  1. good post. maybe a good suggestion for would be buyers, if you find a bicycle on the hub that you wish to purchase, you should go to your lbs or one that sells that specific brand that you want to buy. ask the lbs owner about the bike and if he has one, ask him to do a fitting for you and what size of that specific frame would suit you. also he should give soe insight on the geometry of the frame. other contributing factors is the stem size, top tube lenght etc. then from a fitting perspective you would know what to look for. sorry to hear that it was an expensive learning experience.
  2. K@K seller attitude is not on, and dont try post a rant on the rant and rave section cos someone told you that your price is in cloud 9 somewhere and then you want to start a voting session to band free opinion on the fore sale section, and that the 100 hubbers that told you to catch a wake up, are idiots although they have been on the hub for years, and that they just wanted to up the post count. dont try it, you'll get burnt!!
  3. HI to all you cyclists and non cyclists! greet if you want, dont greet if dont want. i try to greet most cycles when i pass them. if they dont greet back, i could not care less. not going to change who i am. when i am having a really tough workout on the bike, no time to greet, need to concentrate, whats on the road and how the body is feeling.
  4. you are better off posting this in the for sale section
  5. Hi there, so i have moved up from KZN and enjoying some cycling in cradle for some time now. I would like to join a cycling club, pref road cycling. i suppose their are many cycling clubs out there but looking for one thats not extremely competitive nor too social. somewhat inbetween. i stay out in weltervreden park, gauteng. thanks
  6. my sympathies.
  7. it would help if you can provide some info on what type of mtb riding your want to do social, weekend warrior, racing? your mtb skills and why your were thinking of a full susser. also how much is the bike being sold for? i think maybe 3500
  8. know the feeling. good luck
  9. yep, whether you are communiting to work or having a morning ride, it is still very dangerous cycling and weaving through traffic. from what i had seen, they did not look like they were commuting to work (but i could be wrong). the comparison to the strikers are that both cyclists and the strikers would not obey any form of rules and nor listen to reason.
  10. i just dont know anymore. the stories of cyclists being knocked over/killed on the roads, other cyclists ranting on why do cyclists not obeying the road regulations goes on and on. and rightfully so, but what pisses me off the most is that the damn cyclists dont listen. and yes i posted that we should find the cause of the problem and stop it there, and it is still my opinion when it refers to an area like that cradle where you can do so. but this morning i lost my patience. 2 cyclists on mountain bikes cycling along jg Stridom just pass the spar shopping centre, were cycling in the middle of the road, and with the traffic at a standstill were weaving through the cars. what the F#$% are you guys doing???? what pisses me off more is that not long ago we ranted on how stupid etc the guys that go on strike are and why do they vandalise and behave like monkeys (thanks mr roland schoeman), but how different are our very own cycling buddies?????
  11. 1 cheese burger, 1 chips, and 1 choclate McFlurry!!! supersize plzz
  12. eish, full xt, so obviously i am going to ask you whats the weight??
  13. tankman and swissvan has given you the best possible answers. i used to have the same problem. i changed the angle of my stem, and then all was ok. initially the stem was facing towards the ground, i just turned it around, so that my riding posture moved from an aggressive style to a more relaxed one. this might not be the solution for you, but you need to try all these small changes to see what works for you. also when you had the bike technically setup for you, what riding style did you tell the guy you wanted?
  14. with a broker or direct to the insurance company, if you dont call them, they would not bother. every year i make it a habit to call me insurance broker and have him review my policy on my vehicles etc. eg the insurance you take out on your car when you buy it is based on the selling price at that time. 2 years later your care has a much lower value. but you are most likely paying the same premium for the vehicle. if you meet with and accident and your vehicle is written off, they pay only the trade value of the vehicle and not the value of which it is insured for. and trade value are always crappy, then you have lost out.
  15. beware of the Neeenjaa!!!!
  16. can this be sorted out with a warranty claim??
  17. guys, i am not disagreeing with you and your statements and that the cyclists need to follwo the rules. we have to look past posting comments on what the rules of the roads are, cos nobody seems to listen or more like obey them. we need to identify the root of the problem and then stop it at that point. i have just illustrated to why the cyclists are not obeying the traffic laws and specifically at the cradle. it is because they have the opportunity to do so without any consequence. so maybe if you use your nut, we need to find a solution to this problem. and throwing tacks on the on the side of the road will not help, cos now the cyclists are aware of the tacks being thrown on the side, and will now cycle in the middle of the road to avoid having any puncture. maybe forming a cradle route cycle committee that is delegated to patrol the cradle route on weekends and to enforce the law. maybe the resturants and coffe shops that benefit from the cycling can assist. guys lets move forward. not as easy as saying "follow the rules" and then wave your wand and alls well.
  18. i am afraid not, and i am not making excuses for any of the cyclists at the cradle. i am merely illustrating the enviroment at the cradle and why it is like that. but from a point of teaching other cyclists, the bigger groups more experienced riders should try setting good examples and then tell other cyclists what they are doing wrong. but it is a case of, placing a bowl of sweets on the table and telling your child that he/she can only have 1 sweet. if you sit there, they will listen and only have 1, if you leave, they will finish the rest of the sweets! same at the cradle, traffic levels are so low, that the cyclists can cycle as they want because there is no impending danger.
  19. so next time you see an idiot taxi driver driving a toyota hiace being a total prik on the road, call toyota customer service to lodge your complaint!!!! B) B)
  20. yes you are a total outsider on this topic if you do not cycle on these roads. so let me enlighten you, firstly i agree to the rules that should be obeyed when cycling on a public road, and yes the cradle route are public roads. however, in any of the pics, how many vehicles have you seen? exactly, the roads are almost empty for the morning rides during the weekend. hence the cyclists have become comfortable cycling in bigger bunches as there was no immediate danger to them. so they have started a habit, (and you can call it a bad habit). there is always sufficient space to go pass the cyclists. and how many residents are there?? a hand few, i suppose, hence not much traffic. the majority of vehicles that travel through the route are people who cycle there. the more important point here is the lack of respect to our cycling enviroment when someone just decides to urinate at the side of the road. that is totally unacceptable. Littering the area as well is not on. we should be attacking this problem in the cradle. But to keep harping on the riding 2/3 abreast in cradle is wasting time. You can also the see the individual cyclists leisurely cycling in the middle of the lane, only more indicates how quiet the roads are. this type of riding is not acceptable, (and you may want to say cyclists not following the law of the road, that went out the window ages ago), but has a geater impact when it is this type of riding is done on more busier / high traffic roads. Apart form obstructing traffic etc, the cyclists are more endangered, so for their own good they should follow the rules. so cut the bull**** on "shut up or act up", you need to know the enviroment to know why it is like that. I enjoy cycling on the cradle routes, no traffic, tons of cyclists, thats where i want to cycle.
