  1. Bigger frames can be corrected by shorter stems most of the time, but youve been riding it anyway as is, so the fit wont be perfect but they can make it better with saddle positioning , shorter stems, etc. At least youll know when you buy your next bike.
  2. and your height has nothing to do with your reach, and its all about your reach, that will determine your position on the bike. I am a M / L but have to ride XL bikes cause apparently i have arms like a gorilla, best thing i ever did, since changing to XL frame life now makes so much more sense. So dont knock it till you try it.
  3. I stand honorably corrected ,,,,, pyga ..... and oh yeah Yeti SB-95 and some other really cool bikes which i am excluding due to the copious amounts of red wine currently in my system.
  4. Thats a good looking bike, and all the top Alu bikes are in the 40 k range these days, its standard if you want a decently designed well spec'd coach. Niner, Ellsworth, Rocky, Santa, Pyga etc.
  5. Must be personal prefrence but I tried craft and didnt like them at all.
  6. Must be i did one race in 40degree summer heat with baggies 2 years ago never touched the things since. I cringe just thinking about the chaffing.
  7. Yeah it does walk into any bike shop feel any chamois under 1k, its rock hard "en hy brand jou gat soos 'n stryk yster" and feels like someone stuck cardboard in your pants, its not about the money its about the chamois, and sadly only the expensive pants come out with decent chamois. Problem is when you buy your first R400 pair of pants you think hell why do i need anything better than this, once you tried your first 1.5k pair of pants you wonder how the hell did i ever live with that R400 peace of crap. And FA makes ok female bibs for the girls, but every guy i know who tried the mens FA hates them your the first guy i know that actually likes them.
  8. http://www.buycycle.co.za/buygear/cycling-pants-mens/vermarc/vermarc-relax-bib-short-vermarc.html Bought two of these, were supposed to be just training pants, and I was going to get a couple of new Assos panties for marathons and multiday events. These are so comfy I am just going to order a couple more of these. The only gripe i have is that the silicon lining is not as good as the ASSOS but you dont notice that at all.
  9. I use to ride only Assos, thought i would give the Vermarc bibshorts a try, about 1.2k, and in all honesty they are equal in comfort to my Assos, less than half the price and twice as durable. dont Think ill be buying assos again. That said if you order them order 2 sizes above what you normally wear,
  10. Well oakpics are definitly comming to the party, they now work it on you pay them R90bucks get a sticker on your race board, and they will send you a cd with a minimum of 15 pics. All bought and paid for pre race, they just need to work on their delivery times.
  11. Lol, F1 is the worst example i wanted to add F1 and their brilliance in "bending" rules to my previous comment thought the better of it. Not a single year goes by where they dont do something illegal then try to fight that its legal, after 10 races where it helped a team they loose the battle and it doesnt make a diff since the races have been won. Case in point this year are aero holes in the floorboards, bunch of races completed and now its declared illegal, same with flexible wings, blow diffusers etc etc. Where there is money involved and the rules are not 100% defined, it will be bent broken and raped, thats the nature of profesionalism.
  12. Well to me its simple if the manager of a team that is supposed to know the rules wanted to give his team jackets midway through a stage, and other pro riders did take jackets, its obvious that none of the pro's and their teams regarded this as a breach of conduct, However it seems that the race organizers and refree's did. Since it probably wasnt spelled out clearly in the rules it was probably dropped instead of creating a chaotic situation and bad publicity since there would have been no real advantage the riders anyway. Which to me is the right way to handle the situation, if this behaviour is a breach then it should be clearly defined and communicated and it obviously was not since its not just one person that wanted to make use of protective wear.
  13. I get graced with JHB holidays almost on a monthly basis, and i thought i made it clear i like Yeti's but can it track?
  14. Ill tell you all about it Im up in JHB end of the month lets go grab a beer.
  15. bit of bloudraad R25 problem solved.
  16. Just like in corporate golf you get a bunch of numbnuts with 50k golfclubs and 20k worth of kit that ponder around the courses looking to get away from their wifes for "golfweekends" where they can get pissed and shag hookers and imitate that they can hit a ball and act dissapointed when they splice it 9 out of 10 times. You now find these chaps riding on carbon Spez bikes going for bike weekends away with their latest flavour callgirl. And if you invite your other CEO buddies and their hookers then its a "networking" session.
  17. If you know anyone in the UK have them order it, slap it in a box, and paste sticker on it saying "samples" or "gift" that way no duties
  18. Nope clothing itmes have an import duty from 40-60% and then you will get charged another 14% VAT ontop of that and delivery fee's.
  19. Olympic shoes really are a good suggestion as its about the only cheap item thats worth something, but in general in the world of cycling the expensive stuff is better so to avoid having to buy and re buy go for as high end as you can afford. Its not a cheap hobby but its worth every cent.
  20. The only time when you use a 172.5 crank is when you have been for a professional assesment and they TELL you you have to use a 172.5.
  21. Saddly i got missed too
  22. @Neil, obviously you have a reputation and not just here on the hub I've seen this on other forums as well, my question to you is, if a guy comes in that can't afford a bottle of whiskey let alone a 40k mtb, do you phone the cops and get him arrested, or do you offer him his R500 and send him packing thinking of the 20k profit thats to be made. Theres just too much banter for it to be coincidence on how many stolen bikes have been retreived from your establishment over the years. And i dont beleive for one second that its not known to be a stolen peace of machinery, firstly you can identify a cylist by asking him a couple of questions, to test his cycling knowledge anyone who has a decent bike knows the basics and you can determine very easily if they know anything about the sport or not. At the end of the day if you want to be part of the community then I suggest some serious reflection on your behalf, I dont think it would be too difficult to get a couple of the finance houses to do an independent sting on the history and allegations that are floating around. Note: i dont think its fair to accuse without solid proof, but remember proof can be easily obtained in one of a number of ways. And as you can see the HUB is fed up with shops buying stolen goods. I suggest a review of your purchase process, that keeps you clean and the cycling community happy.
  23. They all pretty much suck but for obvious reasons, 1. our guvment taxes the living daylights out of you if you want to bring in decent clothing from overseas, supposedly to help the local markets. 2. First ascent, indola, capestorm and bla bla local people have all in all about 10 different tops in total 4 diff jackets and about 15 different types of cycle pants, all pretty much suck. If you want decent clothing in SA you either need to have kit designed yourself, or know someone overseas that will mail it to you marked as a "gift"
  24. covie

    Epic crash!

How fast did mr yellow booties have to be to get away.
  25. Azonic its not an ethics thing, you basically pay for the marketing they provide you not buy forking out a couple 100 000 upfront, but by bying the exposure that they give you with a well established client base, for that yes you dont make a profit but you get your name out there, and you bring in a couple thousand clients and the idea being they then advertise further by word of mouth. Its a ingenius business principle hence their success.
