  1. Bugatti Veyron-eater (from the days when men were men). Just listening to the stats for this thing is incredible.
  2. Yoh! WTF is happening in the 'Bosch? I worked there about 10 years ago and it was perfect; the cops were seriously on the ball. Things seem to have changed.
  3. Back in the 80s this was kiff for the Citigolf!
  4. There's a Stellenbosch stolen bikes thread somewhere with useful info perhaps ... being as competent a Hubber as a I am cyclist, I have no idea where to find it.
  5. MrDCycle, I'm with you. Can't ride in fear; can't let drivers stop us. We have one life, live it well and enjoy it. Francois, I don't know if I buy the Holy Spirit warning you ... but I can buy that you were seen home safely, and that's the blessing.
  6. I love the dude whinging 'cos he got overtaken by a bicycle.
  7. All the best, Koos! (Hey, I don't know you, but what does that matter? Get back in the shop and on the bike!)
  8. Intervals ON long rides. Preferably at a good coffee shop, but a cupcake palace has been known to deliver the required empty calories. Or just gazing at the scenery.
  9. Just ride from Stellenbosch. Easy relaxed 100km round trip - you just need to find a road that runs parallel to Voortrekker when you're in that area, then a little dodge through Thornton and Pinelands and bingo! You're in Claremont. Otherwise through Durbanville and onto the BRT.
  10. There's a nice Youtube video about opening a U-lock with a Bic pen ... although it's easier to just take the two wheels. But no, sorry, no answer to the question either.
  11. I'm in the wrong place again, aren't I?
  12. Traffic cones? You must drive a Landie.
  13. I'll screw up the averages here. Let's go steel: Colnago Master. Bought second (or more) hand. All Campy Chorus. Mavix CXP30 wheels. 11.3kg. R5000.00. R442/kg. Le Turbo. Bought third hand in 1985. Sachs-Huret & Weinemann & Mavic 10.3kg (yup. lighter than the 'Nag) R500.00 R48/kg Oh, and ha-ha: ratio of bike to rider's weight ... Bike 11.3kg Rider 60kg = 5.3
  14. Good weekend news, well done Guy in Pink. What a beautiful little tyke. Marsie if she's a girl; Mars if he's a boy ... I like Trifle too. Mind you, calling "C'mere Trifle! Trifle! Trifle!" will get some skeef looks if you're carrying anything extra. (Edit: And thanks to Kath for her SPCA work! You're evidently true animal lovers.)
  15. Um ... koff, koff ... maybe it's only me. The advantage of the thread was seeing lekker stuff without all the girls in the open plan office saying, "Really! Do you need to look at that in the office? Can't you go home and ****?!" Can the girls be kept in a separate thread? Or is it only me?
  16. 'Dale! Crossing to the dark side? Noooooooo!
  17. Just one thing: you need to test your cannister occasionally to see that it's ok. Also good to know if it's a stream or a spray. Distance, etc. Do it on a wind-free day obviously. Wear eye-protection/other stuff as you feel necessary.
  18. ... just a few hours to Friday, but why wait?
  19. Anyway Boers3un, you're at Yellow Saddles now, so JB can build you up something special.
  20. Oh, that's a good story to read! (I hope your Dad still gets about on a bike too?)
  21. Colin Lewis was Tom Simpson's Domestique in the 1967 TdF. Here, he talks of Tom's death and some of the other insider ... er, dope, of that year's race. Great stories. http://cyclingtips.com.au/2013/07/colin-lewis-remembers-his-teammate-tom-simpson/
  22. Looks just like my old Fresca, the best dog that ever walked on earth.
  23. Unfortunately, this says volumes about the approach to women's sport ...
  24. If this carries on, I'm gonna have to change from Vodacom.
  25. Very lekker. But hey, Africa ain't for sissies either. One day (and not too far away, I hope) we'll have our own boykies up there on the main podiums.
