, maybe they could do a Durbie dash type MTB event instead
  4. Tempted by the 99er only because it looks more fun than the road race, but that course is pretty uninspired for a gravel race.
  5. And all the best features are also not locked behind a subscription
  6. This is a post I had hope to never make, but I got attacked on the trails today. The incident happened on the lower parts of Hillcrest. Fortunately I got away with only minor defensive wounds on my arms. The perps are always lurking around, luring you into a false sense of security until they decide to pounce. Stay safe out there... Picture of the attacker
  7. Last one for the year, hitting as many of the farms as my legs could muster
  8. Rode past there today, and though WTF to myself looking at that. Nice to see a video of someone doing it!
  9. Seems no one truly understand the rules of the road. Perhaps I don't either, but I've always understood it and read it as cyclists are essentially cars when it comes to right of way etc. So pedestrians wins then cars = cyclists. Ofcourse some cars treat cyclists as neither pedestrians or other vehicles as the 'law of gross tonnage' seems to apply in their minds
  10. Thanks for the suggestions, can we use any of the contour paths? Thinking about starting with Bosluis then, firehut as per the suggestion, then never ending story and using the maze of contours to ride red phoenix. These are all blue trails according to trail forks so I should manage fiine, just a bit afraid of black trails seeing as I've not ridden one before (Drop off, jumps etc I'm still learning).
  11. Hi Looking to ride Jonkershoek Wednesday, a nice long epic ride hopefully. Looking at Trailforks, riding up Iris and taking the contour paths to never ending story and then connecting to Firehut. Is this a do-able/enjoyable ride in terms of trails or do you guys recommend something different?
  12. Make an example of him if you can
  13. It's double what other events cost, while having probably 10x the number of participants to share the costs. Personally it's overpriced for me, and the value proposition is not really there. The best parts of the route you can cycle with a couple of friends and traffic is not really an issue. The gees and medal doesn't quite cover the price
  14. Maybe if they dropped the price to something reasonable, or make an option to drop the goodie bag, IE old stock Pick n Pay want to get rid off.
  15. I'm at the opposite end of this, bought a dual suspension to replace the hard tail and honestly has reinvigorated my love for MTB'ing. My poor road bike is mostly gathering dust
  16. Ever heard of a hyperbole? You clearly have a strong opinion and threw shade at solo riders and putting words in peoples mouths about 'despising' groups yet relying on them, while people only posted here on why they ride alone. Your post just comes across as lecturing and someone who sounds aggrieved.
  17. Same, I'd also rather bleed out than have some oak lecturing me about how I've inconvenienced his ride
  18. If helping others is such a hassle just go on your merry way! Also why does the entire group need to stop? As a solo rider it's the risk I take... In the Cape we also have wilderness rescue, so phone them, it's their job.
  19. I also ride mostly alone, then I can get an extra half year out of my bibs without worrying about showing my @ss crack to those behind me 😅
  20. Have a look at this thread and ask Jaques if he'd add you to the whatsapp groups, there are road and MTB groups
  21. Thanks, figured it was down the road to the right when coming out of the trails instead of left to the restaurant
  22. Nope. Will next time
  23. Anyone else run into what looked like two vagrants on Rooikat/hillcrest yesterday? They looked friendly enough when I rode past them but still a bit concerning with them going against the flow and in quite an isolated spot.
  24. Did you ever find a solution? I'm in a similar position now and also struggling with the 170mm cranks and a more forward seat than what I am used to
