haha two years ago I had a idiot almost rolling me over, then yell at me about that sign (that he himself couldn't see as it face facing towards the cycle path I was on. But he completely ignored the stop sign AND stop marking in front of him... Of course the yield to oncoming trafic is for trafic on the road, not for people exiting the estates..

There are worst views for 40:20s… also the closed road 👌👌

Soooo, reviving this thread a little bit, the Siablo is going back to standard-ish trip and will be for sale soon with the stock wheels, option between xcadey or apex crank, apex 11s groupset and it will keep the upgraded carbon wheelset and barstem, so it should definitely stay under 9kg. In the meantime I moved the mtb groupset and the deep wheels on a new frameset 😍 Right now it’s over 8kg with pedals, cages and garmin, but I have 42c pathfinders on and a GX cassette. I already have a plan to get it below 8kg in gravel trim, I must weigh it with the road wheels I think it will be ridiculous 😜

Unfortunate, anything could be done in that case if you for example get the plates ? That guy clearly has a problem with cyclists (and a problem in general if all you have in mind on a sunday morning, especially 24th of december is to **** up a cyclist..

haha, yeah I train almost 6 days a week on my gravel bike, and half of the time it doesn't involve any dirt or gravel roads, so for anyone not seriously into racing any gravel bike will do just fine for road/gravel, even on the group rides. I pretty much only use my Tarmac at the races.

Yeah I was keen initially to organise a weekend away that side as last time I drove back from Worcester by that road I was blown away by the views by the Stettyn farm, but I had a school concert that morning, I think the closer to december you get, the more people have family commitments

Saturday morning wasn't too bad

from memory of my only DC in 2020 or 2021, the problem wasn't teams catching us, but teams not willing to be passed, we were constantly getting *** from the commissaires when in fact we were the team who caught and passed other teams, and they would draft us. We'd drop them on every bump, and they'd come back on the next decent and freewheel behind us. And my DC wasn't even reversed order !

Yeah... one of the reasons why I don't like this race. Had a lot more fun when we did Race of Truth even if we had similar problems at the begining, but it didn't last for 200km

some of the "fun" gravel races invited local athletes. you do this, with a nice promo video, post on IG and tag said athletes, when they share you get your event seen by 100s, probably lots of these people won't ever go look on the Hub. But yeah, bikehub is a good start, if at least everyone on here knows about the races there's better chances they get talked about on all the whatsapp groups

You're right, the community used to create a topic here before almost every race, I think I created a few myself at the time when I was frothing before each and every race. Maybe it's time we start doing this again as not many organiser even post their events here

Sent this to my teammates yesterday as I was going to enter, just because I'm on holidays and had nothing else to do, otherwise I probably would've entered this weekend or something. Some didn't even know it was happening, it is a bit shocking. Also I pointed to them that the email on the information PDF doesn't work (their email is @mweb.co.za when the one in the PDF is @gmail.com). Unfortunately, I do think you're right in your "we tried nothing and we're out of ideas" meme. The spamming the hell out of everyone's inbox and then lying about entries filling up fast and all that strategy backfired, and now they don't know what else to do to sell their events. In my opinion, charging R570 for a race that offers nothing special (vs for example Winelands that I just entered for R420) could maybe be one explanation, also winelands has been all over my social media the past week. Event Tour de Worcester (that still haven't announced the new-new date), keeps on posting reels on instagram, reminding me I have that entry pending
