  1. Sent this to my teammates yesterday as I was going to enter, just because I'm on holidays and had nothing else to do, otherwise I probably would've entered this weekend or something. Some didn't even know it was happening, it is a bit shocking. Also I pointed to them that the email on the information PDF doesn't work (their email is @mweb.co.za when the one in the PDF is @gmail.com). Unfortunately, I do think you're right in your "we tried nothing and we're out of ideas" meme. The spamming the hell out of everyone's inbox and then lying about entries filling up fast and all that strategy backfired, and now they don't know what else to do to sell their events. In my opinion, charging R570 for a race that offers nothing special (vs for example Winelands that I just entered for R420) could maybe be one explanation, also winelands has been all over my social media the past week. Event Tour de Worcester (that still haven't announced the new-new date), keeps on posting reels on instagram, reminding me I have that entry pending
  2. ******* hell... I'm setting up my zwift account again
  3. 100%, we're ******
  4. yes, I confirm, you must add VAT / Duties if applicable. Most of the time it's still much cheaper than local prices. But it lost interest now that they don't ship what we can't find locally (Shimano and Sram parts) I've used them in the past to buy a new AXS Force derailleur and a 4iiii powermeter, both not available locally at the time. No issues whatsoever, they are legit Edit; I see I've actually used them 4 times, also bought clothes and roval handlebars, even returned tyres that were not advertised properly once (GP 5000 AS TR delivered when I thought I was ordering S TR) and got refunded no problem (Although this specific order was delivered in france during my holidays, sending something back from SA would've cost an arm)
  5. Funny they haven't updated the ads
  6. a whatsapp ?
  7. Every year when I go back to france for a month, I can't find any race to race or info about anything, it seems far worse there. I still don't understand how there's so many pros there
  8. I'm telling you, even then, you sometimes find out about a race less than a couple weeks before, and you've already made other plans. Some orgs really start releasing info at the last minute. Sometimes even events we have a date for, you still have 0 info about until the week before. There's what used to be a major race in three months time (99er), still 0 info on the route, they'll probably announce it's back to the new route in jan, to then announce 2 days before that in the end it's durbie dash route with a twist at the end like they did the last 2 years. Other example is that gravel race in stanford, no info about the start times but the entries are closing. Well I'm not entering if I don't know if I can drive to the start or if I must book accomodation. Marketing can be expensive, but sometimes all it takes is a post on bike hub, a few posts on instagram tagging a few people that have a good following, for them to share on their stories, then lots of people know about your event. Even Facebook events, it used to be a thing a couple of years ago. Not everyone goes to the cycling sa events page... EDIT : of course, I say this and they post that https://www.facebook.com/99erCycleTour/posts/pfbid02TnewWQfVw6Wmwk5wBoc2rHxa2BKDuLTGBJ6Ynx9cXAfTFmUjGG12DWRfNChopS74l?__cft__[0]=AZVgPKWMer-ubS3gt6DPcZXbsvD4mVP97jXaP4XTu5XXjbm8ehm4Y9RJJoZf8jks2HwhssBgncQNAPv9mjp66tNgRlOgrAYjQXQ_b28ATG9uajVUKeRFi3bLSXm3Oz_oQjFdsNp-WwKaC4T7RYEwEPbwYc2kvJcMM0njVXqeeY2Gw9ONhcb2KhjFPbPICeVJKUOiYMwEgY4E52m6NSWzaDbF&__tn__=%2CO%2CP-R 15 mins later 🤣
  9. mmmmh, Old hermon was supposed to be a seeding event and is not counted, I see Durbie dash MTB is in there though... My best Index comes from tour du cap stage 4 where my result was average, so I wouldn't trust it yet
  10. On cycling SA site. Looks like it is now sanctionned ? Fact that I have no idea what my current seeding index is AND that I missed Durbie Dash and One tonner makes me consider doing this rather than Tour de worcester that I was entered for and has been pushed on the same day...
  11. Thanks coach, will try to move from 600+TTS-avg weeks to 1000 Edit : oh wait... I have a job and a family so I can't really train more
  12. now you know 😅 Add a bit of betroot juice to the mix, you'll be lighter for the climb, but you must make sure to stop at the N1 engen on your way to the start
  13. They did mat to mat during covid as they didn't want big bunches, but that's against how a road race goes, a road race is not a time trial, and the winner is the 1st over the finish line, not the guy with the shortest time between the start line and the finish line. So many races start with a neutral section anyways, you have to set a start time that is the same for everyone (in the racing groups) To be honest, even during covid, I doubt they ever actually did that for the racing batches. I never really noticed a penalty for starting first or last in the bunch
  14. you're right, maybe it's one of the reasons there's a timing mat at the start almost every race, probably not to set your start time (I hope not, pretty sure actually as most of the race time is correct at least in the elite batch). Then you can use this "check in" time to get the race time for all the other batches or in the event of a rolling start
  15. Only things I can complain about is : - registration the previous day, this is something that seems to have appeared during covid, I don't remember doing this before... we all work, we have better things to do than waste 1hr/1.5 hours driving somewhere to get one paper number... - portable toilets, half of the events (mostly Myriad), there's 3 toilets for 300 ppl loaded with slow mags (also know as fast-poop). For the rest I think we're pretty lucky we have so many events it's actually hard to chose which ones to do.
  16. yeaaaah, to be honest, with road racing you shouldn't even need a starting mat / timing, because a road race isn't a time trial, it's the first guy on the line, so weather you start 1st wheel or 100th at the back of the peleton, your start time should be exactly the same. But this only works if every group starts together, the minute parking causes delays and people are sent on a rolling start, everything falls appart. I wouldn't blame finishtime, as they did what they were supposed to do : timing for a road race. It's more the organisers failing to organise parking and proper starts. And also, I've only done a couple of races on Finishtime so far, and I appreciate that you get the results right away, and they seem good, when on racetec sometimes I'd finish in front of behind guys in the timing sheets, when I knew for a fact that it was the other way around (sometimes by a few meters). So I strongly disagree with someone saying earlier that racetec was always solid, it wasn't. Regarding the temporary board though, this is beyond stupid. One board for the whole season/forever like with the chips and MTB boards is much better. In a perfect world we would have one number/board and then we don't have to waste time and petrol to go do registration the day before.
  17. is it friday already ?
  18. You should cycle instead of running, I've only ever seen you on a bike and you were never an @sshole 🤣
  19. eish... Must check my rival hoods that I purchased when moving my GX AXS from the MTB to the Gravel bike now.. EDIT : after re-reading, I have noticed it before, yeah I had to tighten it super hard for it not to move on the bars, now it's ok, wouldn't worry too much about it
  20. you won't be sorry
