  1. I have one, works fine, I can only do one chain at a time though
  2. The jacket, jersey and gilet are all size M and all fit me perfectly ๐Ÿฅฐ
  3. They are almost too warm for todays condition. I tend to wear them only on reco rides, and even then I end up sweating a bit. But I think I'll love them once it gets cooler ๐Ÿ˜…
  4. I recently pulled the trigger on some Vye stuff, as I only had one long sleeve cycling jacket and needed more : - Thermo range is warm, not a lot of stock left though (not surprising at this price..) : https://vye.co.za/collections/collection-mens/products/mens-thermal-hurricane-jacket https://vye.co.za/collections/collection-mens/products/mens-hurricane-thermo-jacket-black https://vye.co.za/collections/collection-mens/products/mens-hurricane-thermo-jacket-navy - Gilet : https://vye.co.za/collections/collection-mens/products/mens-gilet-v-range-black https://vye.co.za/collections/collection-mens/products/mens-gilet-v-range-olive It's amazing value if you ask me, for the price of one Ciovita waterproof jacket I got 1 gilet, 1 jacket and one jersey, was pretty happy, can't believe they're not sold out yet. I also have these : https://ciovita.co.za/products/mens-vindex-cycling-jacket-gilet-lumo Bit of a fail, I end up not wearing it most days when the rain surprises me, and when I do have it with me when it rains I just don't like so much the feel of the sleeves on my sweaty arms, so end up just riding with the "gilet" part. Also the fact that it's not supposed to be washed in the washing machine makes it a bit of a pain https://ciovita.co.za/products/mens-apex-contego-gilet-2-0-rust I like this one, I would pick that one over the long sleeves one any day. easier when you can chose which layer to keep on and which to take off.
  5. Yeah... everything mentionned is gravel-eable except maybe missing link unless you are really really good. But most of it is quite rocky and if it's fine for a couple of hours, trust me you don't want to be spending 4 hours on these trails... I did that ride on the gravelbike : https://www.strava.com/activities/8284962843 and the last hour I was hating my life and cut the ride short (initially I was going to do the silvermine loop at the end) It was a recon for that ride : that we ended up doing on the mountainbikes https://www.strava.com/activities/8305486233) Lion's head/signal hill, the climb from bokap is gravelable no problems, but think it's getting quite dodgy that side, I got bit by a dog the only time I rode it but now apparently it's more muggins you should be affraid of. Other side, the views are amazing, but I rode it a couple of times on the MTB and it's really rocky and narrow, you don't want to risk losing control there as if you fall on the off-camber section, you'll fall all the way down to greenpoint ๐Ÿคฃ Table Mountain ; probably pretty good on the gravel, but it's quite limited in terms of distance/duration as far as I know, you'll want to extend either to newlands or missing link, and those are a bit more tricky on the gravelbike. I'm loving riding the gravel bike around durbanville though, I've got a few routes in stock if you want (some of them require a Tygerberg MTB club membership tho)
  6. Not the consumers problem, if orgs aren't happy with that they set a cutoff date and/or late entry fee
  7. The original comment was just saying he'd rather enter as late as possible so that he can do it knowing what the forecast is for the day / if there is a chance the event will be cancelled or not. Can't blame him for that
  8. it was cancelled due to rain, we raced the last stage of tour du cap that day and it was pourring from start to finish
  9. No results to be found anywhere ?
  10. I thought real mountainbikers didn't shave

