  1. well known issue, never experienced it myself though. You can find brand new second hand cranks here in the classifieds for 3-4, I don’t think it’s that bad of a replacement cost after 4 years (considering I’m spending the same amount in bearings and brake pads after just one race 🤣). Definitely a better option in my mind than trying to run after the useless agents hiding behind warranty ts and cs
  2. What’s wrong with co.za ssl certificates expiring constantly lately ? Been trying to track a parcel on the posts website that has an expired certificate, can’t remember but had a couple other ones in the last two weeks, you guys don’t have auto renew ? My AWS account just notifies me when my certificates renew (automatically)
  3. Should’ve worn a powerband !
  4. What the actual F… 3 stages 3 disasters… they should organise Vuelta in France next year ! Funny enough, this whole new social media Remco thing worked, two videos on his youtube channel and 2 feats on other youtubers channels and I’m happy for the 1st time to see him in a leaders jersey! Maybe the fact that against him there’s Jonas and Primoz helps 🫣
  5. Yes it's on my calendar.... I'll enter when I'm sure I have a bike to ride 🤣
  6. Honestly, after taking them appart I can say they did 0 effort in protecting those bearings, the plates above the seals move even when tightened to torque, the seals don't seem too bad, but once I removed them, the bearing had 0 grease in them, only dirt. I cleaned them with WD40 and stuffed them with WB grease, but no luck, I think all the balls in the bearing are seized, I'll replace them, not that expensive, looks like it's a consumable. Not so sure how old that derailleur is, but it has a lot of mileage, not that many hectic rides like saturday though (lots of mud and riding through river crossings to drown the bearings). Headset is rough but wheel bearings and BB seem to still be good though.
  7. Thanks, I was going to go ask at CWC this week see what they say ! But interested if anyone has experience with silverback
  8. expensive weekend… the jockey wheels aren’t too pricy and seem easy to replace, the fork though… I thought I heard a bad noise when my front wheel went deep into a puddle and stopped studdenly. I actually stopped to feel if something in the headset broke (steerer tube, bearing ?), but it felt solid so carried on... Seems it's the fork that suffered a "hairline fracture"... an OTB would’ve been cheaper… let’s see how good silverback’s warranty is
  9. Hardest race of my life 🤣🤣 my 0 friction setup lasted about 100m, the last 20k was about 100% friction 😜😜 IMG_8791.mov IMG_8793.mov Otherwise yeah it was chaos from the start, a guy OTB’ed right in front of me in a descent, I somehow managed to un-hook my left handlebar drop from his wheel within seconds but here I was already having to chase my way back into the lead group. Then 2nd effort of the day was trying to hang on to the pros up the climb, until they started attacking. After bain’s it was a long ride with Dan that I caught on the descent until about 60k when I couldn’t keep up with him up the thousand rollers this course had. Then 20km of making my way through the hundreds of people from the other routes that were cruising around the potholes like I was doing, except it would cause them to swerve right in front of me on numerous occasions. Managed to make my way to the finish without a single crash 😜 Can't say the same about Dan who entertained me a couple of times with some spectacular stunts ☺️ before he disappeared in the distance
  10. I’ll bring both and warmup on the MTB, get a feel for the nearby roads but highly unlikely that I decide to ride the mtb
  11. My plan is to see how it goes after Bain’s, the route comes back near the parking area just before halfway ? If it’s too bad then just pull out… but seems like quite a trip to go all way just to see 🙄🙄
  12. I think it's actually smaller 🤣 also it's a MTB board, for gravel surely a chip would work just as good as for road but hey, whatever, as long as everyone has to display it the same way (on the bars, flat, in front of the cables)
  13. I removed my garming mount, even more drags. So now I put my race chain freshly waxed for 3/4 watts gain, aero socks/skinsuit/aero road helmet for maybe another 5/6w, to lose it all (and more) to the board 🤣
  14. Yoh I did not remember that board to be so big, I have a sa timing one that’s 1/4 the size of that damn sign. And I was considering investing in a more aero handlebar 🤣🤣
  15. Aero @Sid the Sloth will love it 🤣
  16. We're not exactly flooded with information about this race hey... I see on their site Results will be available on the FinishTime website HERE. so I'm assuming it's not going to be racetec. Guess I'll find out at registration tomorrow, unless someone here goes to registration today in rondebosch EDIT : nevermind, it says racetec at the bottom of the page, so I'd assume you must use a Racetec bike board (from the MTB events, probably not the road chip) @Abby.F Could you maybe bring some clarity please ? ☺️
  17. Guess who waxed his chains last night and got pissed on this morning ? 😅 Squirt on the road bike for the next couple of weeks it is 😮‍💨
  18. First time in a while I hated being on my bike
  19. Ouf I was going to post a salty comment about the local distributor and then moved on to something else, but I see I’m not the only one thinking the way I do about them
  20. Tbh honest they don’t have much of anything, and worst part is you can’t even import from europe. I buy stuff in France when I travel now that you can’t get anything shipped here anymore
  21. Stem slamming, narrow bars, tilted hoods, aero socks, skinsuits, internal routing, picking a more aero helmet, core training to sustain aero position longer just on the aero side of things. You can also maintain your drivetrain properly, using wax, research which chain’s faster… when I see okes running a sram red chain on a 48 chainring using ospw I laugh, their 10T cog is smaller than their pulley wheels and their chain a few watt slower than some other brands 🫣
  22. Meh, maybe there's a watt or a half a watt there, but truth is there's so many other places you can find bigger gains at a fraction of the cost.
  23. every ride lol, your drivetrain better ride smooth. What if you do 100km ? You stop to lube twice during the ride ?
  24. Depends how brave you feel on the day 🤣 (And how windy it is)
