  1. Hope all those that fell in 1A are alright. Started 1A at the very back, pinch point up the Nelson Mandela on ramp and the crash down hospital bend meant I never saw the front of 1A. Tried making it back down the m3 and up Edinburgh drive but just burned matches, got caught by the rest of 1A and some 1B at some point, from there was just trying to hand on. Ended up with a time of 3:07 bit of luck and some concerted effort in training I'll get that sub 3 next year!
  2. How many people do they normally have per group?
  3. Checked Racetec today and got my updated group seeding: 1A lets go!
  4. I was also in C, didn't know the first section is a neutral zone, not that it would have mattered I barely hung on the first 20km's in the bunch But given all the speedbumps and circles for all these races in Durbanville they should probably enforce it. These groups seem to always start strong in the first 40km's then starts to fade the last 60km's from my limited experience.
  5. I got the same response, pre 99er my seeding index was 38, post 99er my seeding index is 32 and I got seeded into 1C. Someone I know also in 1C was seeded 42 pre 99er and 32 post 99er. Both PPA and Racetec show that the 99er is my current seeding index.
  6. I really hope they use the 99er results if you query, because then I could get into 1B or maybe 1A with a stretch.
  7. Just out of interest what is your seeding index?
  8. My index is 35 that I got from the Durbie Dash and I got into 1C, my 99er index is 32, would be great to know if I could go up a group or not based on that...
  9. Here is the 2021 results, last year was apparently wet. http://results.cycletour.co.za/results_by_event.aspx?RID=2021&SID=1&EN=Sun 10%2F10%2F2021 2021 Cape Town Cycle Tour (109km)&SG=1C
  10. 1C seeding, hopefully the weather is good and can get a sub 3 hour on my first try
  11. No the $ guy I was thinking about had a white shirt, think he dropped at some point because after we made it to F I never saw him again, don't get me started on those foodlovers guys and the e-bike. The e-bike actually ruined some of the racing because he kept closing gaps
  12. I was part of G that caught up, the first 40 km's we also averaged about 40km's then at some point a guy from $ helped a handful of G to bridge across and I think a couple of G managed to bridge across shortly after.
  13. In the race seeding they explained it won't be automatic for this year, only next
  14. Only my second race, was lots of fun and fast. On a related note, anyone know who we can email to get this event count for the CTCT seeding?
  15. Are you allowed to start in a different group? For instance say someone is in E but wants to ride with someone in G, can the G go up to E or does E have to go down to G?
  16. I used to ride my road bike with MTB shoes and SPD's, the combo did not work for me at all, my feet got sore even with just moderate intensity. Bought some road shoes and SPD-SL pedals and it made a world of difference for me.
  17. It's not just snakes one should watch out for. Today after 2 years of weekly Bloemendal sessions, this was a first. Coming down Lombards Terra, I hear an animal running out of the bushes behind me, turn around and it a massive deer. It overtakes me and cuts across the trail in-front of me, over Terra flow, into the wineyards. Gave me a proper fright
  18. Like motorbikes cyclist are invisible. I always presume if they are not looking at me or behind me they are going to pull in front of me. Can't count the times I've avoided accidents turning into Mosselbank River Ave from Adderley.
  19. Depends on where you ride and fitness/strength. Flat go 36, hilly 34.
  20. I've done the Adderley to Philadelphia and back solo lots of times. First part of Adderley has lots of mountain bikes on it, second part they become less prevalent but still the odd rider. Once you are on Philadelphia road you'll probably be one of the only bikes on the road. It's also a bit of a dangerous road as there is no shoulder and lots of trucks, most trucks give you plenty of space but the odd one that doesn't can get scary fast.
  21. Based on what I saw today as well, it's safe to say that whether you see them or not they are near
  22. Rode past another one a few turns later, this was darker and looked more menacing with it's tongue out
  23. Not only roads but trails as well. Today had 2 brown shorts moments. Coming down lombards terra at bloemendal, at the bottom of a table top there was a massive green/yellowish snake waiting for me, it didn't seem to notice me until I missed it by about 20 cm and when I went to take a pic it slinked of into a bush. Lap 2, same spot and I spot the back end and tail of a rattle looking creatures scurrying off into the very same bush. 😬
