  1. Do you have the total climbing for each day? Does it compare to what was posted further up?
  2. After seeing the official profiles, I'm suddenly not feeling so confident.. I much prefered the provisional profiles.
  3. Once had a book that didn't arrive on time. Emailed them after a week or two and they said it probably got lost somwhere. Sent another copy which I received on time. A week later the original one came through as well. Emailed them and they said I must just keep both copies. Also bought a Kindle from them a while ago, sadly I gave it to my mom (she was ill for a while and had to stay in bed) and have no chance of getting it back.
  4. No profiles yet on the website or facebook :-( I've been checking the whole day as they said they would load them today. oh well, guess they are exteremely busy getting everything ready for us.
  5. Did none this weekend as my bike is in for repair. Will only get it back Tues or Wed. Will then get a short ride in on the roads to make sure its working. We leave early Sat morning as we are driving up so no riding on the weekend either.
  6. See I was good and got the bike serviced 2 weeks ago already and have had a few rides to make sure everything was working 100%.
  7. I've been so worried about injuring myself before this race. Know a few people that have had to bail. At this point in time, I'm stressed. My bike is currently at the shop for repairs. Shop can only get stock of my rotor on Tuesday and we leave on Saturday so cutting is a little close. Now my work want me to go to Jhb next week !!!! aaaaaargh.
  8. I really hope that 2230m's is the amount we descend and not ascend......
  9. They posted the provisional profiles based on the Joberg2C a week or two ago. Based on that, Day 1 has more climbing than day 2. what event are you doing? I'll be at the back of the trail. I am the tortoise, I go slowly but get there in the end.
  10. Anyone watch last nights Joberg2C stage? I taped it so going to watch it tonight, can't wait to see what we are in for.
  11. Day 2 is no longer the hardest if you look at the profiles. Just need to get through day 1 ok and then hopefully I will make it. I figure the 25km climb on day 2 is just a matter of getting a good rhythm and grinding away.
  12. Riding a bike with someone is very different to spending the night in a tent. Unless you sleep in your clothes, there is some point where you have to get changed in the tent. I'd much rather do this in front of a strange female, than a male. I think option B is probably the most appropriate.
  13. Isn't it too late for substitutions?

    lego

My son is having a Starwars Lego party later this month. His cake is going to be the X-Wing fighter, but made to look like it was made with lego. Can't wait. Lego is extremely addictive. My OH and I can't stop buying it for my son. We are spoiling him but can't help ourselves. Latest addition is a Landrover with a trailer and 2 motorbikes on it which he found in Knysna. Toy Kingdom at Canal Walk has an AWESOME range. I want the Pirates of the Caribean ship.
  15. I'm riding with a specialized. Have gone from a racey saddle to a more recreational one and its great. Make sure that you get the correct size saddle for her, makes a big difference. If I ride a 143, my bones are not properly on the saddle which means I take most of the weight else where. Also, shorts make a big difference. I LOVE my assos and they are comfortable even on the indoor trainer which I can't sit on for more than 20 minutes with my other shorts.
  16. Canary always seems to be an issue. Originally it was mostly an uphill track as the majority of people rode down never ending. Now unfortunately its the only track going up and down the mountain (the newest downhill track is no more). The gradient isn't very steep so its easy for both people going up and down to stop most of the time. I try get out the way as much as possible, but not always that easy when going up the rockier switchbacks. Jonkers was rather busy on Friday, I wouldn't remember the "2nd guy" as we came across a few groups and / or individuals coming down. There were quite a few others going up at the same time as well. Definitely a spot to ride on a quiter day.
  17. You are young, stop worrying about love and enjoy being able to ride your bike how you want and when you want.
  18. While i personally prefer that the rider coming down gets right of way, it doesn't always make sense. For example, if one rider is coming down and a large group is coming up, surely it makes more sense for the one coming down to let the group past and then continue without having to slow down while people move out the way.
  19. I had an interesting situation the other day. Going off the M5 onto Koeberg road, there was a roadie walking with his bike, clearly he had a problem. Being a fellow cyclist, I opened my window and asked if he needed help (I had puncture kit + multitool in my car) or if he needed a lift anywhere (I have the thule roof racks). He said he was ok and that someone was picking him up. I thought about it afterwards and offering a lift was pretty stupid on my side as I don't know the guy. I am normally very saftey concious, but I thought differently just because he was a cyclist....
  20. The only supplement I give my son is a standard chocolate vitamin bear. Yes, I understand about a healthy diet and all, but if you have a fussy child (texture issues) and work full time, its not always possible to give a completely balanced diet. Vitamin C rich food for example are a problem. I don't agree with giving kids protein shakes etc unless that have been diagnosed with a problem.
  21. Thanks
  22. Stage 1 of Sani is harder.than last year from a climbing point of view. I think the reason that drop some of the climbs from day 2 is due to the daylight hours they have. The slower guys start later and have less time to finish. Too many people getting cut off from the sounds of it.
  23. So, anyone got a map of how to get to Mackenzie country club? i can't seem to find it on google maps.
  24. Provinsional profiles are up on Sani2C's facebook page :-) Day 1 looks harder than last year if you look at the total climbing. Day 2 looks "easier" if you read the stats. I've decided to ignore the section between 40 and 65km's. Day 3 - I'm looking forward to this one.
  25. I don't have anything to cut the board off when cleaning my bike so sometimes I do ride the next week with it still on.
