  1. Lucky777 - not good timing or taste for that comment
  2. I went there 3 times last year and will NEVER support the business. The absolute epitomy of NO service and BAD attitude. Would rather pay double elsewhere before I support!! racman2007-10-18 05:31:43
  3. WHat I was actually hoping for (although I did expect a fair amount of abuse as well - yeh baby yeh !!) were some tips on specific routes when the wind blows from specific wind directions from the experienced (cycling that is) CapeTonians. Oh well, I guess the best advise I can get is ride into the wind for the first 40-50% and then back with the wind on an out and back route!
  4. FanD - see that's my problem. Need to leave home at 07h00 and only get back between 17h30 & 18h00. Have done Stell & back a few times in the morning but only Dec on when it is light at 05h30 or so. What 55km loop do you do with Lord Charles Hill (presuming that is up by the BP) ?racman2007-10-17 11:02:18
  5. No man I can't take it now - first barely a proper cyclist, then a pansie, then no Santa Claus, now a hero - even my multiple personalities are confused now!!! racman2007-10-17 10:23:54
  6. what time do you guys ride in the mornings now. FanD how safe is the R44 to Stell & back in the mornings at about 05h30 and do I have to get headlights or just taillight flashes?
  7. Hey FanD have you checked the wind at Somerset now !! Flippin 'ell I must be a pansie I am just getting over the fact that I am barely a proper cyclist (being only in "M" group) and now I am also a pansie. Next you'll tell me there's no Santa Claus as well - I don't think I could take that !!!!
  8. guess I'll do an hour or so on the IDT tonight. Damn I hate that thing. I don't know about everyone else but my butt kills me after just 30min on the IDT and then it's absolute pain all the way until I finish. I don't have that problem on the road with a tiny saddle. racman2007-10-17 09:16:46
  9. So I guess this is the wrong time to advertise my 8 year old yellow and red Time EQ's? I also have these below for sale at a very reasonable price !!
  10. No man, I am talking specifically about shoes, cycling shorts, underwear (although I suspect there are a few men on the Hub that might wear womans underwear in private on special occasions ) Jackets etc are ok with me. This is not a judgement on anyone, I just would battle with it. racman2007-10-17 05:14:52
  11. but socks don't stop the spread of bacteria. I have the same concerns about a used helmet ? Would rather buy a slightly cheaper pair of shoes, helmet etc than have used. I have often bought used items for bikes but am a bit squeamish about shoes, helmets, socks, and cycling shorts !!!
  12. I normally do Stellenbosch and back as Sir Lowry's in the afternoon would be suicide. But the wind in the afternoons is ridiculous. The one afternoon this week that the wind wasn't blowing and I got stuck on the road with a puncture !!! (i can't even ride in the passenger seat when my wife is driving - what makes you thing I am going to do motor pacing with her driving !!!)
  13. Where do you ride when the wind is blowing and which direction (I mean the wind). Althoug I stay in Somerset West, I would apreciate any advice as to routes to ride to reduce the wind effect, depending on wind direction. (not necesarily related to only Somerset or Stellenbosch areas) and yes, I am aware that IDT is an option
  14. I have noticed a number of people selling used cycling shoes on the Hub over the last few months. I can understand new shoes that were the wrong size etc but WHO BUYS USED SHOES ??? That's like selling a pair of used cycling shorts man !!! Even though they may have been washed you just know that there have been "skid marks" at least once Used Cycling shoes = athletes foot, exotic strains of fungis, popped blister secretions, dry heel flakes, etc. etc all emptied out and covered with a light dressing of Johnson's Baby powder etc. (Damn I feel hungry now) I can't understand this, or is it just me ???racman2007-10-17 04:45:16
  15. I personally look left, look right, look behind then say "excuse me ladies and gentlemen, I feel a pressing need to expunge an unspecified quantity of mucus from my nasal cavities and would kindly request all and sundry to be particularly attentive to the possibility of spurious and purely unintentional mucus debris that may proceed in a random manner and quite possibly collide with my dear fellow cyclists thereby causing several unhygenic deposits that may have bacterial activity within. So on the count of three - one, two gggggggggggggg three gaaaaaaaaatjoe !!!"
  16. snot nice topic this!
  17. all depends if you are on a protein diet or not ...... racman2007-10-16 06:22:16

  19. BikeMax - where are you based?
  20. Mrs. C the objective is to spit them out when they fly into your mouth - NOT EAT THEM !!!! racman2007-10-16 02:36:51
  21. FF - I agree. Was merely trying to illustrate what "Sean" so eloquenty summarised for me. To quote my earlier summary "it's a F@#$%& farce !!!" (I thought it was more eloquent than "Sean"'s summary though)
