  1. I should have waited 24h more to book my car transfers
  2. Funny I told everyone the day before to watch for the crosswinds, everyone was like "meh, on the forecast there's like 10kph".... Last year was also not supposed to be windy and meanwhile it got completely crazy with gutters very quickly ! Yeah, looks like I missed out on a nice hard race, but needed to learn a bit about MTB before W2W, I'm so wrecked now I don't even want to do it anymore 🤣
  3. Yeah that was awesome, that is definitely something that makes the end of a horrible day on the bike more pleasant ! the war stories afterwards
  4. as far as I know the mtb boards are the same, I did all the road to durbanville to pick up two stickers. there were fresh MTB boards that looked just like mine, I think it's only the road that uses that new system
  5. So the old racetec board is massive and un-aero, but the new temporary chip has to be put on the seatpost ?
  6. I'd put it forward on my fourk, better for the bike throw 😅
  7. mmmh maybe, haven't thought of that actually, I'll remember it next time it happens that's one of the major downsides of electronic shifting though, the fact that you have no manual override when it dies. On sram you can always find a way to go home when on a 2x because you can swap the batteries between derailleurs, swap the shifters assignments with your phone, but on Di2 it's very annoying, especially since the front derailleur dies first, once you're stuck on the small blade, there's no way around it
  8. You missed the part where the seller never said the charger wasn't included and the buyer never asked either because he (righfully) assumed that when you sell a bike with Di2, the bike comes with the full Di2 group
  9. mmmeh... I removed XTR to put GX AXS on my MTB, then moved it over to my gravel bike and put XTR back to my MTB, and it is an absolute pleasure to ride the XTR too. It really depends how well the thing is setup, both can be great. Just the argument of saying that electronic is **** because you have to charge it is stupid, because you have to charge it every million years (yet okay some people seem to still forget to do so), but once you snap a cable in your mechanical groupset you are even more ****** having to ride on your 11T cog the whole way home, and that has happend to me probably as many times as running out of battery on an electronic groupset (which is maybe a couple of times)
  10. ah that's the one I was looking for, yes, this would be great, but the route would also need some vert, and for that the traverse between hillcrest and the racecourse (and/or odendal) is absolutely amaizing, would be great if it could somehow be on the route
  11. I wouldn't mind paying full entry price for 3 separate events personnaly. We don't have that many events this side, I'd love to have 3 races 20mins away from home in the middle of my racing calendar that only has races between paarl and wellington. I'm sure lots of weekend riders would love to do the gravel + MTB, especially if the gravel has a little bit of challenge with some of the tygerberg MTB network and not just flat gravel roads. Also, going on the gravel bike quite often on the network, I only ever see Mountainbikers there, it could possibly bring more gravel riders into the Tygerberg club
  12. we had that chat before, I can't remember who here was involved with organisation and was working on the feasability. I ride a lot in that area, and to be honest, if you exclude the MTB network, there's isn't much gravel that is interesting to ride (for sure there are nice gravel roads but I wouldn't enter an event to to spes bona and occultdale. If you start including some of the bloemendal traverses, fair cape and that nice part at the end of spes bona then why not, it can become a pretty epic ride, but then it's a bit of a headache to have everyone racing roads, trails and traverses without running into each other
  13. of course it does, it's not an iphone ! That's why I don't even understand why you'd want to keep the charger when selling the bike, unless you broke or lost another charger and use one charger on multiple bikes, but then it's your problem to replace, not the buyers (unless again the buyer is made aware that the charger is missing).
  14. A lot more on the flat and a headwind, that board is the only reason @Sid the Sloth ended up dropping me at Old Hermon
  15. no, just like I wouldn't ask if there is fluid in the brakes, pads in the calipers or tires on the wheels. When I bought my previous bike the seller forgot to ship the charger, when I pointed it out he sent it immediately and apologised. If you plan on not giving the charger with (which I really don't see why you would ???), you should point it out in the ad, same as for the pedals. It's not the buyers to ask for it. Bike is Di2, the charger is a part of the Di2 setup.
  16. Can't see my recent racetec races (Old Hermon/Gravel Monster) anywhere Doesn't help deciding which race to do this weekend 😭
  17. So if he bought and Ebike and the charger didn't come with the bike it would've been ok ?
  18. Late entries at registration (so wed, thu, friday). I just received my number, so I'm assuming they have done the seeding, but when I check on racetec and PPA, seeding is still from DD last year on racetec side and TDC on PPA side (that one being completely ridiculous btw I have an index of 1.something from an average overall performance)
  19. Pretty obvious conclusion to me too... also, the charger isn't just a charger, it's also the cable that allows you to tune your Di2 from your computer, setting up magic buttons, etc... so the comparison with phone chargers is completely irrelevant as for a phone you can use pretty much any other cable/brick these days.
  20. Thanks guys, will decide on friday at registration if I request my entry to be moved from road to MTB (if it's even possible) It's just that last year a top 10 on the road race was so well rewarded in terms of seeding that I kind of counted on it for CTCT
  21. Was that one that I got from the local distributor, when I see the price now compared to the rekon race I feel like crying 😭
  22. Haha I only saw your name on strava after checking the route! Thanks Andy !
  23. it's really a terrible map they could at least give a GPX file or something to have a rough idea... So from what I see it looks like something like d'aria/majic forest, up hillcrest, down the mast, missing link, hoogekraal normal uphill and trail Z descent, connecting somehow with faircape, long flag boring section, then up the mast again, down bloemendaaler towards the finish, is it your read of this map ? if that's what it is, it's pretty cool, means you'll have to gun it on the mast climb to try and not be stuck on the bloemendaaler descent. I'm almost getting excited now....and I entered the road race 🤣
  24. Have you got info about the route ? I can’t guess much from what I see on their website…