    New garmin edge

I saw the ad, not excited. Most of the new stuff seem to be related to coaching programs and recommendations which usually from garmin isnโ€™t great. I still really hate my 530 but it refuses to die. I actually hate it less now because for some reason some features that never worked before started working now. Go figure. I donโ€™t even mind that I have to charge it every 2nd day as I just plug it in in my garage with my rear light itโ€™s part of the daily habits. The only frustrating thing is that it takes 30 secs to skip all the useless screens after saving an activity and that even turning it off and back on the next day doesnโ€™t shortcut this ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ Even the crash I had with it at tour du cap barely made a scratch on the screenโ€ฆmaybe thatโ€™s what fixed the bluetooth connectivity with Garmin connect ๐Ÿคฃ looks like Iโ€™m stuck with it for another couple of years!
  12. Damn, once you go back too much to the left then it's impossible to write a message after your quote, even on the PC... Anyways, 100% agree with what is said. I think unlikely but if I should pick one from the 3 fantastics, it would probably be VdP on his current form, Van Aert on last years form (he's shown to be able to sprint with the best, roll solo in front of the faster ever tour de france, go over climbs and wait for his leader at the top...). Pog I don't see winning a Paris Roubaix, but I mean, anything I think he can't do he does...
  13. The ones you can buy ๐Ÿคฃ these things are scarce
  14. I buy the wax from takealot (I think this one : https://www.takealot.com/pacifrica-paraffin-wax-pastilles-2000g/PLID90155253) and I think I must be putting about 20/30% paraffin oil not exactly sure. I don't wait for the wax to settle to take the chains out as I often do 2 to 4 chains in a row and I don't have the time to sit in front of the thing to wait till it settles just enough to take each chain out before it's too late, then wait till it's liquid again for the next. It works fine for me
  15. Probably yes. I put a lot less than 50% paraffin oil in my mix, I just dip a spoon in, wait till the wax settles a bit and then rub it off with my thumb to see how it behaves. You want it to be just oily enough that it still sticks to the spoon when you try to rub it off. Excess will still flake off in the first 30km on a fresh chain but most of whatโ€™s inside the links should stay there and do itโ€™s job. i have the feeling (maybe Iโ€™m wrong) that too oily makes it less persistant and possibly more prone to catch road crap in the drivetrain, the point of wax being to have a dry chain that stays clean
  16. Shame... he lost so much time in that bike change, wonder what's wrong with the drivetrain that he didn't even try to put the chain back on... but I mean.. finishing the race with a skew headset wouldn't have been ideal. From that angle VdP's handling looks more impressive there than when he avoided that barrier
  17. I see both teams seem to have contracts with Vittoria, guess it's just pure bad luck for Jumbo as we saw Matthieu ride over the grass numerous times
  18. That's why I used the ? I wasn't quite sure, Philipsen's was just a formality though as he was back in no time
  19. Who needs a front derailleur on a flat course. Jumbo will have to think about their tyres after this f.up, the race could have been very different if they didnโ€™t have 3 punctures between the 2 guys we saw on screen, alpecin in the other hand had none ? That average after 5+ hours of racing on the cobblesโ€ฆ makes our fastest killarneys look like a recovery ride. Also makes you wonder if aero bikes really is a thing ๐Ÿคฃ
  20. Does petersen actually have a team ?

    Squirt Lube

I was doing it in a glass container in a pot full of boiling water. Now my wife bought me a wax heater on takealot she didnโ€™t want me messing in the kitchen ๐Ÿ˜œ๐Ÿ˜œ (they start at R169 on takealot) itโ€™s actually a lot better now iโ€™v got nothing to clean afterwards.

    Squirt Lube

Squirt is wax based, I use it to top up when I'm too lazy or short on time to go through the cleaning and melting of wax route. It just requires a tiny bit more cleaning before the next bath. Don't use "any" lube if you went through the trouble of degreasing your chain before applying wax, you don't want grease back in there
  23. Honestly I don't understand, if I was law enforcement I wouldn't miss out on the opportunity to be paid to go hike in civilian clothes and catch those ******* by surprise, double dose of satisfaction... But I guess they'd rather sit all day in their car eating donuts next to their speed traps (yeah yeah I know different cops..bla bla..)
  24. Bit pricey but I had a couple fails trying to adapt other rings to fit on this crank. Still a bit of a mission to find the right bolts too, Iโ€™ve tried about every chainring bolts available in SA ๐Ÿ˜…
