  1. Of course it does!!! I am now officially re-issueing the challenge for next years DC as well !!!! Well done!!
  2. Hey what about Arnie (Now boys and girls, please don't forget to wear you helmets) Geerdts ????
  3. Hey slick, brings back memories of my days in Edenvale. Used to cycle that section regularly.
  4. No TH you can't do that!!! HR, no hijacking intended, we were just passing the time while waiting for TH to respond !!! (Why am I explaining why I hijacked my own thread ???!!!!)
  5. I can just imagine: Orange crocs, Long white sox White & Orange Orbea Orange Worcester Wheelers kit Would be quite a sight !!!
  6. Must agree with you there whitesox. Just a plastic version of Dutch "Klonkers" or whatever you call them (Klogs I think).
  7. OH no !!!! Long white socks & Orange crocs!!! Definately a style statement of some sorts. I just can't figure out what statement !!! (although must look stylish matched with that Orange & white Orbea!!
  8. No, but there are plenty wine tasting opportunities ( one could easily get pleasantly lost for a while if you didn't have a Garmin)
  9. nellie, did you also wear your long white socks with slip-slops at prize givings ?
  10. But it can't only be nerds and dorks who ride bicycles. Have you ever seen how "dof" it looks at the prize givings etc. For a sport that is so obsessed with bling, style and image on the bikes (I laaik it a lo as well ), I find it so amazing how little style is shown at the prize givingsracman2007-11-21 11:24:02
  11. But just think how great it will feel to start first in front of so many elite & league riders etc!! Of course, think how depressing it will be when they all pass you later on!!racman2007-11-21 11:50:34
  12. will you still be in 1st position after the two passes ?
  13. Now that's mean!! I can't help but think of the long socks and safari suits when I see cyclist swith long socks. A best forgotten era !!!
  14. You see what makes "Pompstasie" tough is that on a good day, with no wind it is hard enough. But on a bad day with the wind blowing (as it does more often than not) itis FLIPPIN difficult !!! But I am sure there are harder hills. It would be interesting if people posted the profiles with the same scale.
  15. If it carries on like this we will have to call him "Internittent" or maybe: "Yo-Yo" First he's here, then he's gone, then he's back, then he's gone again. And I mean the hub not Cape Town (although it could also apply !!!) Getting to be a bit like BigH!!
  16. webs, it's the road to the top of the Dam entrance as you come out of GB on the Rooi Els road. Just before the last house on the left, at GBracman2007-11-20 22:59:24
  17. Wow, Looks like I am starting in front of a lot of higher seeded riders. I must be special!!!! Its such a SPECIAL feeling to be seeded before some league riders for the first time, A,B,C,D,....K (yes I remember not getting help at Joostenburg in L). (Although there are some disadvantages as - I may have more people passing me now !!!)
  18. FanD I wish I'd started doing it long time ago. Makes a nice training ride from my place and back (40km). You certainly feel every extra kg that you have with you ( and I have more than a few extra). The thing about it is there is no break, the hill just goes on and on with no real relief from beginning to end. And the initial km is the worst ! Going to make a point of doing it once a week from now on, cause every race I do I get dropped on the steeper hills!!!
  19. Damn, I was distracted when you two were riding in the small break with ?. But still a great ride - well done for 2nd then !!
  20. Was thinking this as I went for my first training session on Saturday morning up the Pumphouse in Gordon's Bay. Seems a bit like Westlake side of Ou Kaaps but three times as long and a much better view. Is certainly much harder than Hells and any hills I've done in Fun Rides. So what is the meanest hill that you train on or have ridden in SA ?
  21. Took a leisurely ride (in the car I mean) over the route this weekend. Besides the obvious two passes there are a few nastly "bumps" in the road as well. The first being as you come out of Swellendam from the start, and the last two near the end (about 180km I think). I thought I would check the route out to help me "visualize" the race. Only problem is - now I'm having nightmares as well !!!!! racman2007-11-19 00:45:41
  22. But It's not about the bike !!! By the way, well done on the win Bruce!!racman2007-11-19 00:47:44
  23. Refer to my earlier post and substitute the "5" for a "4"
  24. Just in case it's not: Cannondale CAAD5: Trek 1500:
